  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I think my NAV voice has a lisp. hahahah... When it has to apologize it doesn't say SORRY it say THORRY.. Really. Its real real real irritating.

Bahahaha. I thought it was just me... I got my car this week and when I called "mom and dad" it said "would you like to call mom and thad" or something.

I'm just gonna imagine she's drunk and slurring and go with that. (The car, not my mom).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

"Genny" doesn't speak much Spanish. As I neared a turn on Chicon Street in east Austin, the GPS advised me to "In 300 feet, turn right on Chicken." I laughed so hard that I almost missed the turn.

Maybe it should have said, "Pollo"?

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I don't like the way the rear climate control is controlled. I'd prefer if it could be either synced with the front climate control or disabled from the touchscreen without being overidded by the buttons. If I disable it from the touch screen, it turns back on if I accidentally hit one of the buttons (e.g. while reaching for something in the back seat or while cleaning the interior). This causes the rear climate control to be inadvertently fighting the front.

Amen to this. I have two young kids in the back every morning as I take them to school. Regardless of whether the rear vent is set to open or not, there is no air back there until I close the vent (using the "scroll wheel") and re-open the vent. In my opinion, if the rear vent is set to be open then air should come out of it. I shouldn't have to reset it every single time.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I don't know if it's been mentioned but in my first few days with the car I've realized that it will quite happily let you drive off with the side mirrors folded in.

Been there, done that by accident.. Got a chuckle at your comment..

I'm pretty certain mine will come on when I start the car if the rear vents are open. They also turn on if I touch the scroll wheel after turning them off using the touch screen. I actually wish they'd stay off or sync with the front ventilation. I don't have people in the back seat that often, but I do find myself accidentally hitting the wheel when reaching back there. This has caused me to have max heat hitting my elbow and fighting the A/C from the front seat.

Haven't read all these posts but has anyone mentioned the Heads Up Display disappearing while wearing polarized sunglasses?

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

it has been mentioned, yes. Something about it uses the polarization to appear but still be transparent idk lol

It happens on most cars with HUD. On my last car (2008 BMW M5), it was the same. Couldn't see the HUD at all with sunglasses, unless you dipped your head or looked sideways.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Polarized sun glasses block light reflecting off horizontal surfaces like the hood. The HUD reflects off the windshield in a similar manner, and LCD displays are inherently polarized. I don't know for sure about the Genesis, but the LCD polarization, viewing geometry, and windshield coating are typically chosen to avoid double reflections off the glass surfaces (that can happen with an incorrect replacement windshield).

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Pick yourself up a set of UV protected sunglasses without Polarization. See the HUD just as good as without sunglasses.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

When light reflects off of certain surfaces (metal, glass, water) it becomes partly or completely polarized. That's why polarized glasses are effective at reducing glare... and also unfortunately effective at rendering HUD displays mostly useless.

All HUD's do - it's the nature of the beast for the current tech used in these systems. Get a non-polarized pair to keep in the car.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I don't like the way the map removes side streets when it zooms out. It probably works fine if you drive on either city streets or the interstate, but most of the roads I drive on are country highways or large city roads with higher speed limits (45 - 55 MPH) and turn-offs for side streets. I'd like to be able to zoom out and still see the side streets. I've also had the road I'm driving on disappear.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

There might be a setting to stop this from doing it. Hasn't been an issue for me but I will check the manual tonight to see if there is any settings to help with your issue. I thought I remembered seeing (3) settings for how it displays things but I could be wrong.

Although I have not tried this, in the Settings under display, you can turn off the Auto Zoom function. Try it and let us know if this solves your issue.

if you zoom out, they have to remove some streets or you wont be able to tell what is what.

Turning off Autozoom might help, but if you are driving along and the road you are on disappears, then your map is out of date. (the road might be really new or not recorded yet. Check google maps to see if it's shown)

Mazda and Honda systems do the same thing. No choice really, they can't show smaller roads as the map zooms out.
