  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello, I need your help on selecting the correct size tires without any modifications. I was just on the phone with a CarId representative discussing tire sizes for the rims of preference, and I was told the only way that 275/40/20 will fit the rear without rubbing, or the like is to roll out the finder or lower the vehicle. I would like to replace the 245/40/19 (Rspec Contis) with Front 245/40/20 and rear 275/40/20 (Hankook Ventus V12EVO), is this possible without modifications? Also, the representative stated that staggered fitment would not work (front 20 X 8.5 + 35 offset 5 X 114.3 Bolt Pattern, 72.6mm Hub) (rear 20 X 10 + 40 offset 5 X 114.3 Bolt Pattern 72.6mm Hub)
Thanks for your help.

You potentially can get it to fit depending on your alignment and suspension setup. I wouldn't listen to that guy on the phone. There's no such thing as "would not work," the answer is always how much money and time do you want to spend. As long as you're not too low, and when the suspension travels, the sidewalls don't rub the tires you're fine.

side note - if you take the car to get the fenders rolled by someone who's experienced in rolling fenders, you have nothing to worried about. If they know what they're doing, you'll get more clearance without any damage. Hell, in the right hands you can do a slight pull on the fenders and no one would know.

This is just a photoshop, but what do you think? I can pick these up cheap.

They are Verde Kaos
20x8
35mm offset
5x114.3
Gray with machined lip

Curty, that's going to rub quite badly. Those wheels are too wide/low offset and the tires are too wide given the room you have. Flush on cars is bad because it means you don't have room for suspension compression. This is why they need to be in set. Camber might help, but it's not adjustable on the Genesis from reading.

Brfatal thanks for the comments. Good thing the vendor guarantees fitment without rubbing and you can be sure the first sign of rubbing a phone call will be placed.

Looks good. I like the staggered look. You shouldnt have any rubbing issues. I have 20x 10" rear and 8.5" front / 275 and 245 tires. Ive had zero rubbing, even with a full trunk of stuff or the one track day I did with the r-spec (just wanted to compare it to the r-spec coupe).

Very nice Curtyrut! I see you went w/ the Vertini's (the inner lip stamping is the tell, unless Niche does the same thing?). Nice concave and match for a black r-spec..Reminds me of R/T Viper rims in some regards.

Thanks Sinstr, my true test will happen when two grown passengers are in the back. That is what concerns me.

Thanks KrazyFiend and you are absolutely correct with respect to the Vertini rims. Although the Niche stamps the inner rim, I was convinced to go with Vertini brand.

Hi, guys. Just installed some sporty 18's today. My 2012 Genesis came with the base 17" wheels so this is a substantial improvement. Not as flashy as the 19's, but I really like the new look.

Wheels: Moda MD11; 18x8; 35mm offset (Tire Rack house brand - 23.3lbs)
Tires: Goodyear RS-A High Performance All-Season (235/45r18)

Thanks, man. Appreciate the compliment. I was definitely feeling a bit sold short with the stock wheels given this was a luxury car and my neighbor's g37 came base model with 18's. I love this car. :)

Tirerack is awesome, btw. They called me to ask if I wanted a non-OEM recommended tire size, which was a nice courtesy. Highly recommend.

I might put some Ark lowering springs on next to improve the profile.
