In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. TUTORIAL: 2015 Genesis trunklid KDM "Wings" Emblem installation

Is anybody going to be anal enough to replace the flying H on the air intake to the wings? I'm almost ashamed to say that I might be the one who does it. I also want to know what size air filters lurk in those boxes. I guess that I am going to have to move those support bars this week.

If it embarrasses you that much, be sure to scrape those Hyundai logos off your window glass too.

Not ashamed of the flying H, just a fan of the winged logo. My statement was about being embarrassed to admit that I would be that anal about the car. If I was ashamed of the brand I wouldn't be on my second Genny and I would have paid the extra 30k for the BMW or Benz.

Yep, me be anal. :D

What wings are you going to use? I was looking at mine and the drunk-H is recessed into an oval. I'm not sure that if you filled the oval that the wing emblem would still fit under the hood. The gen1 wings might work, not sure how I feel about two different wings though.

WTB: Aftermarket dual cold-air-intake with a roughly similar center box style that has a cut out for the KDM wings...

I wonder what the KDM Genesis have under the hood. If they have a cover with the Wings then one might consider ordering the entire cover rather than trying to fit the wings into the oval.

KDM doesn't have a 5.0, so no dual intake with the splitter box where the H is.

Not sure yet but have both the new and old style handy. Whatever fits best I guess. Maybe need to make up an abs filler plate to fill up the flying H indentation. Need to get my car first to see what is the best option. ;)

thanks for the instructions on how to take the "H" off ,didn't have to heat it up too much .The leveling and centering I used my own method ,I used a fabric measuring tape to measure from the end of the wings to the end of the trunk ,and the end of the wings to the bottom of the trunk

Nice job Genesis2015! It's starting to look easier. (I think) hehe

I just purchased Korean Auto Imports 2012 - 2014 Genesis Sedan *NEW* 15+ Wing Badge Emblem Logo Hood/Trunk (Option: REAR/TRUNK LID) Wing.
This is for my new 2014 Rspec trunk lid.
I assume it is the larger version of wing, what would the alignment pegs be vs. the cars hole pattern? Thanks

The flying H has not changed over the years so basically what you see being done above will be the same as previous models. Remove the H and grind the pegs off of the new 2015 wings, center and stick.

Very useful post - thanks for taking the time to detail this out! I wish Hyundai sold the badges with the holes in the correct spot, it would make this a much simpler process.

I noticed that the wings do not lay flat. See picture - the middle is about 1/8 inch above the surface even though the tips of the wings are touching the surface. This is after removing the pegs and making sure they were ground down to not protrude. Is this normal?

It is to match the contour of the trunk. When you test fit it on the trunklid make sure that it is flush against the surface.

The contour of the trunk lid changes both horizontally as well as vertically from the center. The wings are designed to fit in one particular location.

Thanks, that's what I was hoping and not that I just got a bad one. Only have had my 3.8 for a few days so I think I will wait a week or so before actually putting the wings on the trunk (if I can wait that long - :D )

Can anyone tell me the exact location of the wing tips? i.e. exact measurements from the bottom lip of the trunk? It seems to me there is some leeway there as long as the holes are covered but I am not sure how to ensure it is EXACTLY where it needs to be. The measurements side to side I could figure out since it would be whatever it needs to be to be exactly centered, but up and down is what I am most confused about since it really isn't in the exact center of the trunk, but more in the center of the flatter part of the trunk.

Great News - I just received my "1 x 2012 - 2014 Genesis Sedan *NEW* 15+ Wing Badge Emblem Logo Hood/Trunk
(Option: REAR/TRUNK LID) " from Korean Auto Imports and the alignment pegs are gone! In there place just the 3M adhesive tape...ready to align and stick on. Therefore, no cutting or grinding and these wings are big compared to my 2010 add on wings...very happy. Didn't look forward to going thru the trimming process.

That's fantastic. I wonder if the wings are bigger than the ones the rest of us purchased up until this point?
