I love the car and in way out preforms my 2012 R-Spec sedan, but the little things are killing it.

Which will be the test how serious they are with this car. They managed to pull off a pretty universally cheered new platform and in the process of focusing on the big things, they missed minor touches which are expected for a car in this class. I think the DRL's were an oversight, as economics or technical challenges are not roadblocks to this feature, which is on Buick's.

How quickly they can fix the small things will show how far they expect this car to go in the lineup. One would hope the feedback on the DRL's has reached the top by now.

I don't know about the 3.8 2015 Genny, but the 5.0 Ultimate has DRL ... alas, not what I'd expect from a supposedly luxury vehicle with intent on the BMW / Audi markets. The 5.0 uses an 1157 series incandescent style amber bulb, inboard of the headlamps as a DRL/Directional. Seems to me they should have used a Flashback LED with a white DRL and amber directional. They should have also made the "eyebrows" around the headlight more functional, brighter. The other day I saw what I thought was a 3.8 behind me and the eyebrows were amber ... mine are a weak white. Wish Hyundai would get their act together.

3. No split screen mode with the 9.2" screen. For the ppl who need to know the music info, while in Navi screen. You can set the screen in the instrument and RPM, to music mode.
4. I like to drive close to the outside lanes and the lane depature warning is always trying to bring me back to the middle. lol
5. If I close the sunroof, I would like it to close the sunroof shade as well.
6. The gap between the thigh extender is a little too deep.
7. Android Wear voice command would work with my Moto360.
8. When i remote start my car, i wish it wouldnt move my seat up till i got in the car.
9. Able to close the trunk by hand.
10. Wanted V8 Ultimate
11. Wanted White on Black
12. My Hyundai dealership looks like a used car dealership. LOL

It is still a great car!!

I can't swear to the accuracy of my answers as I just took delivery of my 2015 5.0 Ultimate Genny but here goes:

1 - Possibly the reason for the car not always starting in the last save drive mode is that the EPA tests cars by just starting and driving. Our cars are required to meet or at least come close to their results. The car reverts to normal mode to do this. I typically set for Eco on long highway drives and go for sport on back country roads.

2 - I've never owned a vehicle that holds the preset seat heat mode. My 2001 GMC Yukon, Isuzu Trooper, Isuzu Rodeo, 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe, 2012 Genesis Sedan R-Spec and now my 2015 5.0 Ultimate, none hold the seat heat position when turned off. I should note that my fiance's 2014 Acura RDX does hold the setting and actually, I find it annoying. If I turn it on for a chilly spring evening, I then have to manually turn it off in the morning. I guess this is the same sort of situation as the toilet seat. Women want men to remember to put it down when we leave ... my question has always been, why can't they leave it up for us? No making everyone happy.

3 - As for the Sirius always starting on channel 0. I have two questions, Have you saved any presets or are you just turning to the channel you want without saving it. Channels must be saved in order for the car to start on that channel. My other thought is that you are parking in a covered area that blocks satellite reception and the unit is running home to Mama.

4 - I'm not sure about the 3.8 with the smaller screen but my 5.0 Ultimate always starts in full navigation mode. Perhaps there is a preset you need to adjust in the menu.

5 - When I open the media settings and have a stick in, I select an artist to copy and then press Copy All.

Hope this helps. Seems that there is a lack of constancy between the 3.8, 5.0 and package differences. The manual is no great help. I feel that Hyundai should supply a DVD for each series and package vehicle with a media setting that permits you to run the DVD while in the car and able to run the functions. Like a true teaching package.

Hey guys, new member here, just got my 2015 Genesis V6 with Signature in Empire Gray.

There are a few things about it that are really getting to me and I can't understand why they programmed it this way. Is there anything I'm missing here?

1) Drive Mode doesn't save preference.
Why do I have to press the drive mode twice each time I get into the car to get to Sport Mode? Shouldn't it remember my preferences?

2) Heated seats don't save preference.
Every other car I've driven with heated seats stays on when you turn the car off and on.

3) SiriusXM always starts on channel 0 when starting the car.
Why?

4) Car always starts in split-screen Nav mode and doesn't show all the audio information like artist.
I don't need Nav most of the time

5) My Media will only copy 1 song at a time from the USB drive.
6 Gb of storage and I have a thousand songs to copy 1 at a time?

Am I missing something?

I don't know what car you're referring to but I know for sure, the DRL on my 2015 Genny 5.0 Ultimate are most assuredly amber. Hyundai chose to cheap out and use a standard old fashioned filament style bulb with twin filaments. This bulb serves as both the DRL and turn signal. What an incredible let down in a vehicle which is designed to go head to head with a BMW 5 series.

I see no one else has this complaint, but I was hoping when I upgraded from my 2012 to the 2015, I was going to find a fold down back seat to gain more trunk room. Instead, I'm left with a narrow pas-through like the old car did. Speaking of trunks, how about a real trunk floor instead of a flimsy piece of thin composition board.

The DRL lights are in no way orange, or amber. They are warm white.

I agree with Midnightsun ....

The CAFE rules are killing us.
Hyundai is limiting the production of 5.0s for USA consumption.
My dealer got me one of the few 2015 5.0 Ultimates still available in the Northeast. He had to trade to get mine. He told me that Hyundai didn't intend to put any more 5.0s into the 2015 pipeline and when these are gone, it will be a wait until then 2016s are in the system. They are also looking at dropping the 5.0 completely in trade for a 3.8 with twin turbos. OK, that will force the purchase of Hi Test fuel. I like that I can still run regular in my 2015 5.0. OK, so I loose about 12hp. I can live with that for the cost saving in fuel.

I think is has more to do with CAFE than GG tax. If they threw the V8 into the USA lineup, it would damage the Hyundai CAFE average and could have major economic impact on them. Lowering their fuel consumption average is frowned upon by all the tree huggers and government which equates to less $. I believe the base 3.8 has white DRLs and Amber LED turn lights. Very annoying and inconsistent. Just saw one the other day.... I have the ultimate with Amber DRL and only the white LED eyebrows which are way too dim too dim

I agree. That's one of the things I can't stand about the new design, those wrap-around LEDs. They look cheap, and you see the same thing on everything from a Ford to a Chevy anymore. The eyebrow lights on my 2012 were at least unique and stylish and graceful, not a garish series of dots draped around the headlights like the current model. Now, if they could have just made them bright enough to serve as DRL......

In my last car, a Lincoln LS, I would keep the seats in Auto. This way, the heated or cooled seats would come on as necessary based on temperature. I never had to touch the heated/cooled seat buttons.

The 2015 Genesis keyless entry lacks these conveniences:

Lock/Unlock feature on the rear doors.
Grab the handle to unlock any door when the fob is present
Proximity of the fob turns on the interior lights

But if what you mean is that one push on the fob will unlock ALL FOUR DOORS then you CAN allegedly change to this. I did it and I don't think it stuck but I'm gonna do this again.

Per the Owner's Manual:

"You can change the system to the Central Door Unlock mode (unlock all the doors when you press the unlock button one time). To change between Two Stage Unlock mode and Central Door Unlock mode, perform the following: Press the lock button and unlock button on the smart key at the same time for 5 seconds or more. The hazard warning lights will blink four times."

As to "Proximity of the fob turns on the interior lights ..."

If what you mean is you walk up to the car, Smart Key aka Fob in hand and press nothing and lights still go on, you're right. Nope.

Per the Owner's Manual:


Interior lamp
• When the interior lamp switch is in the DOOR position and all doors (and
trunk) are closed and locked, the room lamp will come on for 30 sec-
onds if any of the below is performed. • When the door unlock button is
pressed on the smart key.
• When the button of the outside door handle is pressed.
At this time, if you press the door lock or unlock button on the smart key the
room lamp will turn off immediately.

I believe Toyota has a patent on that as all other cars I have seen do not have the handle sensor feature. Most if not all, have the button on the door handle. The proximity fob folds out the mirrors and lights up the ground and door handles when you approach, why would the interior dome lights need to come on before you open the door?

My rear doors have no button on the handle, they can't be unlocked without using the front door or the fob.

On the Avalon no buttons are needed to open any door, you just walk up and open it. The initial touch of the handle unlocks either the drivers or all doors, then pull to open. The Genesis needs a touch of a button on the door handle or the fob to unlock before pulling the handle. Two motions vs one.

Hey it's hard to dislike the Genesis, I need to reach for trivia.

Dear Tall -

All us chickens have different wants. I can see you really like the Genesis.

Here is why I like some features you do not.

I don't want unlock on the rear doors. Someone on the passenger side with criminal intent can grab the auto-unlocked rear door and grab stuff. But then I have spent too much time in other countries where this is a serious problem. I agree it would be nice to have it as an option.

I have the Tech package, and have the mirrors set to un-fold when I walk up. I don't want the interior light on until I open the door. Again, it would be a nice option, but I don't personally see the need unless you can open the back doors and "accidentally" have a criminal in the back seat without your noticing.

I really like the step-wise approach that the Genesis has. But options would be nice.

We all agree it is a nice car.

I would not mind it as an olption, but I do not want the doors to automatically unlock when I walk up with the fob. The trunk feature is OK as is since it takes close proximity and several seconds, but I don't want the doors to unlock unless and until I want them unlocked.

Noticed something this morning. For a vehicle with a full glass roof, the sunroof opening leaves quite a bit to be desired. IMO, Hyundai should have designed it to open at least half the distance of the glass roof.

I think some of you missed the point LeRoy made here which I in complete agreement with. The genesis uses a button on thr outside of the door handle for keyless entry, whereas many other cars (my lexus rx350, my previous bmws) all have a touch sensitive sensor on the inside of the exterior door handle, so when you go to pull open the door it unlocks and opens in one smooth motion (not two steps like the Genesis). Furthermore, there is no kehless entry button or sensor on thr rear door handles whatsoever (my lexus also lacks this, my previous 2011 535xi had this) which is a nice feature when you approach the locked car to throw a bag in the back seat.

Hardly a reason not to like the car from my perspective, but definitely a point of refinement willl have to be addressed as Hyundai works towards completely closing the gap with luxury brands.

Turning a 'dislike' into a "we did that on purpose" 'like'.
Try checking if the door or doors are actually locked on an auto proximity sensed locking system. It's pretty hard to do if the key fob is with you because every time you touch the door handle to verify that the doors are actually locked you will have asked the system to unlock the door .
While I would prefer the Genesis to not use the exterior push button system it uses today the auto lock system on my Audi S5 drove me crazy when washing the car because every time my washing brush or drying cloth passed over the door handles the car would lock or unlock constantly.

Hello!

I have a Caspian Black 2015 AWD 3.8 base model with black interior. I love this car but there are a few annoying things:

1. The placement of the USB,AUX, and cigarette lighter is horrible. I wish they were in the center console compartment and not in front of the stick shift There is no good place to charge my phone or connect my ipod w/o wires everywhere.

2. No cigarette lighter in the rear for passengers to charge their electronics

3. I wish that you could get add ons w/o having to buy an entire package; I really would have liked to get seat coolers and the seat/mirror memory w/o buying all the additional stuff.


Overall I do love the car!

That's where they are in the 1st gen Genesis.
