  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Tech Package - Front turn signal bulb blown - LED Replacement?

VLEDs Triton V6. 20,000 miles since install.

if you want less brightness for less cost, get the SiriusLEDs.

Did you need the hyperflash module for the light?

No. At least with the Tritons they are 18 watts each and have no underloading issues. The Sirius lamps are around 6 watts or so.

Plug and play. My sockets had some carbon buildup on the contacts that I scraped off with a wire brush. I think my driver's side socket was reverse polarity and I had to swap the harness pins.

I did the Sirius LEDs and they were plug and play, albeit I had to change polarity on one of the sockets.

Did you have to use the dielectric grease? Was the connection waterproof enough that the heat shrink was unnecessary?

Unfortunately, I could not figure out how to unlock the plug for the turn signal bulb socket wire harness within the headlight housing, so I simply clipped the two wires (marking one of the wires to show the prior wiring), then butt-connected (crimped) the two wires opposite the original connection. Obviously not as clean and tidy as simply unplugging the plug, then redoing the pins. If I had the time when I did it, I would have enquired with a couple of the others on here who have done the unplugging and changing the pins on how to unlock that plug. I was doing air filters and LEDs at the same time, so wanted to just get it done.

You’re inside a sealed headlight. What’s there to waterproof?

I didn’t use any dielectric grease.

The socket is able to be unplugged from the feed wiring a few inches back. Remove it. Take a sharp instrument (a filed down nail etc) and un-pin the wiring from the plug and swap them. Click them back in to the plug - no wire cutting necessary.

The instructions mention the use of the dielectric grease and a heat shrink.

You only use the dielectric and heat shrink for sockets that are external, where the socket is what seals the housing. Genesis headlamps are externally sealed with access doors.

Went with the SiriusLED bulbs and swapped both sockets due to the browning. No hyper flash and looks great.

So are those the OEM replacements or did you choose something different.

OEM replacements. It was ~$35 shipped for both from one of the Hyundai parts online stores. One of my sockets had reversed polarity and both were pretty scorched. Worth that for the piece of mind imo.

The signal bulbs are PY21W per the manual and it uses a BAU15s base.

But PY21W is an ECE code. In the US, just the equivalent is the 7507.

I recently got a set of the Sirius Led bulbs. Unfortunately, they were only available in red, so I'm not sure if I'll be able to use them. They also hyperflash right out of the package, So I'm not sure if I just got a bad set or what.
