  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Sedan Reviews

Review states the transmission was sourced from ZF - I believe it is a Hyundai product in this car.

They are partially right. The original gen 1 did have a ZF sourced tranny but if memory serves me right they changed this to in house fabrication in 2013 and it still is the Hyundai transmission in there on the 2015 and I must say it is smooth as silk on the 2015, mega improvement from my 2012.

Partially right is a too generous. As posted here a week or so ago, Hyundai evidently sourced the ZF 6 speed and not an 8 speed from 2009-2011 prior to their in house built 8 speed. It is not a ZF transmission as they stated.

Your '12, assuming it was an 8-spd, was not a ZF, but was Hyundai made. Mine is smooth as silk, except for the occasional "step in the bucket" lag when attempting to lay rubber.

My apologies if this was already posted but the Genesis was named 2015 AJAC luxury car of the year...

This is a great award because it was voted on by numerous automative journalists.

Cool! Little bit of fratricide there in beating the K900, but hey, all's fair in love and war. I am guessing this is the V8 based on the MSRP (is it possible to configure a V6 and end up at an MSRP of $53,000? I couldn't), and thus it's interesting that the K900, with what I would assume is the same engine, got a higher score in engine smoothness/refinement.

AJAC is Canadian and yes a V6 loaded is $53,000 up here in Canadian tire money. The only V8 available is AWD and loaded @ $62,000. In fact, some are a little peeved because 2wd is not available in Canada.

Thanks, ksoze! Very helpful.

One of these reviews indicated that the real wood trim would not be available on the base model and perhaps even higher models. Anybody have more info on that?

BTW, Just test drove the 2015 base model and checked out one with the signature option. We own a 2010 4.6 and frankly it is much nicer. The interior trim on the 2015 reminds me of a GM product, cheap simulated stitching on vinyl. I think the "Giant Killer" days are over unless Hyundai does something about the interior. But they finally fixed the passenger seat, it now goes up and down. S

Try to check on the tech or ultimate package!

You should look at the Ultimate package as noted above. Head and shoulders above the competition.

There are times when you have to say "what was this guy thinking?" Don't know what his credentials are but he should stay out of auto journalism. It is definitely not his area of expertise.

There's a reason he roasts the Genesis. From his LinkedIn:
I'm currently a copywriter for Saatchi & Saatchi LA creating digital and print content for Toyota USA.

Conflict of interest anyone? In any case, he rightfully gets roasted in the comments :D

THANK YOU! Now that's what I like Aquineas: a man who DOES HIS RESEARCH! Good job!

Thanks for pointing this review out. Interesting reading the responses, looks like the reviewer does not have people that agree with him.
