  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

1997 Town Car w/200K miles. No, I'm not THAT old. I just needed the trunk space for my business. The past two years the wife has been driving the T.C. since I keep getting more stuff and had to up-size to an Expedition.

Love the TC. I had a Town Car then upped to an Expy as well. Then upped again to an Excursion before finally getting the Genny.

I would not have bought another car but I totalled my 2006 Acura TL earlier this year. I was going to buy the 2008 Acura TL (cause 2009 model is ugly) before I saw Genesis. Once I saw it, I knew this is what I wanted to get.

My first post after getting my 4.6 two weeks ago. Had a 1999 Mercedes C230 Kompressor. Great little car with a lot of pep, but it was getting a little expensive to maintain. Love the Genesis so far, but I do miss the 27mpg ave. mileage on the C230 compared to only 23mpg now.

Hopefully your fuel economy will improve a bit once the engine is broken in. Also, switching to Synthetic Oil might help....I noticed an improvement of almost 1mpg when I switched to Mobil 1. Still, it's probably too much to expect a 4000 lb.+ V8-powered car to match the fuel economy of a smaller/lighter supercharged 4-cylinder MB.

My 3.8L/Prem Plus replaced a 2001 Crown Victoria.

Glad I was able to stick with a RWD sedan.

Went from 2004 V6 fully loaded Camry to 2006 Azera Limited to Genesis V8/Tech and couldn't be happier.
Love my car to death and it's been almost 4 months!

Allways a ford man. Had a 97 ES200 thought I was driving the best. My Genesis is by far the the best car I have ever owned.........
CAR REPLACED: 1999 MERC GRAND MARQUIES SPORT PACKAGE FULLY LOADED I dont miss it a bit

2004 Lincoln Towncar.

I have driven Lincoln Towncars for over 20 years because I really like rear wheel vehicles AND very large trunks, and I wanted to buy (support) American. I finally got tired of no updates and virtually no new technology available on them and decided to look at other alternatives even though I had gotten very good service out of my Lincoln's. I looked at the Lincoln MKS (even though it is front wheel drive) because of the previous good service, but I just wasn't impressed.
My daughter has a 2007 Sonata that has impressed me so I decided to look at (and then purchase) the Genesis.
I am very happy with my decision but truthfully at times I do miss the Towncar ride; not because the Genesis ride is bad, but because the Towncar's was so good.

There seems to be more than a few large fords were traded for the GEN

I love the Lexicon ...but the one thing I miss from my 2006 Impala SS was the fact I could mix and match XM,FM,and AM on the pages so I had like 30+ XM stations saved with a couple local AM/FM intermingled. Now I have to go through more work to change bands.
Minor but a slight step backwards.

That's because Ford was the last real maker of the Body on Frame, rear wheel drive, full size sedan.

This includes the Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, and the Town Car (all built on the Panther Platform).

I imagine that many of us have found the Genesis to meet the rear wheel drive full size sedan requirement. Also a bit of an increase in power. My Crown Victoria put out about 220hp using a SOHC V8. As we all know, the Genesis does better than that using a V6 with less displacement.

My Genesis replaced a 2001 IS300 black on black. I've modified it with Eibach lowering springs, an SRT intake, and an Espiler exhaust. I had 17inch low-profile racing rims, but didn't trade them it with the IS300.

I'm looking into modified my Genesis, but probably not for a while.

Body-on-frame, like the good'ol day's.

My Genesis V-8 replaced an Azera that earlier replaced a Sonata. The car is amazing!

I have owned it for just over a week and have taken it one fairly long trip. I have experienced none of the suspension problems that early owners complained about, even though I have driven some really bad pavement that always confounded the Azera. Is it possible that Hyundai has made some "silent" suspension changes?

Anything is possible, but it wouldn't explain why some early-build models don't seem to have the issue. I was one of the first Genesis owners in the entire nation (purchased 6/27/08) and have been quite pleased w/ the ride/handling of my Genesis.

Either there is some sort of quality control flaw which is effecting only certain cars, or it simply boils down to personal preference where some may feel the ride is good/acceptable and others may not.

I replaced my fully loaded Buick Lucerne CXS. The one thing I miss on it is the passenger side cooled seat. Well, I actually don't miss it: my wife does; so, therefore, I miss it. I honestly tried to buy American, but there was nothing comparable that was anywhere close to the Genesis. I had resigned myself to waiting until the 2010 Taurus comes out.....then I found gennie! :D

I imagine there are some wives who would interpret the purchase of a Genesis as a sign you don't really love them.

On the ride: I drove a V8 for the first time the other day, and the ride was significantly busier than that of the two V6s I've driven--all on the same roads. The V8 felt less composed and more nervous. I assumed this was a factor with all V8s, but maybe not.

My Genesis Coupe replaced my crappy 1996 Grand Cherokee Jeep.

I've had that car for about 2 years and we put atleast $10,000 into it. It first started off as replacing the battery and engine, then came replacing the transmission, then the lights, and so on. It was super loud and it would literally wake people up in their sleep. It was horrible. Plus, it was an automatic which made me want to cry everytime I drove in it. I am very satisfied with my new car. :)

Hi everyone,

My 2009 Genesis 3.8L V6 4 door sedan with the premium package replaces my 2006 Sonata GL V6 4 door sedan.

Over the years, I have had two other Hyundai vehicles as a second car. A 1985 4 door Pony hatchback and a 1987 Excel 4 door hatchback.

I love the Genesis but I must say that I only drove about 1000 kilometres with it up to this point in time.

I live in Canada and I am sure that you are aware that the price of a car is much greater here than it is for a similar car in the USA.

Take care,
