  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

Ditto ^^^

I have been driving 5.0 Ultimate Montacito Blue for a week and I am amazed at the comfort cabin quietness having come from a Lincoln. I saw one review on YouTube that said this is the car Lincoln should be making.
I can't believe how many tech goodies they squeezed into the Genesis at the price they offer it. This may be car of the year to but. I am glad I got one.

What model Lincol did you have?

My favorite thing about 2015 5.0 Genesis is color Montacito Blue. I get tons of compliments.

Another like that i just noticed, when using the navigation, it changes the pictures for the freeway splits etc. depending if you are driving in the day or night, sun and blue skies in the day. The night one has stars and the moon....

Cool.

What freaked me out was that it also accurately depicted the area as covered with trees or a clearing.

I have a new like as it saved my butt this morning. I always start the car from my cell phone to warm it up and defrost the windows. I found out a few weeks ago that when you do this, if you climb in the car then immediately exit (forgot my lunch) the car will shut off.

This morning (knowing this) I put my brief case and lunch in the car, then I placed my key fob on the center console in the little cavity that we have to access the console doors to open them so the car will stay running. I then walk to my mail box to grab my mail, hop back into the car and head off to work.

I arrive to work at 4:30am and hop out of my car, press the lock button like always, and the car beeps at me. I thought maybe I had the lights on a different setting and it was telling me this. Play with the light switch. No change. I reach into my watch pocket where I keep my Key Fob and walla, not there :D It is right where I put it. :D It is tough getting old. Just glad you can't lock your keys (fob) in the car :D

Been working 4:30am till 4:00pm since around 1996 :D

Have a question about this. Obviously you CAN lock the doors with the fob inside as otherwise the car couldn't be locked to protect you while you're in the car. So how are you protected from leaving the fob inside the car when you're NOT in there? Does the car know if there's a person inside the car or that there's a weight on the seat?

And yes I know it does work as you saide as it's warned me with a beep and a refusal to lock from outside door when I've forgotten fob in there!

Did go through manual but couldn't find this 411. Thanks

If the fob is in the car you can't lock it with the fob, you can locknut with the switch in the car. You also can't lock it with the fob if the second fob is inside the car.

I bet only the inside lock button works when the fob is inside the car.

You can program the car to lock based on speed or when it is switched out of park through the LCD screen settings.

Not true, at least in the 2012 model. The first press will not lock it, and it complains there is still a key inside. Pressing it twice will lock it. This happens to me all the time, usually when we go to eat, and my wife makes a point of leaving her purse in the car (with her key fob), so I know up front that *I'm* paying for the meal!! :-)

Thanks for the above, but AFAICR irrelevant to the issue of the moment which is CAN you lock the fob in the car?

It's possible lobsenza is correct: that you CAN lock the doors with the fob inside the car IF YOU USE THE INSIDE DOOR LOCK but NOT the lock ON THE OUTSIDE DOOR. Sound right or wrong to people?
