  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Could current owners comment on the following from the Jalopnik review, which I found a bit disturbing. Ie; are these observations true, and if so how does the car compare vs. the likes of BMW and Audi.
" doesn’t ride as quietly on the highway. My driving partner and I both remarked on the loudness of the wind noise as air rushed over the car while we cruised on the highway.
The ride quality, as mentioned above, is stiff. Even in Comfort mode"
and
" The G70 rides hard over bumps, too. It has five different drive modes, one of which is Sport, but there’s little difference in suspension feel between Comfort and Sport ".

Mind you, the observations relate to the Sport model with adjustable suspension, which in turn uses 35 aspect 19" rear summer tires, which would be very stiff. I'm interested more in the Dynamic which has 18" all seasons (but no adjustable suspension).
I find that 3.3T G70 Sport to be extremely quiet inside in regards to wind noise. It does such a good job suppressing outside noise that even the Michelin PS4S are not intrusive as you would expect for a top tier ultra high performance summer tire.

As for the suspension, I feel that the Sport mode should be the default comfort mode. There is a difference between Sport and Comfort for the suspension but it's not huge. I just wish there was a Sport + mode for spirited driving and I would leave it in normal sport for suspension as the default. This is in comparison to an Audi S3 with the 19" setup and the mag-ride. In the S3, the medium suspension setting (auto) is magnitudes stiffer than the G70 and what I used as a setting for daily....but it's quite stiff...so much so that I would avoid man-hole covers in the medium setting. I would never put the the S3 into Dynamic mode for the suspension. With the G70, you don't even feel the man-hole covers. It does real well in isolating the the impacts so it's much more luxury. At the same time, the G70 is nowhere as flat as the S3.

There is wind noise when u hit around 100km per, but I don't find it any noisier or quieter than my Lexus is350 or rx450h at that speed (or maybe I am just deft). At regular city driving speed, I find it pretty quiet in terms of wind noise (again maybe I a deft)

Thanks guys. I wonder if those reviewers forgot to close a window....

Its usually best to get as wide an array of reviews as possible and mentally exclude the best and worst. Perhaps this is one example why. Also the usual pattern is for initial reviews to be far more positive than after a vehicle isn't recent news any more.

I've had mine up around 200kph a few times and didn't notice any appreciable wind noise.

2019 Genesis G70 Test Drive Review: Origin of the Species

Car buzz review of G70 3.3 Sport quite positive. (Also some nice pics of the Mallorca Blue)

Highlights: Heads up display, assist systems, sound system, steering response, poised suspension, engine power, brake quality, comfortable seats, infotainment ease of use, balance of luxury / sportiness.

Cons: Transmission slightly rough, boring interior design, occasional harsh suspension noise, rear seat legroom, rear middle seat, cargo capacity, poor gas consumption.

Seems consistent with other reviews I have read and how I felt after a test drive.

Any current G70 3.3 Sport owners care to weigh in?

I agree with most of it but i think the tranny shifts perfectly, very smooth

I've been driving mine almost exclusively in Eco mode and the fuel economy isn't bad. Get out on the highway and kick it down a few times to pass people and you will see a difference in the mileage. I've been hand calculating the mileage vs the gauge and they are very close.

Sport mode is just too much fun though lol

Yes, i have had one for 2 months now and love it, it really is the perfect car outside of fuel consumption and a tame exhaust
Congrats. Glad you are enjoying the car. Might suggest you change your signature to indicate your ownership.

I agree. If I get a G70, Sport Mode will see a lot of use. If I were primarily interested in economy, this wouldn't be on my short list. But with acceptable economy and solid performance, it certainly has garnered my interest.

Just did, thanks
My bad. I meant your account details page. There is a listing for all Genesis models including your new G70.

I think the trans is fine, better then the 6 speed in is350.

Interior is not exciting as Audi or Volvo, but not boring by any means.

Rear seat room and trunk size is bad.

Eco mode is not a snail, just like any other eco mode in modern cars. I find it the same. Better than the eco mode in lexus IS350 interns of responsiveness.

Gas consumption can be bad in sport mode if your feet is made of lead. In a mix of comfort/eco, 95% city driving, I get 13.1L/100km. Mind u I have only driven 1100km, so engine just got broken in.

Someday next month a huge portion of the G70 forum will be able to change our status to G70 owners. Thinking postive!

The review video from ThrottleHouse said the transmission shifts almost as fast as BMW's, which is probably close to if not best in class. He said he drives a BMW and went straight from one to the G70, so I think his opinion is justified. Jakub from TheStraightPipes said the same thing.

We might get a better idea of shifting from the US reviewers soon once they have their cars for the week long reviews... it will give them more of a chance to test it out and/or do back-to-backs
