  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

What Dealers have cars Mr. Soma?? Thx

Those are the names of the dealers, all dealers in CA are in the "Genesis of" format. To find their Hyundai counterpart you can either Google the Genesis name or use the Dealer Locator on Genesis' website and it tells you where they are located.

I clicked thru the Genesis web-site: Looks like Irvine has G70's in stock, L Niguel not yet, and the Genesis of HB site isn't working, at least thru the Genesis site.

Lately the cars have been showing up on cars.com and cargurus before showing on Genesis' site. As of last Sunday there were 8 CA dealers showing inventory on those sites.

I searched it through the Genesis.com inventory search tool and found it. I also forgot to mention Genesis of South Bay has inventory too

Edit: Searched Cars.com and Puente Hills Hyundai shows inventory too. I am (overwhelmed in) confusion

The funny thing is I have been calling Irvine, Laguna Niguel, and Tustin since November, spoke to "Sales Managers", said they would keep me updated. 100% Dead Air... No calls or info. from anyone.

I noticed those earlier and am not sure what is going on with Puente Hills. From what I can tell, they have not been issued a dealer code yet and are not an approved Genesis dealer. When looking at the window stickers for the cars that show in their inventory they weren't sold to them but rather an Admin area. It could be that they are getting early inventory similar to what Palm Springs did, before being fully approved.

A few utah dealers are starting to get them in stock but I'm on a mile long waiting list just to even test drive one. They can't keep the 3.3T's in stock and the 2.0s are flying off as well.

Wonder what the reasoning is behind that. Competition must be fierce for these dealers if they can't wait the extra 2-3 weeks for cars

We finally got some cars at my local dealer in Jackson, MS. Wow, talk about a beautiful car. No 3.3T Sport models at this time but they said they should be getting some soon. Making me rethink waiting for the 2020 model. I kinda just want to get it now lol.

I think it is a marketing strategy to get people into your dealership and try to develop a relationship with them so when they can sell the cars they have customers. When PS got their cars early they were advertising that people could see the G70 and order one. They probably do not make much off of the sale of one car so they need to maximize sales volume any way they can.

Yeah! It's hard not to fall in love once you see it in person. But I'm sure whether you decide to wait or buy now you won't be disappointed! I LOVE my 2019!

Today I see 3 G70's listed on the Dublin Genesis site! Looks like NorCal is finally getting inventory! o_O
Dublin Genesis | Vehicles for sale in Dublin, CA 94568

I keep waiting for this dealer to be renamed as Genesis of Dublin, but it looks like they may keep the current name.

G70s in captivity...

This is Thursday midday at South Bay Hyundai/Genesis, as you can see in the pics. This is in Torrance, California, which is a "suburb" of LA (I put suburb in quotes because you couldn't possibly tell where LA ends and Torrance begins... LA is all one big suburb. I live in central LA just south of Hollywood. Took me about 50 minutes to go the 18 miles, mostly by freeway.)

A couple of quick thoughts:

Great car! I drove a 2.0T, sport trim. As much as I could tell in a 20 minute test drive, it is every bit the match of the Audi A4 I spent a few weeks researching and testing. Obviously the Genesis is much cheaper, so it's a much better value.

The stereo sounds to me to be excellent, but maybe not quite as good as the Burmester system (the upgraded system name) in my 2016 Mercedes GLC. Once again, hard to judge in 20 minutes. My conclusion though, is that it's good enough that I won't let it prevent me from buying a G70. Others may not care about the stereo much; I care a lot.

The very friendly salesperson told me in one week they had sold about 5 of them. I wanted to see a mid-trim 2.0T model and they didn't have one. He said it's to be expected the first batch they received was heavy on fully-loaded cars.

Final point for now... a week or two ago I expressed the opinion that the way Hyundai/Genesis handled the dealer situation -- allowing the G70 to be unavailable in big markets (like So. Cal.) months after winning a bunch of awards, and while the new BMW 3-series was still to come -- was a huge business error. In response I got a lot of pushback making the argument "oh yeah, could you have done better?". Now, what surprises me is... when you look at my pictures, do you see the separate and upscale Genesis dealer that the wait was supposed to achieve? I don't. So I'm wondering, given that the only mention of Genesis I see is some faded flags on the lamppost outside the dealer, why didn't Genesis just make a quick deal to have Hyundai dealers sell the things in January? If you're going to argue they couldn't have foreseen problems in the dealer changeover (reasonable, perhaps) then you've also got to argue that the wait was worth it to achieve what you can see in my pics. I don't know. Sure looks like a Hyundai dealer to me. (Which by the way, I don't mind at all... and for me is another reason that I think it's absurd they didn't get the car out earlier.)

Anyway, happy to finally get in and drive this great car! Now to look for the Adriatic Blue model of my dreams...

Note for those California residents buying outside of the state. I bought my g70 in Arizona and brought back to California. I did my DMV visit this week. It was a small pain in the butt. I had to fill out registration form, wait in line. After talking to someone and filing most of my paperwork, they needed to physically verify my vehicle so waited in vehicle verification line and got inspected. Then back inside they finished what paperwork I could but got instructions to mail a letter to lien holder to show title and I needed to get a smog check done and come back. They gave me a 60 day permit and some homework to complete. I asked about when smog would be due again and was told 7 years.

While still waiting for central Ohio to receive inventory,

So far just Cleveland and Mentor showing inventory, may not help you depending where you are but a new dealer was issued a code yesterday - Vandalia.

Now that I've test driven a G70 and liked it a lot I have started contacting dealers to see if there's any chance of finding what I want.

I found this kind of interesting... One dealer in Irvine, California, sent me this window sticker which indicates that (on the 2.0 at least) the 19 inch wheels can be had separately from the Prestige package. The 19 inch wheels are listed here as comprising the "Dynamic" package all by themselves for $1k.

When I do a build of the G70 on the Genesis website that's not possible. If you choose the Prestige package you get the 19 inch wheels. You can't break it out separately.

That's intriguing to me because I prefer the softer ride so I don't want the 19 inch wheels. But I wouldn't mind having a few other options in the Prestige package like heads up display.

So Cal/LA readers... I got an email from Hyundai, sorry, Genesis of Glendale saying they would have the first of 52 G70s on order in stock on March 3... March 3 you say??? I checked in and confirmed they meant April 3...

So these things are starting to arrive and I just need my model to arrive somewhere nearby and... let the negotiating begin...
