Hi,
I was on a mini vacation in Las Vegas. I stopped by the Hyundai dealer and they had four of them. I took a short drive in a base white 3.8.
They had a "Market Area Adjustment" of $7995 added to MSRP.![]()
oh wow! My dealer only wanted $2000 dealer markup above MSRP, which I thought was bad enough. $7995 is outrageous.
Dealers forget that people have memories. Once inventories increase those dealers that tried to screw their customers will most likely be black balled for a period of time.![]()
I completely agree with your comments regarding the $2000 mark-up by that specific dealer. The V8 Ultimate at $55,885 MSRP is already $7,865 higher than the 2013 Rspec. All I really want is the new seat, and ability to change from normal to sport mode. I paid $40,000 new for the 2013 Rspec. So If I bought the 2015 V8 for $55,885 minus about $3,500 mark-up, that would be $52,400, or $12,400 more than my 2013 Rspec for a new seat. That would be the worst investment ever. These cars will be discounted shortly once stock increases, and it will. The charging of markups like that for a car which is not some sort rare of limited edition or one of a kind model is ridiculous. That is a dealer who will have a very unhappy customer weeks later.
I would revisit the dealership after inventories increase and demand an identical discount to the over MSRP price they were asking. I would not be successful but I would like to see the look on their face as I drove away without buying.
When a new hot product is released such as the playstation 4, individuals could resell the console on eBay for more than MSRP, but authorized stores could not. I'm surprised dealers can charge more than MSRP.
They had import quotas back then on Japanese cars. I signed a contract for a 1986 Accord LX-i for list price just when it first came out and the dealer only had one demo, and when the dealer finally got mine in few weeks later and I picked it up, I noticed they were going for more than list price.Same thing happened with the first Honda Accords, way back circa '76, and many other hot cars long before that. My first Z car was also sold above MSRP.
Wish my 4.6 had the seats from my e39 540 Sport Touring... the new BMW seats are even better.
I called 3 Hyundai dealerships. 2 of them are adding a markup to the car. Pretty obvious which dealer I'm going to buy from, even if I have to wait a bit.
So I was told today by the dealership that Hyundai stockpiled these cars at the port and is now just delivering them out to the dealers. I got 3 phone calls from different dealers saying they are here. I asked about the 5.0 Ultimates and I was told they are not even building them yet. Has anyone seen a 5.0 Ultimate? Just curious.
