  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

At the car wash yesterday while waiting on my 2011 4.6 another car wash customer saw my car and said to his wife " Honey, look, thats the Genesis that I been telling you about, we need to drive one." Sounds like a future owner. Also the boys drying the cars off kept checking it out bumper to bumper.

Last Saturday I was getting out of my car in a Sam's Club parking lot when a lady asked me the name of my car. I told her it's a Genesis and it's made by Hyundai. She said she was curious because she didn't see any brand emblems. I told her that it came with the slanted H emblems on the trunk, wheels, and steering wheel but I replaced those with the winged emblems that you see now to improve the car's ride and handling.

A friend was riding in the back seat. After a while he started looking around and asked what kind of car is this - a Lexus. Told him it was a Genesis. Who makes that was his next question. Hyundai. He was very surprised. I've also had guys working at an Auto Parts Store ask what my car was. People just don't believe it is a Hyundai.

Damn, I didn't think anyone would find out where I got my wing emblems.

I was driving my car earlier this week and a woman was driving next to me. Her husband was in the passenger seat and started pointing at my car. Of course, my car was shining like a new silver dollar and the Armor all on the tires was sparkling. I could tell he wanted my car. What a great feeling to own something that cool!

I was stopped at a railroad crossing. Waiting for the train to pass, a pedestrian kept looking at my car. He finally came over to my window and asked how I liked the Genesis and stated what a fine car he thought it was BUT what surprised me most was when he commented on how well he liked the Mercedes Benz V8 emblems on the side of the car. He then said, "I DO KNOW MY CARS, DON'T I?" I was impressed.

Dropped my SL500 off at body shop and my wife came to pick me up in her Genesis. The body shop guy says "Man-what type of ride is that? a Bentley?". I said no-it's the new high end Hyundai Genesis. He says " A Hyundai!!!". YUP and proud of it.

A Boy Scout troop was holding a fund raiser at the exit of my local hardware store. As I approached my car, the Scoutmaster came over and remarked that he'd walked around the car a couple of times and couldn't figure out what make it is. I told him Hyundai and he was amazed. I showed him the interior and he asked me a bunch of questions and said he was going to visit his Hyundai dealer for a test drive. I bet you could fit a whole troop's worth of pup tents, merit badges and lanyards in the trunk of a Genesis! .:D

At a restaurant in Shallotte, NC this morning, I had parked in the "chosen" safe parking spot right by the front door. As my wife and I were pulling out the hostess came running out and flagged us down. I rolled down the window to hear her say, "A customer in there said someone out front was driving a Bentley and I told him it was a Nissan, right?" I corrected her an smiled as I pulled out. :D

Ron:rolleyes:

At a neighborhood Halloween party last night, I was asked what my new car is. A Hyundai Genesis I replied. A look of relief followed with the response, "It sure looks like a Bentley but I couldn't believe YOU'd actually be driving a Bentley."

What the hell, I guess it's time to bump this thread. Fire away!

Wife had family over and her cousin asked me if that was my Aston Martin in the garage:)

Its funny how people don't know anything about cars.

I've seen like quite a few 2012's recently.

1 black with front and back wings, a few silver, 1 platinum, 1 red, 1 white.

What, only 3 posts ahead of this one since October, 2010? ;) I've gotten a few double-takes on the road, and another at the gas station when I filled up the other day. It's the wing on the back that throws them, making them think it's a Bentley or something. The slack-jawed reaction is worth every penny I paid. I never got that with my previous 2001 BMW 740i Dinan.

I took my 2012 Rspec into my local dealer for the first oil change a couple of weeks ago. As I was waiting for the service writer to approach, a gentleman came out the door from the customer waitaing area and circled around the back of my badge-wearing Genny looking in the windows and leaning way over to read the labels on the trunk. Then he walked up to me with his nose fairly close and a sneering frown on his face. He asked in a very puzzled tone, "Why would you bring a Bentley here?" I explained it wasn't a Bentley but a Hyundai. He almost fell over, "That's a Hyundai? No it can't be. They don't make anything like that.....do they?" While relaxing in the customer service area, he would look over at me every few minutes, shake his head and mutter, "That's a Hyundai. I had no idea! It is fantastic!"

I had another passive-aggressive driver in an A4 speeding up and pulling back and than speeding up again. In fact, he nearly encountered concrete where there are lane barricades in one of our construction-zones-from-hell.

Happened to me too - got asked about the car

I parked, and was walking into the bank, when a corolla-esque car stopped and asked me "Excuse me, who makes that car?" I said it's a Hyundai Genesis. he said "That is a great looking car, wow!"

I was going to talk more, but a big van was coming around the corner, and it was one of those situations where I had to get out of the way, and he pulled away, still staring at the Gen. That never happened to me before!

I still get the looks, even after 4-5 months...

BTW, I merged your thread with this existing one.
