If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Tesla CyberTruck

Over 20,000km a year doesn't seem that low but maybe.

For others' reference, this is ~12,500 miles a year. That's not exactly that high... I put up those numbers just going to/from work

There are a lot of Tesla owners that are wild with the free charging. Think of it as if a certain brand had a deal with a chain of gas stations to provide free petrol -- we'd see a lot more popularity at those gas stations! I can appreciate I can charge for free for the life of the car, but I certainly won't waste the time to do so by waiting in line or going out of my way to do so. Charging to full every night at home is convenient.

I have 89k miles on my 2015 santa fe no issues at all , i just do regular maintenance and I bet my maintenance invoices and gas receipts since Ive own the suv still wont add up to that price tag of $100k for a tesla s.

I had no idea a 100k car was more expensive than a 35k car, thank you for the insight! :p

The Electric Hyundai Kona (46k MSRP) and the Tesla Model Y (base 48k MSRP) would be better candidates at a matchup compared to the petrol Santa Fe. Both would beat out a new Santa Fe in a cost of ownership comparison over time, even though they're more expensive.

This makes no sense.

You are assuming these people did not charge at home...and went off the beaten path so they can charge for free elsewhere? Huh?!?!?! WTF ?!??!

This was on Black Friday...a shopping shit-show. Perhaps these people were out in heavy traffic...shopping around...blowing through their bundled up energy (in more ways than one). As a result...they cannot get home to charge for free...and have to charge on the road or else they are stranded !!! Do they have backup gas cans that you can fill up with electricity...LOLOLOL.

Point is...these people were f'd...and would be stranded unless they charged up...and that is what they had to go through.

Teslas suck.

people buy Ev cars thinking that over time and in the long haul would be cheaper to own than a petrol car due "no gas and low maintenace". thats false.

Some people do exclusively charge at the stations. I personally prefer to charge at home and pay the electricity company, that's just a time value component there and everyone's situations are different. Black Friday being so popular, you're going to see more traffic on the roads either way. This is similar to a hurricane coming through Florida and everyone making a gas rush and waiting on lines there.

That's not saying the network is perfect, it certainly isn't anywhere, it's nice to see Tesla making strides in providing and expanding the supercharging network worldwide. No other manufacturer has even come close. They even literally bring out mobile massive battery packs for people to charge at peak popularity. As time goes on and battery/charging chemistry improves, we'll continue to see massive changes that will have the EV market overtake the legacy markets.

It is less expensive. For instance, in a cost comparison between the loaded G70 (50.5k) versus comparable Model 3 LR (48.5k), the Model 3 will easily beat the G70 off the lot and in 5 years in a pure cost comparison. Even more so if you go longer. I do think the Genesis is overall a better looking car, however the safety and technology trade off of the Model 3 being the safest car out there along with being years ahead in technology is worth it for me personally though if I was in the market for a small luxury car.

what technology ? safety 5 stars is 5 stars, model 3 gets a 5 star and a genesis gets a 5 star the model 3s 5 is no higher so what makes it the safest? tesla is all a gimmick. tesla not even luxury its a eco brand/ vehicle " save money on gas and low maintenace"

The "skateboard" battery model that most of the full EVs statistically provides them with the lower chance of injury to the occupants versus a traditional car with an engine in front of the passenger compartment, it keeps the center of gravity lower as well. While both cars have 5 stars, I'll certainly pick the one that has the lower probability of injury. As for technology, Tesla is years ahead of any other manufacturer when it comes to the technical software/hardware in their vehicles.

If it was all a gimmick, it would not be the most valuable domestic brand.

Teslas suck.

Just a quick clarification: Tesla had to start charging some customers because a lot of their Model S customers would charge their cars exclusively at supercharging stations instead of at home. It put such a drag on their bottom line that they grandfathered in some customers and made new customers pay for supercharging (no clue on the rate). Obviously, these people didn't help the Black Friday situation.

The 5 star ranking provided by the NHTSA is a general benchmark. You have to meet a certain criteria to obtain that ranking. The Model 3 is better overall in those specific rankings, thus providing a lower rate of injury. This isn't just theory - it's fact and numbers based. Same thing with the ownership cost being less.

The battery technology and chemistry is years ahead of any other comparable manufacturer. The software is it's own animal, autopilot and self driving advancements are incredible. I tested out the automatic non-responsive stop feature in my S the other day - I let Autopilot run it's course and provided no input (simulating a medical emergency or falling asleep). The car automatically put on the hazards, slowed down and stopped. Any other car I've driven would of barreled into something. That's just one technology example, but yeah, it's overall the most fun I've ever had driving any car. I think one day even you will embrace the technology too.

auto pilot, smart cruise same, manufactures had this feature before tesla . tesla just named it a attention grabber "auto pilot" instead of a advanced cruise control but again trendy tesla owner like apple owner think they did it first same with the emergency stop other manufactures have that . . last i heard the self driving cant even read parked cars and is no use in city driving. if your sleepy why drive, i wouldnt even trust my life with that. so stop acting like you tesla owners are on to some thing that we all have no clue about when in reality its been here ,tesla just playing you guys a fool and names common features something different.. bro my family memberS tesla 3 doesnt even have real leather. rear sunshades or heated and cooled rear seats. ground breaking indeed . I have 3 members of my family with teslas 2 duel motors model 3s and one with a S.

Wait...don’t you mean this? Also dead...

yes, it was stupid AF. just because I like Tesla doesnt mean I cant acknowledge when their batshit CEO does something completely idiotic. I also think this truck is stupid, some of their ideas are stupid (falcon doors on the X anyone?). Just like how Genesis is stupid as hell to let shitty dealers kill their brand. Glass houses and all

There's a lot of misconception and misinformation on our most valuable domestic brand, owning both Hyundai and Tesla I'm happy to clarify and discuss those. They have the most advanced technology right now out of any mass production automotive brand that I've seen. Their goal is not to provide a superluxury cruiser experience, which I certainly miss certain aspects of (One of my friends literally redid the entire upholstery in his X to rectify this), but to accelerate the movement away from traditional oil into a more renewable world. The safety and the technology is enough of a trade of for me personally. Everyone is different in that aspect of what they are willing to trade for what they want in an automobile, I can respect your taste.

For the S, I've got a 240v feed which provides a little over 19 kW of charging power. I get about 30-35 miles an hour at home, more than enough for what I do. One of my friends has a 3 and she gets around 45 miles per hour on my charger.

No one is perfect, I certainly appreciate Musk's approach on the industry however. No traditional dealerships, no negotiations, feels like Amazon prime ordering the cars! Of course, you've got to wait sometimes months because of the demand (or years on the preorders!)

Makes you wonder if the Cybertruck glass breaking was a long game to get more attention. It was hilarious either way though :)

please stop trying to convince yourself that you made the right choice and you out smarted everyone else and that your on to something new.
