  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

I don't see the big deal about an automatic trunk on a sedan. It seems like over complicating a system that works well now.
If you never had it, there's nothing to miss. But once you have it, you'll never want a car without it. Kind of like heated steering wheel and ventilated seats!

All those goodies are super nice and when you get used to them are difficult to abandon but when start failing they become in your worst nightmare. Being a lover of all the only way I found to have them without worrying is to lease. Just 3 years, 100% warranty, no problems. Easy peasy.

So MotorWeek got 4.5 seconds on the 3.3T...and 6.2 seconds on the 2.0T. More realistic numbers.

Here is their episode on the 2.0T RWD Auto...

And Motorweek are usually nerdy type.. not really hell bent on getting the best times.. so I would think it would be faster in the right hands. Remember the best that's been tested is the RWD Stinger at 4.4 and 12.9 1/4. G70 RWD I think is capable of a 4.2. 2018 Kia Stinger GT Test | Review | Car and Driver

I never had those either and you're probably right.

I share the same sentiment as @NLJ. Had it on my '15 Genesis Ultimate.

1. Super easy to close. No fingerprints.
2. You can close the trunk by holding the trunk release button on the dashboard while in the driver seat. I found this useful a few times.
3. It looks/feels bad ass watching it close behind as you walk away.

Only issue I had was making sure other people were aware it was auto close because it's a struggle to close manually, albeit possible, and I'm not sure if this damages the mechanism.

Yes, it can damage the mechanism. I had a Lincoln MKZ and had occasion to go to the airport regularly and would be subject to vehicle inspections. It never failed I would advise the officer that the trunk was power open/close and I would close from within the car and they would try to slam it shut. Damaged the mechanism twice. One time the trunk was stuck half open. Had a hellva time getting the LAX PD to pay for expensive repairs.

Not a big fan of auto trunks. My current S5 Sportback has one as it's a heavy hatchback, but it's slow to open and close. Don't think sedans really need them. A good handle is enough.

Dang... I didn't know about potential damage by manually closing auto trunks.

Newer ones are better. They allow you to manually close a little to set the max height. But closing all the way is still bad!

I was going to post that one...but the guy is too much of a goof spending 90% of the review searching for the rattling object LOL

So glad someone else noticed how annoying his constant interruptions were. He should have shut off the video, pulled over and found the manual in the glove box.

Quick laugh for a Friday? Check out this gomer...LOL. Guy has a phablet in his pocket...looks like it's about to crush his femur. LOLOLOL

This wanker will sell ice to a penguin...hahahaha...

This one is dating phablet-boy...

Awesome comedy.

Why do they do these things? I've never seen a TV ad by a car dealer or salesperson that was not hideous. At least get an actor from the local high school drama club for a step up.

Just like Brian Doyle-Murray’s car dealer character on ABC’s “The Middle.”

"Alex on Autos

The Genesis G70 is an important car for Korea's new luxury brand and the latest entry in the highly-competitive small luxury car segment. Despite sedan sales on a general decline, luxury shoppers have more choice than ever with completely redesigned entries from BMW and Volvo and entirely new vehicles from upstart brands like Afla Romeo and Tesla. Instead of striking out in a different direction with the G70 (Like Volvo's S60 or Infiniti's Q50), Genesis has taken on the seemingly impossible task of targeting the 3-Series with laser precision.

Based on the way Alex is sitting, I'd say he was not on the lowest position so he was not too concerned about the toe room.
But he does bring up a good point that the G70 can be pushed back further than the competition and maybe most of us are pushing it back further than our previous cars.
I know I am sitting at the lowest position the seat will go and a little further back as well!
