If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Downloaded the new software update for my 2023 GV80 via USB stick

After many emails and discussions, mapnsoft has assured me they have to fix the missing speed limit sign on the HUD. It is possible that they do not know which end is up. I'm beginning to belief that now that I've been working on all the issues for two weeks with both mapnsoft & Genesis.

It is something they both need to work on. As I said, MapSoft is only responsible for the mapping software. Genesis is responsible for the overall update. Potter vendors like SXM responsible for their part, but it is Genesis that should make sure it is all integrated correctly in the released update.

So my car actually reads the traffic signs with the front windshield camera. Perhaps that is why mapnsoft is responsible for the speed limit sign in the HUD and Genesis is responsible for the one in the cluster. But that doesn't make sense because they both must be using the same data source - the front camera. Otherwise you might see two different speed limits in the HUD and cluster. The speed limit from the camera reading posted signs will not always match the speed limit in the navigation database, which is often out-of-date and wrong.
NO, it does not read the sign, the information is stored in the Map file.

After instore the latest update, I only noticed a few changes, nothing to the bad. The voice control animation changed, more dynamic and the guide voice changed to a different tone. Nothing else.

In response to message above stating:
"NO, it does not read the sign, the information is stored in the Map file."

I believe the front camera does read road side speed limit signs:

According to the vehicle owners manual, and I quote,
"intelligent Speed Limit Assist uses
information from the detected road sign
and navigation system to inform the
driver of the speed limit of the current
road. "

Then, at the bottom of same page, under "information", the manual says:
"If the navigation system is available, the
information from the navigation system is
used along with the road sign information
detected by the front view camera."

I've attached a copy of the page from the manual.

Elsewhere in the manual, it warns that if there are cars around you, the camera may not be able to read the speed limit sign because the other cars may block the view. It also warns if the sign is too far off road, the camera may not read it.

Here is a warning quote from the page following the one attached:
"If speed limit information of the road
cannot be recognized, '---' sign will be
displayed. Please refer to "Limitations
of Intelligent Speed Limit Assist" if the
road signs are difficult to recognize."

I have also attached an additional page that covers all the situations where the road sign may not be able to be read:

I don't believe that it works if that's the case. I've driven past plenty of posted speed limit signs where I'm well past the change of limit before the car displays the new speed limit.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Another issue I discovered over the course of the last week while on a lengthy road trip. The Speed Limit Assist doesn‘t work. I tried using it many times over the past week and despite it being enabled it does nothing.

I assume this is likely related to the issue of the speed limit sign not flipping to red in the cluster when the speed limit is exceeded.

I was driving through a school zone and the car showed the 25 mph school zone limit as it should. (There was not a regular school zone speed limit sign that said 25mph, but the speed limit was part of some verbiage on the blinking light sign for the school zone. So I think that 25 mph speed limit the car displayed was from the map database.
While still in the school zone, the city had "mistakenly" placed a regular (non-school zone) 35 mph speed limit sign (right in the middle of the school zone, just before the school ), and as I past the sign, my car immediately showed the speed limit as 35 mph. There were no more signs till out of the school zone, so the car continued to show 35 mph. Of course, I cannot be sure, but I do believe it read the sign. I think the map database would have had 25mph for the entire school zone. It is possible the database was messed up also. Who knows if any of this stuff always works like described.

I have noticed though, on every occasion that I pass a speed limit sign, my car shows the new limit exactly as I am passing the sign. I actually was thinking that they should show the speed change earlier if it is being reduced, because you are supposed to be down to the new limit when you pass the sign, not after passing it. By the time the car reflects the new speed you are at the sign, and by the time you hit the switch to reset the cruise control speed, and the car slows down, you are well past the sign. That will get you a ticket in some of our small towns. They hide about 50-100 yards past the sign that reduces the speed.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying your car is reading the signs. Who knows, could be a lot of reasons, they might be changing chips during manufacture because correct ones aren't available, and some features do not work for that set of cars coming off the line.

Be aware, and maybe you are, but the only thing speed assist does on most roads is warn you that the speed limit has changed by doing two things: 1) turn the cluster speed limit red if the speed just reduced ("warning overspeed" in manual); 2) if using cruise control, it will flash white up/down arrows in the cluster where the cruise control info is shown, indicating you need to speed up or slow down ("changing set speed" in manual). Attached is the manual page describing these two items (speed limit assist info....). BTW, since the map update, neither of these work any more. So you get no warnings when the speed limit changes.

It is only on interstates, for the most part (some exceptions), that the smart cruise control will automatically change to the new speed. And even then, if your cruise control, before the limit changed, was not set exactly to the posted speed limit, assist will not automatically change the cruise control to the new speed limit. See the attached manual pages that describe this situation. The attached file "HDA where it works", describes what roads it will work on. The attached file "HDA when it works" describes that you must have cruise control set to the current speed limit in order for the auto update function to work when speed limit changes. The two key quotes are below:
"Highway Set Speed Auto Change
function will operate when Smart
Cruise Control set speed and the
highway speed limit is matched"

"If Smart Cruise Control set speed is
adjusted different from the speed
limit, Highway Set Speed Auto Change
function will be in the standby state."

Btw, even though the two speed limit warnings I described above are now broken, at least in my car, if I have cruise control set to the current speed limit, and I am on an interstate, if the speed limit changes, my cruise control auto changes to the new speed limit. I use it constantly, and always works. Oh, if you have set the "speed limit offset" to anything other than zero, the auto change for the speed limit will not work at all. That's in the manual also.

Hope this is helpful to someone. It took me a very long time before I discovered all these quirks. I only figured this out because I complained to the dealer, and they showed me this info.

Hello and good morning,
I am sorry. There is no way to revert back to the previous update. We are still waiting to see when they are going to rerelease the
Fall update. Please stand by.

Which model year is yours? Mine is 21 and it does not have this function.

Sign reading was not on the 2021, and I dont think it was on the 2022. Mine is a 2023.

I also have a 2019 Porsche Cayenne with all options including innodrive, which according to the dealer is not an option most people have. This vehicle reads the speed signs as well as other road signs, and presents info about road conditions such as sharp curves, and even automatically slows down the car for the curve if using cruise control.

As you are approaching a speed limit sign that is changing the speed, it will display the new speed limit in blue (about 25 yds before the sign) in a different location on the cluster, then as you pass the sign it actually updates the speed limit on the cluster, and auto changes the cruise control speed limit setting. It works on all roads, not just interstates. It also does not matter if you are driving over or under current speed limit - it still updates cruise to posted limit.

Btw, the Porsche auto updates the map and system software. I get notices from time to time telling me it has updated something. It has never broken any function with an update like the Genesis.

My audi would read the speed limit signs as well, but not as complicated as yours. You could get partal map updates over the air, but if you wanted the whole usa, you had to download it from the internet and do some convoluted java process to the download. Then the update disappeared from the web site and you could only do a the over the air updates and only for three areas. So if you traveled across the country, you were out of luck.

I’m not seeing anywhere in the manual where it says offset needs to set to 0 for the system to work. It says it will adjust the speed to higher than the posted speed if the offset is higher than zero. I will try using the system again by setting the cruise it at exactly the posted speed and report back.

It is in the manual on page 7-91, the one I attached to the message you are quoting from. The quote is:
Highway Set Speed Auto Change
• Highway Set Speed Auto Change
function will operate when Smart
Cruise Control set speed and the
highway speed limit is matched.

If you have the offset set to anything other than zero, the smart cruise control set speed will not match the highway speed limit, and the function will not work.

I have actually tried it both ways on the same stretch of highway. Offset=0 and then offset = +5. With offset=0, it auto changes the cruise control set speed every time. If the offset is not zero, it never works.

Hope this helps. Will be interested in what you discover.

FYI, just got this from Mapnsoft after I asked for an update on the HUD issue. This is BS.

Unfortunately since this is an issue with the HUD we cannot assist with the issue you are experiencing with the speed limit display. You will need to bring the matter to your dealers attention so they can escalate the problem to the engineers of the unit. They may need your system log during this process, but at this time all we can recommend is a reinstall of the update since the matter is out of our control.

On Nov 11, mapnsoft sent this message to me: ( I've applied the update 3 times).

Hello CEM,

Thank you for reaching back out to us, after a second reading of your vehicles original issues, we recommend reapplying the update to fix any quirks it may have came up with after the first install. If this does not resolve the issue, we recommend taking the vehicle into the dealership for a technician to perform a diagnosis, and if there is a hardware issue, report it into the system logs and send the issue to their engineer.

As for the heads up display issue, the engineers are currently working on a fix for this and will be available with the next update, as of now we have no exact date for a release to this fix.

Sincerely,
Josh

I have been told that this will be addressed in the fall update ( i guess in couple weeks time).

I have been told that this will be addressed in the fall update ( i guess in couple weeks time).

There are 2 releases per year. One in spring and one in fall. The fall update was released on Oct 25, 2022. That is what started all this. The next update is scheduled for the spring of 2023.
If they plan to do a 2nd fall update, I've not heard about that.
