  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Same thing as a movie, really, if the full Nav screen is filled with moving vehicles, scenery and geography. Most folks would find it dizzying and distracting. Let the Feds decide. It's not in our pay grade anyway. By the way, anybody who can't drive without using the inside rear view mirror shouldn't be on the road anyway.

My rear view mirror is full of moving vehicles, scenery and geography too and I don't find myself fixated in on it. I glance at it periodically for situational awareness as one could do with the NAV screen if it showed the same view.

Now, as was pointed out, the NAV Screen is not in the best location for a rear view to keep peripheral vision, and I don't personally think it's a good idea - but you used a bad analogy as it's just not at all like a displaying a movie that draws your attention to follow the plot and action that is all completely unrelated to your task at hand - driving.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

All of these interesting arguments aside, I'm still trying to think of how I might benefit from having the display show my rear camera view while I'm moving forward. Can't think of a compelling reason.

My biggest "dislike" thus far is one shared by others which is having to use the app to remote start the vehicle. My two previous vehicles had it on the fob and it worked just fine. The delay period between app command and startup has thus far been varied and unpredictable. As many features as they've programmed into the ECU of this wonderful machine, could they not also provide for using the fob (like so many other makes do) for this function? Of course, that would take away a big reason to pay for the bluelink subscription.

The whole point is that the Feds do not ban rear view mirrors as they currently do for A VIDEO FEED displayed FULL TIME AND FULL SCREEN on the NAV screen when moving forward. That's the only analogy you need to gulp down and digest. It's banned because it's a major distraction from the road ahead, not because it's Dr. Phil, or a Beyoncé video.

I well recall my Dad teaching me to drive at 17. I kept looking in the mirror to see who was gaining on me. "Keep your eyes on the road ahead, son. The guy behind you will take care of himself!" Best advice I ever got about safe driving.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I wish my trunk would close itself. this is my biggest complaint with the car.

If you hold the trunk button on lower left of dash from the driver's seat it will close itself but you have to hold it till it closes fully. If that's what you mean.

Wow thanks! I didn't know this!

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I suspect this is discussed elsewhere but I am new to the forum, must bring it up. I have a 2015 3.8 v6 that I really like. I was drawn to the car for it's value compared to German "competition". Apparently early on there were enough complaints about road/tire noise on lousy pavement (e.g. most major highways here in area) that owners got a free tire replacement last year. The michelins on the car now are not really any quieter than the OEM Kumhos. I will say the car is whisper quiet on good roads, but tire/road noise is AWFUL on typical interstate "perforated" surface. This is enough of a problem for me to switch cars when my lease is up. Any similar impressions, or ideas for a fix? Thanks.

The OEM tires were Hankook's. The noise issue some hear is more likely due to the type of tire being used, which is lower profile and softer than many may be used to. Interestingly, both tires are generally reviewed for not being very noisy in this class of tire. If it's that noisy to you, try checking the balance.

Good advice. There are certainly some things that can annoy if not working "right" with this (and any) car, but road noise is something this vehicle is great at imo. Both with the original Hankook's but especially now with the new Continental's I have on it.

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Right, they were Hankooks, thanks. Does anyone have a similar complaint even with the Michelins?

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I agree with you on the ability to see the turn signals. I too have difficulty seeing the turn signals in my desired seating position. I have to duck a bit to see them. It would be a great improvement if they actually put the turn signals into the HUD as well. I have the HUD and it would be my preferred location to see that I have the turn signals activated.

I would LOVE to have the turn signal indicator in the HUD. I wonder of they can update the software for the HUD to allow this? I presume the screen is just that, a screen versus fixed lights (could be wrong)

Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

Probably meant stop/start when stopped at red lights which I think is a dumb useless feature

Agreed. It only saves pennies on gas per year - which you end up losing on the back-end plus even more due to early failure of starters courtesy of the greatly increased usage.

No to mention driveability issues - some of these things are clunky and abrupt in operation - just about the last thing I'd want in a luxury car.
