  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

Very smart. My 2015 5.0 Ultimate has been a major warranty repair every 2 months. Now the dealer is so sick of me, they are trying to tell me they can't get a claim approved for small ticket items like $250 repairs. My favorite....they replaced the resistor/motor for the passenger seat. It didn't work a month later and they charged me $240 for a "Seat Adjustment." Of course, there are $2000 roof racks; $1800 camera sensors that don't work, etc. I'm at about 70k miles now...will drive it to 95k and dump it.

Actually my favorite is the headlights randomly going out at night.... nobody (3 dealers) can't find the problem.
The headlights randomly going out is most likely the multifunction switch. It's a known issue that Hyundai has extended the warranty for.

I actually did the math and it will cost me about $5000 to trade up to a used 2015 Lexus GS F sport if a dealer gives me about $20k for my 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate. Therefore, I will certainly end-up spending $5k for the possibility of avoiding to spend about $3000 for replacement shocks that may or may not fail anytime soon. Not a real incentive to swap after much thought on the matter.

Furthermore, I will also have to factor in the cost of brake replacement, new tires and other maintenance requirements on the used high mileage Lexus as well, so the trade may not be worth the trouble. I have new tires, battery and brakes on my Genesis so I will only have to worry about older suspension parts on the Genesis.

Going from a know to an unknown has risks too. Usually shocks go slowly, not like you will be stranded on the roadside so you can plan. ahead if the time comes.

Exactly my thought on it. The 2015 Genesis 5.0 Ultimate does have some expensive parts that may or may not fail ,however the Lexus GS350 also have parts that could fail as well which could be cheaper or maybe even more expensive like the rear wheel steering system and variable sport steering rack.

Lexus does seem to have an edge for long term reliability and repair cost; but I will have to spend about $6K out of my pocket to get a used one over the Genesis I have now. That same $6k could be used to fix my Genesis if the need arise; plus the $6k does not include any repairs or upkeep that the high mileage Lexus may need.

If I really like the Lexus GS over my Genesis I would make the swap, but I actually do like my Genesis more and I got it the way I like it. So I will just keep it for the time being.

$2000 roof racks? The Genesis is a sedan.

New dislike for my Genesis; the Ivory colored leather. Looks great when clean, but it is darn near impossible to correct any issues with it (scratches, stains or cracks) like black or gray leather seats.

The Ivory(light tan) colored seat belts are also hard to clean as well.

I hate that if I wanted to trade in or sell my 2015 AWD the pano roof is pretty much useless other than popping up for some air. None of this is due to user error, it's a known defect it appears (bent track rails) and Hyundai won't cover it and it would cost well over $2000 to fix.
:devilish:

Dislike: For a while, when I went around corners I could feel a click, like the driver's seat wasn't completely tight. I could not hear it, only feel it and it was very slight. But in a car that everything feels so tight, it was an exception. Then one day, it was gone! I've gone through winter and summer and it no longer does it! WTF!!! Something lose doesn't tighten itself!?! But there you go! It's gone and I'm happy.
I have that loose seat issue too but it hasn’t self rectified…

I thought I was imagining that loose seat feeling but finally decided I wasn’t crazy and started fiddling with it. I got it to go away by adjusting the seat height just a bit. Your results may vary.

Not a joke for those of is with 3G modems in the car. Connected services continues on but many of us will not be able to connect. Many thread here about it.

How do you determine your modem? Or does this apply to 2015 US 5.0 Ultimates? Thanks.
