  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

2002 Honda Accord Ex Coupe. I finally got a grown up car ...

2004 Acura TL. The TL was very good to me mechanically 160K miles with only one major repair (catalytic converter), but the interior squeaked and rattled from day 1. I probably won't buy another Acura because of that alone.

My new 11 Gen 4.6 replaced a 440HP Pontiac GTO. No regrets at all!

I replaced a 2009 Honda Accord 3.5L EX-L sedan with a 2011 Genesis 4.6L sedan

My 2011 fully loaded 4.6 replaced my 2008 350Z Grand Touring Coupe (which had only ~13500 miles on it - I babied that car!). Needed a car with a back seat for the kid seat, and had my eye on the Genesis...

I replaced a 2006 Lexus GS300 AWD that had too many recalls (6) and wore out a set of tires with 30,000 Km on them. That and neading brake pads & disks at 55,000 Km sounded the death knell for it.

This vehicle is my first Hyundai product, but with only 3,500 Km on it, I am being plagued with a myriad of electric/computer problems that happening intermitently and randomly.
At the moment the car is back to the dealer. Problems are - doors unlock using touch unlock doors then remote key not being recognized to start engine - when taking car out of Park, dirver's seat and side mirrors do not reset to programmed position or only partially reset - CD player does not recognize that the CD's are in the deck - When putting car in reverse mirrors do not move to reverse position or do not return to drive position when vehicle put into drive position - doors not unlocking or not locking when using door handle buttons.

This is such fun!!!

My 2011 Genesis 3.8 replaced a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. A major change. I am a relative low mileage driver (9M per year) and decided to go for the quite and the comfort over the fuel savings. Have not been disappointed. Also looked at Camry Hybrid, Sonata Hybrid and Fusion Hybrid. None of these seemed to equal the quiteness and comfort of the Genesis and the cost was not that much less than the Genesis.

Replaced my 2007 BMW 750i with 2011 Genesis 4.6. :o

My Genesis replaced a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid. Love driving the Genesis. Miss the mileage on the Civic but not the ride, comfort (lack of) and road noise. This is my first Hyundai.

I had a Ford Explorer Sport Trac -loved it but wanted a nice luxury car - looked at BMW's, MB's, Lexus etc....couldn't justify paying $20K more for a car that has less features such as the Genny 4.6 with the tech package.

Love my Genesis 4.6 2011 model - I have friends who own BMW, Porsche, Audi and MB and are impressed with it.

Replaced a 2006 Ford 500 with 2011 4.6L, couldn't be happier! :)

My parents always had Nissans. Japanese cars are also my favourites. But for some reason my #1 choice would be the Pontiac Solstice. They are rare here and I had a limited budget of €10.000. I wanted my first car to be special and also comfortable to drive. There are enough Renaults and Volvos driving around here. The only thing left was a 1999 Hyundai XG30 with 243.900 km for €3.950. I love it and I hate it. It drives very well, but also has a lot of problems because it's 12 years old. Maintenance has been around €5.000 and I have it for only 10 months. Added another 24.000 km on it with all my trips to Belgium.
I had to pay another €1.100 for repairs and made clear that I would like a new car. I saw the Genesis at the Amsterdam RAI and fell in love with it. They wanted to speak with me immediatly after I made clear that I wanted to get rid of my XG. Our budget's a lot bigger now, so we chose the 3.8 Coupe. They offered the new Veloster, but I wanted a bigger car. Unfortunately, the only top models Hyundai sells here are the i40 and the Genesis Coupe. Not even the Genesis Sedan or the Grandeur.
There are several reasons to replace the XG with the Genesis Coupe:

- It's brand new, so it hasn't issues a 12 year old car has. Plus it has a warranty of 7 years.
- Parking a large car is extremely hard here. The nose tends to stick out quite a bit. The Genesis is 23 cm shorter.
- It's slightly lighter, so taxes are slightly less. I don't know if other countries do this as well, but how heavier the car is, the more you have to pay every month.
- It's a lot faster (192 hp vs 303 hp and 0-100 in 9.5 vs 6.5) while I shouldn't pay more for fuel because it's a new car. Insurance should also be the same.
- The fun of buying a brand new car!
- I was only using the rear seats for luggage, except maybe twice. I've heard that the Genesis has quite a large trunk for a coupe and the rear seats are perfect... for luggage :p
- I think the XG's a pretty car. But not many people share that opinion. Everybody likes the Genesis Coupe.

The downsides:

- The price of €52.000 even after trading in the XG. That's over $70.000! So people, be glad to live in the USA. Taxes are insane here.
- Even though fuel cost should be about the same, the XG has a LPG-3 installation. That's only about €0.77 instead of about €1.72. And with about 2.000 km a month... That's a lot.
- I drive 99.9% of the time alone or with 2 people. But there's still the 0.01% when I have more passengers.

2003 Mercedes E320. It was my 4th MB and decided to try something different. A 2012 3.8L Premium Tech is my new ride and so far, it is not only great, but squawk free!

2006 Toyota Prius. Absolutely love the technology the ride and what a power difference! This is my 1st Hyundai, and I love this car!

I replaced a 2007 M35 for the 2012 Genesis 3.8 w/tech package...My First Hyundai and I have ZERO buyer remorse.

I've got a bad Knee, so I love the smart cruise control and the Auto Hold feature. Both features allow me to stretch out that bad leg as often as I like.
