2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

I must say the bass is a big dislike for me also, like most here , very disappointed, really the weakest feature of the car I noticed so far. How they came up with the number 17, somebody miscounted and forgot to add a sub amplifier

This is my first weekend with my 2015 G2 3.8 with ultimate package, as a techie and a music lover, I listen to mostly genre that has deep sub bass like reggae, modern jazz, trip hop etc. There is definitely a lack of bass in this car, but with a little EQ tweaking I was able to get some good (not great) sounding bass, Here is my sound setting, Fader (center), Surround (off), Treble (+4), Midrange (-3), Bass (+9). now Im hearing and feeling the bass. Let me know your setting, and for people that like bass, try my setting and see if it is better.

Hi Everyone, I have a Genesis 2016 3.8 with 13,000 miles on it. I absolutely love the car but I am very disappointed with all the pitting in not only my windshield but all of my windows. When the sun hits the windows all these damn dots show up and it's driving me crazy. I take excellent care of my car and clean the windows daily.
I have read that other Genesis owners have the same problem supposedly because of the soft glass that they use on the car. My previous car was a Buick and I never had a problem with any sort of pitting.
Since all my windows are loaded with this pitting , could it have been a defect in the glass when the glass was made? This problem will most likely affect my decision to get another Genesis or Hyundai as I have read that other Genesis drivers have had the same problems. Except that I have not seen where anybody has the pinning on all their windows like I do. I'm at a loss as to how to fix the problem.

In two years I never saw the problem, nor did I in any Hyundai I've been driving since 2006. Could it be a defect? No, each piece of glass is made in different machines at different times so the chances of 6 defects ending up in one car are near impossible. My car sits outside year round, a mix of sun, shade, trees, bird crap. Do you have a higher incident of any pollutants? Road dust? I certainly don't clean my windows often so maybe they have a protective coating of scum on them. Could you be wiping grit on the surface as you clean them?

This could have happened from one incident of road debris. My wife's SUV had an encounter with a truck hauling sand or road stone. It pitted the windshield, and it had to be replaced.

Hi people.
I've had the RHD European version of the 2017 3.8 sedan for a few weeks now and loving it. It's rare in Europe and the specs are different than the US models.

Only minor gripes so far:

No adaptive headlights I loved them on the Chrysler 300 but the Genesis only has the corner lights.
No Global Closing for windows and sunroof.
Heated and Cooled front seats take a while to get going
When using the steering wheel paddles I wish the autobox would stay in the gear I selected and not revert to D after a few seconds.
No automatic heated seat and heated steering wheel activation when temp is low .
No Remote Start [ that's unlikely as its not an option on European cars but I still bitch. about it ]

To make the paddles stay in the chosen gear flip the gearshift lever into manual mode. It will still shift gears to protect engine from over and under revving.

The rear privacy screen must have rubbed against the rubber headliner seal gasket. It wore through the rubber and the rubber is hanging by a thin thred.
Anyone else have this problem? Is this covered by warranty? I bought the extended warranty.

My only dislike is the Hyundai/Genesis Dealer network. They just plain suck compared to my Lexus, BMW and even Acura, experiences.

The network or just your dealer? I'd rather go to my Hyundai dealer than my Mercedes dealer. They treat you better but I've only dealt with one MB dealer and thought the service departments was mostly a couple of arrogant p$^&*s. Two of three Hyundai dealers in my area are very good, don't know a lot about the fourth.

2. No 12v/USB power ports for rear passengers

I do find this lack of any USB port for backseat passengers an annoyance. Having to share the front USB with potentially three other smart phones on long drives isnt an ideal situation. Two in front and two in the rear would have solved this potential issue—with relatively minor production cost.

Bought a 2015 Genesis Ultimate with about 9k on it one year ago.

It's an ULTIMATE piece of garbage and actually quite dangerous.
It's being towed in right now for the 3rd time in 60 days.
1. Wiring...electronic steering failed (my 60 year old wife was stuck with it and it's like steering an 18 wheeler without assisted steering)
2. Sunroof stuck in open...had to leave it for 5 days for new racks
3. Lane Assist failure and steering locked and it's being towed again right now (the steering locked along with all the sensor failures)

This vehicle is a financial disaster for me; a lemming and actually extremely dangerous to drive given it's propensity for steering fail/lockup. After I get it out of Hyundai this time, I will likely sell the car...had it less than one year; however, my wife is afraid to drive it and frankly, I can not trust it.

I can certainly understand your frustration with it.. I'd be looking to bail out of it too, once it is running again. Unfortunately, every brand gets a car like that once in a while. Good luck with whatever you do.

I wished the seat were softer and the ride a little softer as well. I like the sporty look, but I desire a more luxury feel and ride.

You are about two years out of date. They evidently recognized and solved the problem in the G90. So you are right and it was fixed.

better late than never...
I did see this in the G90 so I suppose the additions were the result of a normal evolutionary design process where manufacturers recognize an oversight and make amends in future models. Kudos to Genesis for responding and taking action. Not all auto makers are so quick to take action

I get the “bsd canceled” message frequently. Happens when the car is clean and the weather is clear. Happens when the BSD button is turned on or when it is turned off. The only way to clear the alert is to turn off the car. The alert covers the entire dashboard screen and won’t go away. I took my 2015 Genesis to two different dealers. They both told me they can’t fix it because “they can’t recreate the issue and there are no error codes”. I contacted Hyundai customer care. After wasting hours of my life, they also said there is nothing they can (or are willing) to do. I know this is a known issue because it is all over the forums. It affects not only Genesis but all Hyundai vehicles with this piece of crap BSD feature. Buyer beware!!!

The park brake doesn't auto release if your revs are anything above idle speed when you go from N to D.

This has happened to me a few times leading to much embarrassment at traffic lights, I couldn't figure out
what was happening and initially thought the gas pedal was faulty till I recreated the conditions and worked out
that if you apply the park brake you don't give it revs till after you put it in D [ especially on a hill start, don't worry it won't roll back ]
or it won't disengage the Park Brake.
