If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Tech Package - Front turn signal bulb blown - LED Replacement?

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I just replaced my front turn signal bulbs today with the Sirius LED bulbs purchased from Amazon. The first bulbs first burned out maybe 6 months ago. I've had the car since June 2018 and thought maybe I was a lucky one and didn't have to deal with frequent bulb replacement. Twice within 6 months now and I didn't want to keep dealing with this over and over as others have. I'll update if anything arises but so far there is no hyperflashing and they seem to be working perfectly.Screenshot_20200601-190617.webp

Any polarity issues?

Any polarity issues?
I didn't have any issues. I checked each turn signal after the install and they illuminated normally as drl's and flashed normally when using turn signals. I'll be able to use them and test them more tomorrow during my drive to work.

Adding to the data: I picked up the SiriusLED CK bulbs (took forever to get what should have been a 2-day Prime shipped package) and just going right along with my typical luck, both of my harnesses had to be re-pinned to reverse the polarity. My driver's-side halogen blew, so that's where I started, hoping I wouldn't have to do both but of course I did.

A little extra tip for anyone that has to re-pin, I couldn't find anything small enough to really unlatch the pins from their clips, so I just pried against the shoulder of the hole in the plastic clip and it released and popped out. All 4 that I did seem to have re-latched correctly to hold the pins.

Hey all.. I'm new to the Genesis ownership club and have been reading through this forum extensively and am now deciding to do the led swap. Fortunately I only have to swap one side of the cars polarity (the driver side at that) but I cannot seem to get the pins to come loose out of the connector. Does anyone have any tips or tricks to get them loose? Are the pins to release the wires in the tip of the connector? Thanks so much in advance!

You go in from the back side. You need something very very thin.thinner than your average paper clip.

One of my CK LEDs is hyperflashing after 2 months. I was considering the RLK with built in resistor, but it is for "turn signal only". Do the EK LEDs last any longer than the CK model? Is there a more reliable brand?

How are those Sirius Bulbs holding out. Still no polarity or hyper-flashing issues?

So far they've been perfect. It's only been almost a month. I keep the drl's on all the time, using them the same as I did the regular bulbs. I did see that someone else had issues at 2 months with the Sirius bulbs so time will tell.

I wanted to document my process here, in case it's helpful to anyone else. I am a complete novice when it comes to electrical wires, so hopefully my layman descriptions are helpful.

I have a 2015 Genesis 5.0. I have previously replaced half a dozen turn signal bulbs over the course of ownership (~1.5 years to date). It got to the point where I could take out the engine cover, crossbar, and air box in next to no time because of all the practice. I had tried to plug-and-play LED bulbs early in the process (Sirius LED that others have mentioned), but they simply would not work correctly - not lighting up, hyperflashing, etc.

When I finally decided to bite the bullet and do the work to MAKE the LEDs work, here's what I had to do:
1) Order a spare light bulb terminal in case I screwed up: Spare part link

2) Plug-and-play LED in the passenger side. This side had the correct polarity for the LED to work, but would hyperflash
2a) Install a resistor on the passenger side. See the Step 1 diagram on this website instructions
2b) Tape the resistor far away from any other wires. Resistors get HOT!
2c) I happened to use a basic 6 Ohm resistor: Resistor example link

3) The LED would not light up at all on the driver's side. I confirmed with a multimeter that the polarity was reversed compared to the passenger side
3a) Cut both wires for this terminal, and then reverse them to splice back together
3b) I screwed up 3 different ways when doing this step, so what I ended up doing was replacing it with the new terminal from Step 1 instead
3c) There are multiple ways to connect wires together. I happened to use this: Wire connector link
3d) Note that there was no hyperflashing for the driver's side, so I did not need to install a resistor

Finally, a word of warning: I didn't do Step 2b correctly so the resistor melted the plastic it was resting against and is now stuck somewhere inside the headlight housing. I think this is OK since I don't plan to open this up ever again - assuming the LEDs last for the remainder of the duration I plan to keep this car.

Attached pic to show DRLs working as intended.

Cutting the wires is an unnecessary step. You can release the plug that is a few inches behind the socket, take this small section away and repin the plug. Take a sharp instrument to release the pins in the plug and just reverse and snap back in. I filed a small nail down to a point for my tool. I do believe resistors are not necessary with the correct LEDs, but if you absolutely have to "it is what it is" - lol :)

I was not able to release the plug. There wasn't any how-to videos showing this step, and I felt like I was bending it to the point of breaking.

Like everyone else, I have to deal with burnt-out bulbs frequently. I tried using the suggested Xotic LED bulbs, but with the DRL turned on they last about 20 minutes and burn out. So I want to change the bulb's socket. No good reason, but not sure what else to try. Some of the posts talk about the dealer saying the short harness is bad and shorts the bulb. That doesn't make a lot of sense but can't hurt to try it.

The problem I'm having is getting the harness to disconnect from the headlight housing. I can disconnect the car side of the harness but have no luck in getting the short bulb harness free from the housing. Does anyone know how to do this?

The bulb is not the issue...I want to remove the short wiring harness as shown in the attached photo from the overall headlight housing.

Looks like you may have to pry the tab looking section until it gives. It seems like a locking tab that secures the connector.
