MOB: That frankly has a lot to do with us not having the 5.0-liter, all-wheel drive yet. There is going to be something and we’re hoping you see it as more.

No AWD in the 5.0 will be a deal killer for me. As much as I like the assurance trade in value, I cannot say it will not make me look elsewhere. I am not thrilled with the grill but will wait to see it in person. I like the long hood and short overhangs though, but I am looking for AWD on my next vehicle and I also happen to like fast powerful cars, so no AWD on the 5.0 or on a future r-spec package, I will go elsewhere. I am kind of at a loss with what they are thinking.

They offer a minimum that they will give you if you trade your car a buy another hyundai vehicle. Mine says they will give at least 22,000 for my car or higher at 48 months if buy hyundai again. Hard to beat that.

I was given a walkaround of the 2015 Genesis today. I have written a complete review and its on the last page of this thread. But in response to your post, If you look at the lumbar support adjuster (the round button) you can see a little toggle on the bottom side of it. That little toggle switch controls the power side bolster. I addressed this specifically for you.

Bill - Have a question for you regarding the seats & power side bolsters since you have been in the car. Do the side bolsters grip really tight, and how big are they vertically? How would the power side bolsters compare to the the power bolsters on a BMW 535i, or compare to a Cadillac ATS?

The power side bolsters on the 535i are pretty extensive vertically -- they grab your body from just below the arm pits to about the belt-line. From my experience, the ATS bolsters are just a bladder that inflates to make the seat narrower. Meaning the 535i bolsters are better in my opinion due to the amount of lateral support. Again, just wanted to get your input/comparison of the 2015 Genesis to the 535i and/or ATS side bolsters. Regards, and thank you for the information you have provided to me and this forum. Not sure whether the residual value offer is still offered for new vehicles being sold right now, but for those Hyundai's sold previously that are still covered under that plan, all the scheduled maintenance must be done at a Hyundai dealer, and the offer is only good between 24-48 months after initial purchase.

From my understanding the residual values have been dropped on most of the "mainstream" cars. I'm not sure if they're offering it on the '14 Genesis or if they play to on the '15. It would make some sense as they haven't fully penetrated the luxury market from the US perspective, but who knows.

On a separate note they updated the Hyundaiusa site to say Spring instead of Summer 2014.

I cannot get that link to work, but what is missing from the 2015 V8 that you want in a R-Spec? The 2015 V8 has adjustable suspension with sport mode, 19" wheels (P245/40R19 on front and P275/35R19 on rear). The only thing missing is a R-Spec emblem, which you can purchase on eBay and stick on a 2015.

Absolutely. Hyundai Canada states that AWD 5.0 is a go.

I suspect that Hyundai Motor America is worried about too many different trim levels, and the effect that has on dealer inventory. In Canada, they will have only AWD for both V6 and V8, but if HMA has AWD for the V8 as an option, that apparently would mean two more trim levels they need to stock since it appears that the 2015 V8 is not fully loaded as standard equipment (as it is in 2014) and has at least one optional package (not including AWD). Also, a fully loaded V8 AWD will be getting close to an Equus in price.

That makes perfectly good sense but I think present Hyundai owners are sufficiently impressed with quality of the product and would be willing to pay a few more bucks, perhaps approaching mid $50's MSRP, for an AWD V8 with all the goodies. Same car with upscale badge would be $15K-$20K more. Here is the Hyundai Canada release article:
