  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tell us about your "double-take" moments

........ after asked if it was a "Bentley"....... I replied, Nope, its a Hyundai.

He shook his head approvingly and said.... "Those Japanese really make a nice car".

I just smiled!

(I guess it not only the cars that all look alike)

Just had another...

Driving the Garden State Parkway this weekend my girlfriend says that the guy next to us is looking at us. I look over and he is in an Infinity G37X. He looks once... he looks again... he looks a third time so I nod at him and floor it.

Juvenile I know but still fun!

"we" were getting checked out at costo during a fuel-up. she comes over and sheepishly asks is THAT the new HYUNDAI??!! wooowww

Went to a hotel-spa this weekend with my wife. When the valet brought the car to the front of the hotel for our departure- he said that all the valets voted and said that the Genesis (4.6 ) was their favorite car in the lot by FAR!! He said they get plenty of very fancy cars at the hotel, but they were REALLY impressed with the car.

I'm at my local McDonald's early Sunday morning to pick up a breakfast (something I do maybe once a year). The kid at the drive-in window is staring and checking out the car as he gives me my stuff. I take off and look in the mirror and he is literally hanging out the window, still looking at the car, while the next person in line is waiting for his order.

My wife and I were leaving a parking garage in seperate cars - I pay first. My wife then goes through, and the attendant (not knowing she's my wife) stretches his head out the window to watch me drive off and says "look at that Bentley, that guy is obviously living right." Yes, I have the wings on both back and front.

Nice.

I have experienced far too many glances, stops and stares while owning my genesis. I have black 4.6 w/tech & full badge change out with dark tint all around. I have to say the funniest experience was when we made a road trip to LA. Saturday night with a full evening planned. Cocktails at the the Bev Hills Hotel where there were 5 guests checking out the car when it was waiting for me at Valet. Tons of questions! Then it was off to Koi on La Cienega where it was hard to get in to the restaurant because everyone was asking what it was and complimenting how good it looks. Next morning, driving on Sunset when a guy in a Jag XF pulled beside me and motioned to open my window. Once again, the comment was "what kind of car is that" and "thats a great looking car". This car has garnered more attention and comments than any MB, BMW, Lexus or Audi I have ever owned. CAN'T WAIT TO GET MY EQUUS ULTIMATE!

Forgot this Las Vegas moment... I was dining at Aria in City Center and when I came out to pick up my car from Valet, I noticed the car make that he put on my ticket was nonthing less than "Bentley". Nothing better than saving $200K.

What a great story! - I picked up my 2011 this week. It will be funny to get these comments over the next few months.:)

Had a spot repaired on the windshield just this afternoon and when the guy arrived (Safelite Glass) and I showed him the spot, he commented that he had never worked on a Bentley before. I didn't respond...except with a smile. Our neighbor in the condo drives a jacked-up 4x4 and parks in the space next to us. He was parking a few days ago and his friend said that HE must be doing good...living in the same building with, and parking next to, a Bentley. Said he told his bud it was a Hyundai and got the WTF response! The wings do tend to make for some good conversation!

Driving from the dealer about 15 min after picking it up. Guy at stop light says "That's a Hyundai???" I say yep. He says "damn that is sweet I thought it was a Mercedes". 10 min later guy @ tool booth says "wow sweet ride".

I was having lunch at Hooters today and a guy came over to my table to ask if one of us was driving the black car out front. I said it was mine and he asked what it was because his whole table was debating it. I asked him what he thought it was and he thought it was a Bentley. I laughed and told him it was a Hyundai. I think his whole table was shocked. This would have been much better story if all of the waitresses were the ones drooling over it.

I got pulled over in Hillsboro, Texas (a town between Austin and Dallas) for speeding a couple of weeks ago :-(. In any case, under make for the car, the officer wrote: BMW. Bittersweet.

Would that not invalidate the speeding ticket with the wrong car make quoted?

Probably, but I waited until the last day to contact the court so I just elected to take defensive driving before I got more fines.

Like others I get constantly asked about Genny so I came up with a new approach - I tell them I really can't say much as its a prototype and the manufacturer asked me not to say anything. Invariably they then ask if its a new baby Bentley, I just smile and say I can't say anything.

It's fun to watch their faces.

I'm sitting in my Genesis in Target parking lot, and see 2 guys walk by.
The younger one maybe about 12 or 13 tells the older gentleman, "Hey it's a Bently!"

I pull into Patronies Pizza for lunch. Father and son operation. Both intelligent guys who know cars. They're from NJ too so you know they're wise guys.

They, of course, think it's a Bentley. I find that the more knowledgeable people call out Bentley the most frequently.
