  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tell us about your "double-take" moments

I pull into Patronies Pizza for lunch. Father and son operation. Both intelligent guys who know cars. They're from NJ too so you know they're wise guys.

They, of course, think it's a Bentley. I find that the more knowledgeable people call out Bentley the most frequently.

Ron:cool:
But the Genesis is so much better looking than the Bentley!:D

I looked out my window at work yesterday and saw a guy walking past my car he turns his head and stops dead in his tracks. He peered in the window with a confused look in his face, looked at the grille, looked even more confused, started walking away, stopped looked at it again (still with the confused look), shrugged, and then went on his way. It was quite amusing.

Hey LasVegasGenesis I saw your car outside the 24 hour Fitness gym here in Las Veas...sweet. I'm toying with the idea of changing the "H" but I'm kinda of partial to it. I've seen only three other Genesis cars (excluding mine) in town (Northwest area). They were all the 4.2 variety with the coolest ,in my opinon, the White one with the dark window tint and original badges!

I was at a funeral at a National Cemetery. There was another funeral being held so I just parked my car up the hill from that service and waited. When the service ended this guy in a suit started walking up the hill towards my car. He had a name tag on his suit so I thought that he was one of the Cemetery attendents coming to let me know that I could pull up. I rolled down the window and he says nice car , I see you changed out the H emblems. He went on to say that he also had a 2010 Genesis and had changed out the H emblems and he said that he reads this forum and had seen the post about the issues with the tilt wheel and how so far he had not exsperienced the problem. I informed him that I had the TSB performed on my tilt wheel when it stopped working. He told me that he was one of the funeral directors and that they had come from out of town for the funeral I was waiting to end and when he saw my car he just had to come up and talk to me. Now my wife is in total awe and could not believe what was taking place. To meet another Genesis owner is one thing but to meet one who reads this forum is one in a million. Meeks, If you see this it was a pleasure to meet and talk with you.

OK I just lived through a Hyundai commercial. Went to get breakfast and a guy comes up and says " that's a REALLY nice car-- of course the usual :"what kind of car is it??". Then i walked outside and a young couple were circling the car and the girl says: this is a Hyundai-- like Sunday ?? I can't believe it, this is really beautiful !! The young guy then proceeds to ask me a million questions about the car, while she keeps circling around the car like a c&w line dance gone bad. Pretty funny--- it really does get it's share of attention. I'm not one to believe my car is more than it is-- but being unique is a benefit.

Funny how this works:) Just got married today 9/25 and I had 3 couples say "wow, I didn't know you guys rented a Bentley! How do you respond to that?? Easy, I simply said, "that's my Hyundai Genesis" They responded "Well, is it yours, or did you get from an exotic rental company?"

I said No, I own this Beast, and the looks too stupid:cool: Too many people that came had there 3,5, and 7 series (No Mercs sorry:() and were blown away by the Genesis. Then I raced ( yes, prior to consuming alcohol) a dudes 2002 Supercharged 325Ci BMW and smoked him:cool: BTW - There is only about 3 feet of tire spin and only crazy sticky grip after that with the new HTR ZRIII's:)

Congrats (on both counts)!!:grouphug:

Two mentions this past week:

I pull into a market parking lot and this big pickup truck is in the lot, preparing to pull out, but then backs up and and follows me to a parking spot. Woman gets out of the passenger side, flailing her arms at me! So of course, I know what she wants! Roll down the window and she and I had a nice conversation about the Genny...mine has over 18,000 miles on it and I just still adore the car! She said she is in the market, and is going to look at one, and thank you very much!

Then I pull into my favorite thrift store (let's face it, for a luxury car, the Gen is a thrifty purchase, and I'm a thrifty lady!) Anyhow, through the parking lot walks a Mom, with her 3 kids in tow. The little girl, couldn't have been more than 7 or 8 says, as she's coming around to the front near the grille "What a pretty white car", and looks right up at me and smiles so big! It was so cute!

I never noticed cars as a little girl....but this young lady is getting her preferences known early!!!!;)

My friend and former boss got "married" i a Catholic Church last night, 18 years after doing it with a Justice of the Peace. Most of the guests were members of our club, so they were familiar with both our cars. He bought a Genesis 3.8 after driving my 4.6. His TPMS failed, and Hyundai bought his back and he traded up to an '10 4.6 loaded. My '09 was traded out yesterday for a '11 4.6. I haven't had a chance to install the Wings on the trunk (although I did move the wheel caps over from the '09). We were parked side-by-side in the church parking lot. A guest that I don't know was walking past our cars. He said "Dude - that's a Bently....and that Hyundai looks just like it".

Here they are:

But the Genesis is so much better looking than the Bentley!:D

I have to admit that you are right, D.G. I've looked at photos on the net of every model that Bentley puts out and I really don't like the lines that well. They remind me too much of post WW II body styles, clunky and heavy looking.

Ron:(

Does this have anything to do with the ticket incident you mentioned in your other thread today? ;)

I get so many stares and comments and the car has been out over a year. Everything from new bentley, (Please add the badges all the way around), to beamer, to benz. People can't tell what it is, but they love it. The greatest was going through Delaware at the bridge, I look in my rearview and notice the entire car behind me, has their camera phones and digital camera's out taking pictures. Good luck Genesis owners we have arrived.

Got the "Bentley?" question in the parking garage at work today. This is the 4th "Bentley?" I've gotten

The vice principal at my daughter's high school flagged her down in the hall on the way to class and asked her her name. She thought she was in trouble for who knows what, suffice it to say she was anxious.

He then asked her what kind of car her mom was driving. "A Genesis" she replied. Who makes it was the next question, Hyundai was the answer. The conversation ended with "that's a great looking car".

Black/Black 4.6 tinted windows all the badges and chrome highlights on lower grill.

Stopped in the groc. store parking lot today and was asked about what kind of car and what options etc. The guy loved the car and really liked the V8 4.6. He said he was going tomorrow to take a test dirve after seeing my 2011 4.6. He had been looking at a new Volvo.

Visited my son at college this weekend. When we were walking back to car I noticed a guy checking it out. You could tell he was trying to figure out what it was. By the time we got to it, he had already gotten in his car so I don't know if he figured it out.
