If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When will the 2015 Hyundai Genesis be at dealerships?

Hi,
I was on a mini vacation in Las Vegas. I stopped by the Hyundai dealer and they had four of them. I took a short drive in a base white 3.8.
They had a "Market Area Adjustment" of $7995 added to MSRP.:(

oh wow! My dealer only wanted $2000 dealer markup above MSRP, which I thought was bad enough. $7995 is outrageous.

Dealers forget that people have memories. Once inventories increase those dealers that tried to screw their customers will most likely be black balled for a period of time.

I would revisit the dealership after inventories increase and demand an identical discount to the over MSRP price they were asking. I would not be successful but I would like to see the look on their face as I drove away without buying.

These gouging mark ups on new models never end well for anyone. For greedy Hyundai dealers, it will be even worse.

That would be the worst investment ever. These cars will be discounted shortly once stock increases, and it will. The charging of markups like that for a car which is not some sort rare of limited edition or one of a kind model is ridiculous. That is a dealer who will have a very unhappy customer weeks later.
I completely agree with your comments regarding the $2000 mark-up by that specific dealer. The V8 Ultimate at $55,885 MSRP is already $7,865 higher than the 2013 Rspec. All I really want is the new seat, and ability to change from normal to sport mode. I paid $40,000 new for the 2013 Rspec. So If I bought the 2015 V8 for $55,885 minus about $3,500 mark-up, that would be $52,400, or $12,400 more than my 2013 Rspec for a new seat.

My other option is to go with the 2014 535i BMW (with optional 20 way seats) which has the best seats out there IMHO based on the busted up spine I have. 2014 BMW would be $62,250 - $7,000 incentives/markup etc = $55,250, and I can get it now instead of waiting for the 2015 Genesis to come down with factory cash incentives, etc. Big decision here.

The BMW will still be a good car to sell later and get the 2015 Genesis once it is down in price to about $49,000 next year. I prefer the V8 Genesis, but I need to sell my 2013 Rspec to get a car with a good sport seat in order to drive the car. The 2013 Rspec IMHO is a truely great car, built really well, and fun to drive except for the specific seat needs I have due to spinal problems. I'm not going to live forever, so I need to get a good seat now not after another year.

I hate to sell a great car with 7500 miles on it, but I have to due to my spine. I honestly really love my 2013 Rspec, but trying to drive on a trip is way rough when it doesnt have to be. Ummmm! I need to go ahead and list my Rspec now vs waiting. As my son has said, 'The 2013 Rspec will be a great deal for someone' ). Regards, and thanks to the posters regarding information on the new 2015 V8 Genesis.

Wish my 4.6 had the seats from my e39 540 Sport Touring... the new BMW seats are even better.

The rims on that Empire State Gray 3.8 look very close in color to the car itself...or at least it seems to be much darker than the rims on the blue 5.0. Is that the case in person as well?

When a new hot product is released such as the playstation 4, individuals could resell the console on eBay for more than MSRP, but authorized stores could not. I'm surprised dealers can charge more than MSRP. I think if a store such as bestbuy tried to mark up a hot new product above MSRP, they would loose business from a loss of goodwill from consumers.

Same thing happened with the first Honda Accords, way back circa '76, and many other hot cars long before that. My first Z car was also sold above MSRP.

They had import quotas back then on Japanese cars. I signed a contract for a 1986 Accord LX-i for list price just when it first came out and the dealer only had one demo, and when the dealer finally got mine in few weeks later and I picked it up, I noticed they were going for more than list price.

Not only were the first Z's selling above list price, I heard that they pretty much only came loaded.

I went through this supply/demand issue with two previous cars, the Infiniti G35 Coupe when it first came out (2002/2003) and the Range Rover Sport (2006). Yes, I'm a sucker for 'hot' new models.

In both cases, the dealer would NOT charge over MSRP but had me put a deposit down to secure my spot in line.

I hope the dealers that chase short term profit by adding an additional markup get hurt long term by not getting as much inventory (I think the more you sell, the more you're allotted in the future).

I called 3 Hyundai dealerships. 2 of them are adding a markup to the car. Pretty obvious which dealer I'm going to buy from, even if I have to wait a bit.

I can't argue with that! best seats ever! I had a sport seats in my 540i and I used to drive frequently from Chicago to New Jersey with 1 or 2 quick stops, to get fuel and grab something to eat. After ~11 hours trip, I wasn't even tired :)

Dealers who gouge their customers will lose them and their friends in the long run. Although we here are gaga over the car, the fact is the Genesis is not an Acura NSX or exotic where being seen in one is a status symbol. The Genesis is the opposite - it is a car which appeals to those who are willing to forgo status for value. Hyundai dealers would be wise to remember this as they attempt make a few bucks off a temporary inventory problem which will invariable end with cars on the lot and a return to discounting. Without discounting, the competitions discounting will close the gap, making buyers face more options and less value.

I will relish the opportunity to have a dealer tell me to pay over MSRP and be able to laugh at them and turn and walk out forever.

So I was told today by the dealership that Hyundai stockpiled these cars at the port and is now just delivering them out to the dealers. I got 3 phone calls from different dealers saying they are here. I asked about the 5.0 Ultimates and I was told they are not even building them yet. Has anyone seen a 5.0 Ultimate? Just curious.

We just drove 2 5.0 Ultimate's out to Disney today for the HMA event, I posted a picture of the Monroney sticker off one of them. They had 2 more delivered to the dealership this afternoon which were also heading there. They will all be available for sale once returned to them in about 7-10 days, unless of course the owner takes one or something lol.

please resize those pictures to be a bit smaller their forcing the page to scroll to see everyone's post.
