  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Any high mileage Genesis owners out there??

98,000 miles on my 2012 4.6 now. My cruise control just went out, and turns out to be some $4,500 module that the Hyundai "Platinum" service plan does not cover.

Also, the left rear door auto door lock has not worked for a long time. Shocks are now leaking. That's about it so far.

warranty cover the shocks?

warranty cover the shocks?

Yeah, it does cover a "mechanical breakdown" of suspension components. Apparently, they consider leaking shocks to be a "breakdown".

You guys are seriously starting to make me worry that I made a mistake by getting the 2013 Genesis in hopes of driving it until the wheels fall off!

It was a CPO so it has most of the warranty left but if something like that module goes out I would be SOL!

Electronic parts in any luxury car can be expensive. Only sure way to avoid the possible repair cost is not to have the optional goodies. I have owned BMW and Mercedes and it cost some major money at times to repair/replace "modules" etc.

But don't be too worried. The Hyundai Genesis is a solid car with few problems. Mine has 184,000+ miles and is a great car.

Yes I still have it. My 2011 Genesis 4.6 V8 is on the road everyday. No oil use, runs smooth, tranny shifts like new. Most reliable car I have every had. Much better than the Acura it replaced. 184,560 miles.

I dint have a good run with Acura either, but I did mod it. Good to know the 4.6L doing so well, maybe I'll keep it as a DD.

Just hit 83000 today! I am happy and kinda worried. The car is now vibrating at idle or when driving at low speed very bad in my opinion. The A/C is not on either. I even sat in the passenger side while my friend drove. The passenger seat is where you can feel it. Almost like a motor mount is loose. Do you think that is what it could be?
Unfortunately for work I drive 500 miles a week!!! Still a smooth drive no doubt but the vibrations and bad idle is really scaring me. I really want to park it soon so it can rest :(

mine is year of 2009
as today of 7/19/16, it has nearly 130,000 miles on it
never had any issue before (NOT EVEN ONE !! )
I am aiming to drive 200,000 or more :D

I have a 2013 Genesis Sedan that was originally a rental car. It has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. Bought it in Feb 2015 with 59k on the clock and just rolled 113k. The maintenance I have done is as follows:

Trans drain & fill at 60k
Rear diff fluid changed at 75k
Sparkplugs, new tires, alignment at 100k

The car has been a very solid car. I only had one issue with the trans shifting weird at about 90k. I reset the adaptives and it has been flawless ever since.

Good to see a v6 with higher mileage. How often have you changed the oil and what type? Any other maintenance like spark plugs?

I change oil every 5000 miles w/mobile 1 extended performance synthetic oil (it's the one gold cap)

i changed spark plugs around 75k
first rear tires changed at 45k front on 60k
i have K&N filter (changed 2nd years of ownership, increased MPG as well)

fill up the gas always 91 w/shell, 76, or Mobile (sometimes 100 octane lol)

so today my car went to the shop, dealership says Engine and Transmission mount look at little worn, they going to replace it if itts cover under HPP which I think it does or else its 1100 out of pocket...139-140k

Sounds odd to me. I have 187k on my 4.6 and I get on the engine often. Motor mounts etc. are still like new. Its possible the mounts on your car need replacing but not likely.

I have a 2010 Genesis, 3.8, fully loaded. Purchased two years ago with 59k. Now has 79k. Have had no mechanical problems. Seat ventilation failure April 2016. Repair is quite "salty". Round trip from Pennsylvania to Minneapolis, summer of 2015. Actual gas mileage of 29.9 mpg., running steady 73 mph. That includes dealing with Chicago rush hour both ways.

I'm not familiar with "resetting the adaptives." My transmission is shifting a bit weird at 142,000 miles and that might do the trick for me?

Have you had the transmission serviced? At 142,000 miles its about due for the second service on the transmission.

Just hit 89011 today!! MAN I wish I could park her and let her rest. Got the car in 2014 with only 35k miles on it. SHEEZ! Yes I drive a long way for work each week.

No problems though. Transmission shifts smooth, acceleration is cool.
We will see. So far Hyundai is number 1 in my book.

:)

Gotta do the transmission thing soon. The dealership is still having amnesia about it... :/

its fine for me, the more they replace under HPP the better, I'm hoping the engine crap out while I still have the warranty so they can replace or fix it for $100

what transmission service? I haven't done that... is this another "scam" type of service like coolant flush?
