  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

I never feel like there's a time where I need to signal exactly 3, 5, or 7 times. And the difference between using the touch blink and just turning on the signal is so minimal that it just feels unnecessary. The Auto wipers annoy me because they always seem to go too fast when there's not that much rain which makes for a noisier ride. I wish they'd just let me adjust the variable speed.

I never saw the need for 1 or 2 so I let it do three. Safer that way with a simple touch. Not earth shattering technology, but I do't see any negatives to giving other drivers a good warning.

As for the wipers, you can adjust to vary the speed. They will, however, speed up if you go faster or get a sudden deluge but you'd do that anyway.

FWIW, I did a little experiment in a left turning lane. There was an individual ahead of me with their turn signal on. It was a pretty long turning lane, maybe 150-200 feet. The light is terribly short and may give way for 5-7 cars, at most, to turn. I sat behind this individual, obviously, the whole time and counted 221 "signals" while waiting and after it shut off after the turn was made. I use my auto blinker feature when I move into that lane (3 step) and when I am making the turn.

Me - 6 blinks
Other - 221 blinks.

Traditional bulbs will last you about 5 to 6 years. Our LEDS may last up to 10 years. I used my blinker 98% less than that individual. Looking up costs, a turn signal replacement repair will be from $50-$150. Therefore, you can save about two trips to the dealership and $100-$300 throughtout the life of your car. Yes, I know, I have way too much time when I sit in the car and drive. Still, an experiment I thought I'd share. Before you slam me for not signaling, I do when I make maneuvers, not when I am 10th in line sitting in a TURNING lane; it's a waste of energy.

In the last 30 years, I have had 5 cars. I normally keep my cars for 10 years at least. In 30 years, I have replaced a headlight on one car. And no turn signal lights.

I've replaced 6 on 5 separate vehicles. I don't buy new which may be why.

Wow. I wonder if I have just been lucky. Only one of those cars was bought new. And one was a lease that I didn't include. Otherwise, I have generally bought used cars with a little warranty left.

I dislike that there aren't unlock buttons on the rear doors. Kinda annoying that I have to hit the front door button twice.

You have to hit the unlock button on the handle of the front door, which unlocks all doors, and then open rear door. I don't have to hit the unlock button twice on the front door handle....

Safety. It is for parking lots where people have been hijacked and robbed by someone lurking on the other side. Yes, it has happened often. This allows you to get into the car by just one door. Your wife of daughter may appreciate it some night.
On the passenger side you only have to hit the button once and all doors will open.

Really? That hasn't been my experience. I hit the button on my drivers side door handle once and it unlocks all doors and everyone piles in.

This! Many times over. There was a spate of assaults in the car park where I worked a few years ago. A female colleague was able to get in her car as someone approached from the passenger side and tried to open the car. She took off and was shaken (for a few days), but thanked the designer of this feature.

I believe you can set the behavior to either unlock all the doors with a single press of the button or only the driver’s door which I believe is the default.

From inside, yes, from outside, no.

Perhaps the Canadian version is different. From the manual:

Page 3-5
Unlocking
To unlock:
1. Carry the Smart Key.
2. Either press the driver's outside
door handle button or press the
Door Unlock button (2) on the
smart key.
3. The driver's door will unlock. The
hazard warning lights will blink two
times. Also, the side view mirror
will unfold, if the side view mirror
folding switch is in the AUTO position.
If you press the driver's outside
door handle button or Door Unlock
button on the smart key again
within four seconds, then all the
doors will unlock

Press the button on the driver's outside
door handle while carrying the
smart key with you or press the
unlock button on the smart key, the
driver's door will unlock. If you press
the button on the front passenger's
outside door, all doors will unlock.
Once the doors are unlocked, they
may be opened by pulling the door
handle.

You can change the unlock setting in the menu in the dash cluster. It’s between one and two clicks. This is for tech packages. Idk about you all without it.

Never been an issue for me so I never looked. Found this:
Two Press Unlock To activate or deactivate the two press unlock function. If activated, the driver's door will unlock if
the door is unlocked. When the door is unlocked again within 4 seconds, all doors will unlock.

Ok. I guess the previous owner of my car must of changed the setting so it unlocks all doors. That's if the default setting from factory is set for just drivers side door.

I like it better when all dorms unlock. I put things in the back seat quite a lot so one touch is convenient.

>>>>>I like it better when all dorms unlock. I put things in the back seat quite a lot so one touch is convenient.<<<<<

Indeed, it's also a better option because your front passenger, not unreasonably, will think their door will open the same time as yours
leading to that emabarrassing moment when your are inside cussing and operating the door unlock switch while your passenger is
outside and cussing and clawing at the door handle.

I hadn't seen that before. That was funny 😁

Thats funny..... Thats for the suggestions. Changed the settings to unlock on one button.

So....does this feature qualify for a 'Dislike' or 'Like' on the '2015/2016 Generation Genesis' scale? ;)
I happen to like the customizable option.

If it's set to the way that you don't like and you're unaware that you can change it, it's a 'Dislike.' :P
