  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis News?

The dealer that had contacted me several weeks ago, saying the 2016 would be in their showroom in a week or less, finally replied to my follow up email. They stated the cars are in port, but Hyundai is holding back on releasing them until mid to late October. They didn't explain why.

Optimistic me thinks Android Auto is almost ready, and they want to have it installed on all the cars and not have to do an update or service on the first few that sell.

Realistic me thinks they probably just want to have a critical mass of inventory built up before releasing them.

Pessimistic me thinks there's some issue and they're just stalling.

Probably a combination of:
  • want to have a critical mass of inventory built up before releasing them.
  • need to give dealers more time to get rid of 2015's

I'm eligible for the Hyundai Circle discount program, but they don't show the 2016 yet. I asked them about it, and they told me no idea when they'd be in. But they should have "a better idea in November or December." After the dealer told me mid to late October just last week. Does Hyundai seriously have no idea what they're doing? The amount of misinformation and lack of credible information is infuriating. I just want to buy a car that you already made!

Relax. Hyundai Circle was also not available immediately on the release of the 2105. The pricing was also not as stellar as you may see now for a while. Release dates on new models are notoriously clouded and is nothing new. The dealer sales people are sometimes the last to know exact delivery dates of models that are not out yet and are focused on selling what they have to sell.

If you are immediate need of a car, look at a 2105. If not, stick to decaf and email several dealers and ask them to contact you when they have one or one can be ordered in your color preference.

Good to know about the Hyundai Circle. I don't drink coffee, but I'm sorry if I seem amped up. I've basically been waiting since May to get the 2016 for a couple minor (but important to me) differences, and the timeline I've been told by dealers keeps getting pushed back. I don't "need" a new car right now, but I'd like to get rid of my current one before it falls apart and becomes worthless.

Understand the frustration - but good data during transition times like this is always suspect and not a Hyundai only phenomenon. No one wants to talk about new models when old models are sitting on the lot. Initial pricing on the 2016's will not be anywhere near the deals you have seen her recently, so more patience may be in order for a bargain once they trickle in.

I was just thinking the other day we need an "inside contact" that works at the port. I suspect the port folks have a pretty good idea of dates as they have to load them up. In all the automotive forums I have participated in I've never see someone from the port post. They are probably so sick of looking at cars by the end of the day the last thing they want to do is post in a forum frequented by a bunch of car geeks :)

The folks at HMA know what the plan is they are just responding to pressure from the dealers sitting with lots of 2015 inventory to hold off as long as possible before releasing them :(

Hey Guys, I'm new around here but preparing to take the plunge into the Genny world... I reached out to a friend of mine who works at HMA and while he is sworn to secrecy he alluded to knowing all we need to know at the end of this month. Exactly what that means, we won't find out till the month is over but I expect that this means the cars will be on the lots by the end of October. I could be wrong though... We'll see :). Meanwhile I'm trying to decide if I want to use the 16 as a bargaining chip, or go for the new MY. The biggest change that I see is the LED DRL's and LED fogs on all 3.8's from signature on up.

The fog light thing was actually a big motivator for me, 52,700 msrp, but no foglights? uh wtf indeed. Also, I have had transition year cars, it is ALWAYS a pain, my Lolvo has been a prime example of that, almost everything is 02-09 as far as parts... I have a 2001, half the parts are from the new platform, half the parts are from the S70 motors....and in true Volvo style, let's use the same ignition system we have been using, but make it different for only the first year... ugh

Hey btw... not sure if this is old news or new news, but my local dealer had the brochure out for the MY16's... the back age lists all the specs, so I just scanned it in in case this is embargoed info that others might get excited about. Still no definite delivery date, but this might clear up some questions... enjoy

PS, I'd attach it but I guess its too big for the forum. Still figuring this place out.

Cheers,

Scott

It's a big deal to me too, but if I can get 10k off of the invoice on a 15 or pay full price for a 16... are fog lights worth 10k? I need more than that... trying to figure out what that 'more' *is* :)

I was originally waiting to see some hard specs on MY16 before making a decision to wait or not. When the Brochure was scanned and it only showed the Fogs and LED DRL's as the changes, I pulled the trigger last week with no hesitation on a MY15 while my preferred color and package combo was still in stock and saved $$$ over MSRP.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of car lighting, (completely swapped out my housing, and HID conversion for both low beams and fogs on my old ride) but no way I'm passing on a $8-10K discount for cooler lights :-).

For me it's a matter of getting exactly what I want, and being able to afford it. But the "more" is that I'm secretly hoping it comes with Android Auto or that some of the issues from the 2015 have been quietly worked out behind the scense. And that it hasn't been sitting on a lot for over a year.

We do have a forum member here who works at the port on the west coast. I do believe he recently posted that the cars are in port but they are no moving out yet. Can't remember the posters name.

Your profile says you are a current owner of a 2G Genesis, yet you state you'd like to get rid of your current car before it falls apart?

Which is it?

I'm tricky. Use context clues and see if you can guess correctly.
If you don't have a 2G (second generation Genesis, which is MY 2015+), then why don't you just change the info in your profile. It helps people understand your comments/questions better.
