  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Dished asphalt and 2+"/ hr Florina rain storms can make for some pucker factor moments. ..and for how I totaled my first car at only 30 mph.

Better tires beats AWD in my book, but I won't fault anyone for wanting AWD for any reason.

Re: Engine Choice: did you (or will you) buy a V6 or V8 2015 Genesis This Year?

I would agree but I can tell you the Gen 1 V8 can break the rear end fairly easily on wet roads when accelerating from a stop. Ask me how I know. That being said, the AWD would not have blinked in those situations.
AWD clearly has advantages in almost all driving conditions, but AWD on the Genesis it comes at a pretty big cost in terms of lower MPG (4 MPG less on highway compared to RWD Genesis). IMO, AWD is clearly worth it for people who otherwise would have to put on snow tires in winter (or maybe even if they still need to switch to snow tires), but not sure if improved rain performance is worth the cost to most people. I can easily spin the rear wheels on my V6, but I have learned to control that by adjusting the way I drive.

I live in the coastal range of NW Oregon. Bought the RWD Ultimate for a couple reasons. AWD still would require chains or studs (state law). AWD gas penalty. AWD extra cost would put it close to an Audi A6.
MAIN REASON I am not taking this beautiful car on the road in the snow and ice. To many people playing bumper cars because they weren't prepared and drive anyway. I've got a 1995 Ranger for that.
Fuel economy is just above 27 MPG mostly town driving. Went over the Cascade Mountains and got just over 31 MPG each way, went to Seattle 31.7 MPG. Nice feature to show trip MPG each time you turn the engine off.
I find the LKA unreliable if there are many curves or the sun blinds it and the adaptive cruise nice on straighter roads but useless in the mountain curves. HUD is King!

purchased 2015 3.8 RWD 3 weeks ago. Using 91 octane and just got 30 MPG on 2 hour road trip mostly Highway. Color is Manhattan Brown. ' had 2009 genesis and then 2011 Equus and now 2015 Genesis. Only complaint is the coupling for the drivers seat belt is very low next to the center console and is difficult to attach and causes irritation to side of hand if done frequently.

2015 V-6 AWD. Love it!
