Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"
I've had the car for 3 days and already have a long list of dislikes. Luckily, I have a longer list of likes. I have 3.8 awd ultimate.
-seat needs to go up 1-2 inches higher for those vertically challenged in the torso especially. The seat is so deep and I have limited visibility with left hand turns. Good thing I have all of these great safety features!
-it's be great to see the song that's playing in the instrument panel, HUD or navigation screens. It's stupid to have to click back and forth between nav and sxm do find out what the hell you're listening to.
- I feel very let down in the non-safety technology space. Siri integration is basic. I hope the rumors that
CarPlay will be coming to 2015 is true in addition to finally having actual apps to download. Pandora, spotify, Facebook anything. My spouse's mid trim Nissan Rogue even has that. The in-car menu navigation is so-so and the latest Genesis phone app is slim on features and stability. Shouldn't we be able to update the software/firmware via that phone app rather than a mandatory visit to the dealership? Imagine if you had to go to your cell carrier to take a new update to your phone... Nonsense.
-backup camera looks like garbage on that nice screen. Additionally, it'd be nice to turn cameras on when stopped and in gear. Saves the wear in the transmission if you're parking nose first into the garage and need to make sure the car is in far enough. (I'm not into tennis balls hanging from the ceiling and another feature my spouse has in the Nissan that I don't)
-if the mirrors flare out when you approach the vehicle, there should be a sensor on the door handle to unlock as you pull the door open instead of having to hit the button on the handle to unlock. Similar to ford and jeep who have this function.
-annoyed by the agreement page still showing at start up after changing the setting.
-daytime running lights are a major letdown. It's a sexy car and those orange lights make it look like an early 2000 Saturn. Blech
-related to the daytime running lights, the fog light omission is equally disappointing
-manual side shades are a letdown. Automating that would've been great.
-a power source and connections in the center storage area would be much nicer aesthetically versus two up front.
-no video inputs
-I would have LOVED a brown interior option like the Santa Fe. Ended up with black instead
-While I enjoy the 17speaker Grammy award winning system, the bass/low end is underwhelming.
-I'd love if the winged
badge in the front were also on the back lid replacing the H
- seatbelt connector way too low. An inch or 2 taller would be fantastic.
-finished wood steering
wheel would be nicer than all leather. Noisy when it slides through my hands.
And finally, a separate control over the LCD screen brightness would be great rather than having that setting tethered to the instrument panel brightness setting. 9.2 inches of screen at night is far more significant than the instrument panel even in 'night mode'
I think I can live with most of this stuff but I'd love if Hyundai took action to address some of these items for the new 2015 owners and the rest in future iterations of this new body style.
