  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Post your custom wheels

Hello, I need your help on selecting the correct size tires without any modifications. I was just on the phone with a CarId representative discussing tire sizes for the rims of preference, and I was told the only way that 275/40/20 will fit the rear without rubbing, or the like is to roll out the finder or lower the vehicle. I would like to replace the 245/40/19 (Rspec Contis) with Front 245/40/20 and rear 275/40/20 (Hankook Ventus V12EVO), is this possible without modifications? Also, the representative stated that staggered fitment would not work (front 20 X 8.5 + 35 offset 5 X 114.3 Bolt Pattern, 72.6mm Hub) (rear 20 X 10 + 40 offset 5 X 114.3 Bolt Pattern 72.6mm Hub)
Thanks for your help.

I have 255/35/20 on 9 in wheel in the front & 285/30/20 on 10 in. wheel on Hankook Ventus V12EVO

i switched to General G-Max AS-05 255/35/20 & 275/35/20 doesn't come in a 285 much better ride and handling no rubbing on stock suspension and stock heights though far plan on lowering it a bit

Curtyrut - Carid is wrong. I have 275/35/20's in back and 245/40/20's in front with absolutely no rubbing. It all depends on your specific wheel choice and offeset you go with. The only issue I have with staggered fitment is the traction control light is always on. I was told by Radio City Wheels that it is because of the new TPMS sensors not being recognized by the car and that any Pep Boys will re-calibrate at little to no cost.

Hey I have the EXACT same setup. My TPMS light was on but the tire shop that did my alignment turned it off. NO MORE LIGHTS. :)

G80 Sport Wheels on my 2012 5.0 fit perfectly. The first time I saw those wheels I wondered what they would look like on my car.

How and where are you able to purchase G80 sport wheels? :) They look sharp!!

Thanks,on ebay i was very lucky to find take offs at a very reasonable price. At the time I had no ideal how much Hyundai wanted per wheel ouch.

Need help - custom wheels don’t fit!

Ordered new TSW Cadwell 18” wheels for my 2015 Genesis 3.8 that a local tire shop said should fit my car. They Didn’t, they tried one on the hub and the brake caliper rubs on the rim and scratched one of the rims so they couldn’t install them.
The wheels were 18 X 8 with 40 mm offset, backspace 6.125, bolt 5x114.3

How do you get the right wheels that won’t hit the brake calipers? Is there a spacer to make it work? Don’t know much about wheels...

Frustrated, it will cost a lot to ship back these wheels and one is damaged now.

I don't blame you for your frustration: I would be frustrated too! There are spacers you can get- I don't know offhand what the sizes are, but it's findable. I'd be a little concerned that the vendor:

1. Told you the wheel would fit if it didn't- did you order it at the correct offset?
2. Didn't talk with you about or offer spacers

Re: Need help - custom wheels don’t fit!

Local tire store thought these would fit. I ordered the wheels off eBay. What is the offset for the 2015 Genesis 3.8? I can’t get a straight answer.

Someone said to order Hubcentric spacers on Amazon... how do I know what size or thickness to order?

Stock Wheel Offset

Please note that whatever wheels you buy would have their own offset, but that page has all the measurements. Since this question gets asked a lot (I mean like a LOT), I wonder if Sal could make this post sticky somehow? I'll put this in a new post as well.

Thanks there is definitely an issue with the front calipers on our cars extending too far out for radical wheels without spacers or shaving. But if you nip a little off they fit just fine and I have seen no issue with caliper performance or failure and I am right at 77,000 miles

Did you nip off some of the calipers by grinding the excess off?

Proper selection of wheels shouldn't require spacers. Your wheels may have had the right offset but not eough clearance from the inside face of the wheel to the caliper based on the style. Backspacing dictates the distance from the hub to the inside edge of your wheel. Offset is from the hub to the centerline of your wheels. Take a look around the information is out there so you can select the proper wheels for your car. Image below for reference.

Good info!

Installed TSW Cadwell 18" Wheels, 1.5" hub centric spacers, painted the calipers Burnt Copper with the Genesis Logo. Got the Genesis caliper logo on Etsy.com
The tires stick out about 1.25" from the fender but I think the wide stance looks aggressive.
