  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2017/2018 radio swap in 2016 ultimate?

I got the LVDS extension module... but my car is full fledged Korean and has the connector angled the other direction. So it wasn't needed.

No real issues so far. Definitely need to change the KPLAY module power source to switched instead on constant, it sometimes gets confused by my phone and hangs. The only reset is a power cycle... so need to connect power to red instead of yellow.
How's it going with that thing? Enjoy it? Verdict?

Very enjoyable. Waze has an issue with night mode (not the adapter's fault)

In terms of usability, high. Using the hang up button to switch back and forth is very intuitive. Starting it up is simple too, just bind the Mode button to Aux and its a two-button start.

Not having HUD nav is a bummer but I didn't actually look at it much.

If using AA, the USB port won't keep the phone charged unless the screen is off.

Verdict:
It's on the upper end of what I valued a CP/AA integration at cost wise. Still worth it. Everything works fine, even if the install process is kind of complicated.

It IS a little pricey - having WAZE on the big screen during a trip would almost make it for that reason alone...

Won't work. Has to be the part number ending in -B1550 to communicate.
I know this was a long time ago but I was told by the dealership the matching AMP for the 2018 head unit is 96370-B1600. Is the one ending in -B1550 the one that will fit with the wiring in the 2015 Hyundai Genesis Ultimate 5.0?

Today I was be able to communicate with this guy (he is a really nice person actually) and that’s exactly what he told me after I send him this video !

“I've made similar attempts. But music doesn't come out once. There is no voice. Navigation also works ... GPS. But no music comes out. So I replaced the head unit I replaced the amplifier. Android Auto and CarPlay will work.”
Did this ever work for you? I found a used head unit from a 2018 and bought it. Since I have no audio I am thinking about buying a matching amp. If it worked for you, what amp part number did you buy?

Hi guys, I am the guy from the original Kia K900 Video. I am happy to see my video helped get you guys a solution for your cars. I was initially trying to do what you guys started, swapping out the radio. Then I just started to research and came across those boxes and thought I might try it out. Once it worked I went ahead and posted the video in hope that others will come across it and it might help them. I had been trying to post in this forum but always got blocked due to needing to be approved from the Moderator, this post might have the same issue.

But if anyone needs any help understanding anything about the system, try and reach out to me. If I get an alert I will try my best to help, additionally check the description of the original Kia K900 video. I have posted some documentation there in the description that might help.

I got my kit Friday. I have a 2016 3.8 ultimate. A little confused about wiring. The only ones im splicing are the CAN cables to the red/blue on the assy-ibox correct? Not sure what to do with the "rear-power/rear-det" cables. The manual leaves out these cables with no explanation of course. Unless it's just extra wires for other vehicles. Any help would be appreciated.

I have the 10w kit

Correct splice the 2 wires on the ibox
I got everything plugged and ready to go. I don't seem to have a power cable for the KPLAY box. Do you by chance have a picture of your KPLAY box and where the power cables goes from KPLAY box?

Thanks for the pics. Looks like I just didn't receive a red&black power cable that goes out from the KPLAY box (you got one). I emailed support hopefully they can send me one asap. Currently the top led flashes slowly and the bottom flashes rapidly with a black screen as well. Last piece of the puzzle left lol

You're supposed to splice to red and black on the red/black/yellow lead from video interface box. No special cable. Don't use yellow because it's constant on.

I know about the splicing into the main harness. I just don't have the cable that fits into the power on the KPLAY box itself. I attached picture to show which power I mean.

A 2 pin JST-XH may be the size you need

Just placed an order. Thank you very much! I was bummed at the thought of waiting for a cable from Korea.

Just be certain that whatever color orientation you get, positive is the pin closest to the HDMI connector.

You lost HUD navigation and phone charging? Well, I guess that is to be expected that some features will be lost when trying to integrate features with aftermarket modules.

Is Waze that much better than the stock navigation system for all this trouble? I never used Waze so I do not undertand why it is worth the cost and trouble to use it over the stock navigation system.

Waze has much more granular traffic reporting (all surface streets are valid traffic reporting) and it has a more up-to-date road conditions state than the built-in unit. Stuff like police, cameras, stalled cars, accidents, weather hazards, object hazards, etc. It is crowd-sourced so you can run into reports from some idiot that doesn't know how many fingers they have on their feet. For a free service, it offers a lot more than the $70/year trafficnav XM subscription.

I can also do more cool things with AA, like put Torque gauges up on the screen or full media controls for music apps like Spotify.

I'm also waiting on a wireless Android Auto adapter to arrive so I won't have to plug the phone in at all, or can plug into a high speed charger if needed. But that's an Indiegogo project and I'm way back on the fulfillment list.
