  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Don’t mean to derail this thread but I remember your posts concerning the discomfort of your seats prior to the new car. Like to know if your concerns have been eliminated with the new car. Is it comfortable enough for you?

Ernie- sorry for late reply. Have not been on the site since few weeks ago. Regarding the seats, they are totally orthopedic magic. I can now drive my 2015 Genesis with the bolsters as tight as they allow. The auto industry should really figure out that such as simple option as Ortho bolster adjusted seats should be optional equipment. There are many folks with spinal issues that bolsters would help them with. Such an easy option and they have no clue. No issues with the seats. They are awesome needed orthopedic devices for me, and I love them. Regards.

What a ludicrous statement, even for an internet forum. Here we have a company, Hyundai, going way above and beyond the norm to delight their customers with free top name brand tires, if you decide you'd want them. Yet somehow you distort that into being screwed, ridiculous.

I agree greekgeek.... That comment was just stupidity and a sign of complete ignorance.

My letter for tire replacement came today as well. Looks like these Michelin MXM4 tires are H-rated so I guess my speed runs down I-85 will be a lot slower. :) Looking around at ratings, they seem like a really good tire though a lot of people weren't impressed with them in snow. Wouldn't be an issue here in the ATL as we barely get snow and I stay off the road if there is.

Can someone tell me what happened to continentals being used and now Michelins?

Continentals for the V8, Michelins for the V6.

Regarding the speed governor ... when was the last time you drove 150 mph? Dropping it to 130 is totally inconsequential. It does not effect performance at all, just the top speed which most of us will never reach anyway.

Someone asked if the dealer would admit to the lower governing speed on the new cars on the lots. When was the last time you bought a car, (or didn't buy), based on the top speed? When was the last time you asked a dealer about the top speed?

This insane griping makes no sense. Some people have to make negative comments about anything, especially good things. Hats off to Hyundai for doing the right thing.

You totally miss the point - it 's not about the top end that no one will ever use. It's about Hyundai not really telling us why they are doing this - specifically, what is the exact problem with the Hankook's? I like the tires and, other than minor flat spotting in cold weather, they have great handlng, are very quiet and provide a good ride. So, before I'd consider letting someone reflash my ECU because they want to put a lower speed rated tire of a completely different performance category on, I'd like to understand the real reason why Hyundai felt they needed to move from "W" rated Ultra Performance AS tires to lesser grade Grand Touring AS tires in the first place? The letter they provided is not talking about flat spotting - so what's the issue they are trying to address? Is it an issue that affected all Hankooks or just some? I'm puzzled as I do not experience any "tire noise and vibration" that is "amplified by road conditions" and I have almost 10K miles on the car and drive on all sorts of roads?

Two points about speed restrictions:

1. I would have to see proof that performance otherwise is not affected.

2. And, more importantly, the modification is done by a dealer - and I could tell many interesting stories about dealer screw-ups, like the time they did a "50 point safety inspection" on my car without asking - and when I got home, I did my usual checkup and found six lug nuts that were not even finger tight.

Anyone know when the replacement tires will be available? I am riding with one "donut". My dealership has no idea when the new tires will be available. I am going tomorrow to Pep Boys to get a new Hankook for $237 installed with tax. I believe Hyundai will reimburse me. I can't stay on the donut indefinitely. Anyone have an 800 # to call other than 5151??

What's the reason you are riding on the spare? I doubt Hyundai will reimbiurse you for a new Hankook unless the issue is a tire defect - even then, it's the tire warranty and not the car warranty, I believe...

At least two people in the Houston area, including myself, have already gotten the replacement tires.

I wasn't trying to be a smart-ass (aint nobody got time for dat!!); just letting you know that they should be in. Pester your dealer. My dealer is Texan Hyundai; you might try contacting their service department there if you're not having any luck with your dealer.

Just had both recalls taken care of on my car...tire ride is both quieter and smoother with the new Continental ProContct TX tires (I have the V8).

Hi tbenty,
I had a blowout on the FL Turnpike with the Hankook tire (back) and put the donut on. Called Hankook Corp. because I couldn't find the tire anywhere. They said to go to the dealership and take a picture and have the dealership fill out a warranty form to be reimbursed. I went to the dealership and they told me that they were replacing all 4 tires with Continentals. I have the 5.0 Ultimate.
I was the first one in FL and the next day they needed me to come back so they could get the serial numbers off the tires. (they need to be sure the tires were from a specific lot from the manufacture.)
The 3.8 V6 will get the Michelins and the 5.0 V8 Ultimate's will get the Continentals. I have put 1000 miles on the Continentals and they ride so much quieter. Go to your dealership and get them changed...it is a better ride!
ps. These tires run beautifully at 100mph, trust me I95 in FL is crazy and the wife was NOT in the car, ha ha.
