  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I want to share the photos of the latest modifications to my brake calipers which I just incorporated. They are called Brake Caliper Covers. I found this product quite by accident while visiting an auto body shop here in town. The owner was painting what turned out to be Caliper Covers for a company which manufactures them also locally. I contacted the company and found out that they had never been able to get their hands on a V8 Genesis to do the mockup for their product. They asked if they could use my car for that purpose which I agreed to. You can now see the results in my album, My Darth V8. The covers are custom made in any color you choose, with or without any engraving you choose also. They are priced according to what you want done. They have won numerous awards at the SEMA show. I will provide anyone with their link if they want it. Currently mine is the only V8 Genesis in the world with this mod.

Those look nice. When I first read the thread I was expecting lime green or yellow caliper covers but those look very appropriate for a luxury car.

Now I'm thinking how much I hate cleaning the wheels. Do you have any secrets for keeping those sexy caliper covers clean?

Link and Price!

I'd love a black set!

I'm glad all of you approve. Here is the link: www.calipercovers.com/. As far as keeping the covers and wheels clean, that is the only true benefit of the covers. They keep all brake dust on the caliper side of the cover so the wheels and covers are kept at the very minimum, much cleaner than they would be without them. So, they provide a bling type of appearance with a cleanliness benefit, too. They come in the standard colors of gloss black, gloss red, and satin silver. It will all be spelled out on their site. I chose a gold, pearl, metallic which was shown to me in a paint code catalog by the original guy I met at the body shop. I think it is a Volvo color. Thanks for the cudos again.

I forgot one thing. My car has the 18in wheels. The reason they didn't have a set before doing my car was because the V6s come with 17s. The covers are wheel size specific. I see one of you has the R-spec. That has 19s. Be sure to call the company to see if their product will fit your car before you purchase them. Enjoy.

I can't say that the price is reasonable. Seems like you can hit $500 for covers w/ custom name and factory paint matched.

Also, someone needs to tell them that 2012 V8's have bigger calipers than 2009-2011 and that those same brakes are now standard on 2012 V6 (they may get more customers this way).

Either way, even at $200 it seems pricey for a piece of aluminum and a random logo.

I can see how older V6's would want to cover their puny brakes, but the 4 piston monsters...not so much.

I agree with everything you say 037. I received a discount because of my car being the one they did the prototyping on. The process took about three hours total time. In fact, the discount was the only reason that I purchased them. Having said all of that though, anyone who likes to modify his car will spend the money for what he thinks is of value to him. As we've all heard before, "the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys".

Love it. Just send them a email to make sure they have the one that will fit RSpec. Hope to hear from them soon so I can get my order in.

I just got an email back from MGP. They don't have the caliper cover for the RSpec at this time. I hope they will develop it soon. Can anyone help by giving them the specification of the RSpec calipers. That will be great.

Just wondering if anyone have luck finding proper caliper cover for 2012 genesis RSpec?

I've got a red set with the GENESIS words engraved in them coming for my 2011 titanuim 4.6

Will post pics when I get them installed.

Thanks Darth!
