  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Steering wheel power tilt & telescope limit switch replacement

Re: Three New TSBs

I reviewed the TSB on the STEERING WHEEL POWER TILT & TELESCOPE LIMIT SWITCH REPLACEMENT. Thanks for posting, by the way. I was curious to see why the TSB was posted (by Hyundai)...wondering if there was a "cause" which could be tied to the TSB as "effect". Didn't see any commentary on the report at all.

Makes you think about whether some secondary features are worth the potential cost of repair once out of warranty.

Exactly! I disabled my moving steering wheel this morning pending further explanation of this TSB. I don't need it, and certainly don't want to tempt fate needlessly.
Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me...

I'm getting a "network access message" when I try either of the links. Is there any other way to get at the site(s)?
Thanks.

The links are good, I think the Microsoft site had a hiccup and was down temporarily.

Now working at 1:53pm EST

I took my car to the dealer 3 times to fix a non adjustable steering wheel. No success. Now they have ordered a whole new steering assembly for the 4th repair. At least I will get a 3 door loaner from H for this repair.

Hyundai has replaced the entire steering column for the THIRD (and last) time. Not happy

The service bullitin is dated Dec 2008. This problem has been around a long time. Took my 2009 Genesis in for the second time and they actied like "we now have a service bulletin to solve this problem" BS...Trying to make the customer feel like they now have a handle on this issue is not good and I'm not a happy owner...

Had the latest TSB done in May. It seemed to be fine until I tried to adjust the memory for a slightly different angle of the steering wheel. It won't change the memory setting. I also tried to adjust the driver's seat and the front tilt is not working. (I was having a problem with this before). I'm not sure what the answer is or if Hyundai will ever find a fix but I will keep bringing it in until its fixed or I get rid of the car!

2009 Genesis Sedan. Telescopic steering wheel no longer working. Called local dealer and asked about that issue, about what I heard on the forum and the service bulletin . They had no idea what I was talking about. " just bring it in so we can check it out ".

This is probably the most common and wide spread TSB for the car and that comment alone would make me leery of the dealership.

My module was replaced twice total.

Anyone have any updates on this issue? its been replaced before long ago like in 2010 but its been acting up. i had it perfect position and i turned off the automatic features for when you enter/exit the car but a mechanic stupid tilted it all the way up and its stuck. still telescopes though.

i don't even care to have it working again as long as they can manually have it sit at the right position. honestly i'm never getting a first year model after this experience. 2nd/3rd year models seem to be a better bet.

FYI they spend 2 months replacing basically everything under the hood after they replaced the engine it still had problems haha so they just replaced literally everything

TSB 13-BE-002. Defective part replace with part #95450-3M151, which does not use the sensors originally installed for the wheel position limits but is pure software. You can easily do the replacement yourself and probably get the part cheap on ebay.

I see that some here have disabled the "auto tilt/easy exit" feature. Can someone explain how to do that? (2009 Genesis 3.8)
Thank you!

Not sure on your model, but the newer ones have a check box in setup.

Thanks for your reply. Unfortunately, my version was before they offered that feature.
I'm thinking I may need to pull a fuse, but I wondered if there was another option.
