  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

. It is nothing like the Empire State Gray color what so ever.
For those who haven't seen one in person, I highly recommend checking one out when your local dealer has one come in.

It was actually the first one we saw in person and my wife hated it. I was indifferent about it more interested in the car then the color. No matter how good a deal the salesman gave us my wife did not want that color. After seeing the white, black, red, brown and blue only the empire gray with black interior was acceptable for her. I really didn’t care that much I thought they all looked good to me.

The first one I saw in the flesh was a white one and I was a little underwhelmed. Went back to drive one and was hooked! :)

Took the wife up last weekend at another dealer to see the Brown and Montecito Blue colors and she liked both of them. After seeing the Gray one yesterday she likes that best but the car is for me so she really doesn't care what color I get as long as I stop talking about this car :D I have been driving her nuts with all the options and new things we find out about this car.

My issue is going to be having to wait for the car color that I want to become available for when we are ready to buy. I want to give my salesman more than just one option. I have decided on the Montecito Blue or the Parisian Gray with any of the interior color options. All I am waiting for now is an inheritance check to arrive to pay off some bills and have enough for a down payment to keep the monthly payment in the range we want.

I was quite flexible with the color as long as it wasn’t Marrakesh Beige. I thought the car looked good in all the other colors. I was more interested in the options. I had driven the car in white and after testing other competitive cars I knew it was the one. Based on our expectations.

I have never owned a beige car and probably never will. I never could understand why people would buy such a plain looking color. But I saw a beige Genesis and it looked pretty good. I may wind up in Las Vegas and I could see owning one there to fight the heat.

Actually just got a price reduction on my insurance over my 2011 Genesis. Go figure.

As you should, the list of safety features in this car are over the top. Eventually I'd like to see a HQ night vision system or even a built in dash camera that they have no access to. I'm also looking forward to the addition of true LED headlights along the quality of Audi's. They have shown they can do it for many thousands less than the competition, would love to see these as options if nothing else.

I got a quote for the 5.0 Ultimate and my insurance would go up. Of course I will be getting out of a 2002 Honda Civic SI

...... lol yeah ok from that it's an increase but from a 2009+ it's lower at least here in FL which is crazy expensive to begin with, plus the 5.0 is automatically an increase for whatever reason :D

Car insurance is a rip off. My son just got is license and has his own car (which we already had insured as it was the wife's old car). Not only did his car go up but it went up on every one of the 4 vehicles we had. Our insurance went from $600 per month to almost $900 per month.

We even told the insurance company that he will only be driving his car and will put that in writing if they want and they said because he lives in our home, he must be covered for all vehicles. I am surprised that they didn't raise my boat insurance because he can drive the boat as well.

If you do not like their prices then simply self insure your son. They wanted so much I simply insured my daughter for liability only which was $200 a year. I bought her a used Yaris at 16. Here we have no fault so basically all her damages are covered if she is not at fault. If she is at fault I will need to fork out the $ to repair her car. Today she is now fully insured as at 20 the prices are reasonable however @ 16 they wanted $1800.

I brought this up to the insurance company and they said we would get cancelled. Go figure...

Here in NJ, you need to show proof of a valid auto policy and all drivers in the household need to be listed. My wife has a company car and NEVER drives my car, but she still has to be listed (and her speeding ticket cost me on my insurance!). A separate liability policy won't cut it legally.

Found out something new on the car that I did not know about today when my wife & I stopped in at the dealers this morning to check out some new colors we haven't seen yet.

Inside the trunk, mounted in the center on the ceiling, is a hinged bracket that has two large hooks on it that swings down and are then visible when standing behind the car. This was even on the base model.

They are for hanging grocery bags onto. How many times have you had your can goods rolling around the trunk when you didn’t take the time to tie the bag. This is an awesome little item that they added, thinking of the consumer.

We seen the Marrakesh Beige and Parisian Gray colors today. Two colors we haven't seen yet. Didn't like the Marrakesh Beige but the Parisian Gray was awesome. They had one in the showroom as well as one outside and we found it to be as good as the Montecito Blue. It is nothing like the Empire State Gray color what so ever.

Thanks! Never knew that hook was there. Perfect for my lunch that travels to work in the trunk in a plastic grocery bag.

Your welcome... Funny thing is I have been stopping in my local dealer from time to time talking to my salesman and I tell him more things about the car than he knows. Last time in there he was determined to show me something I didn't know and was shocked that he found this neat option.

He just went through training on the car and tried to stump me on some of the other features like "Do you know how to turn on the Snow Mode." He was disappointed when I told him you have to hold down the Mode button. He did state that it starts the car off in 2nd gear to give it better traction which I didn't know...

Snow mode. Pretty funny. Most automatic transmissions used to have these shift positions as standard equipment - P, R, N, 1,2,D.

Keep 'em coming. I was assuming my base model didn't have snow mode. Does it do anything else besides second gear? I've seen limited documentation on this feature.

Here is what they have stated on their website.

INTELLIGENT DRIVE MODE

Normal, Sport, Eco and Snow modes alter steering, transmission, throttle, and suspension to give you control tailored to each environment and condition. In Normal mode, HTRAC actively optimizes torque flow, to achieve maximum traction, regardless of the road condition. In Sport mode, HTRAC can transfer as much as 90% of the torque to the rear wheels for a more fun-to-drive experience on dry pavement.

All (4) modes are standard on all models. Base through Ultimate.

Keep 'em coming.

Here is something someone posted on another post. If you leave your window open when you turn off your car, you will get a warning that it is left open. I sent this info to my salesman and he responded that it also gives you a warning when you leave open your sunroof. Now that is a great feature. I am sure there are other warnings it gives you so if anyone else learns of any, please post them.
