Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"
The other navigation systems I've used (Mercedes and Lincoln) have removed streets progressively as I zoomed out. This allowed me to find a happy medium between showing the streets I need and seeing streets at a far enough distance to plan for my turns. The system in my Genesis removes too many streets too quickly. On the 700' zoom level it shows almost all of the side streets, then on the next level out (0.25 mi IIRC) it shows none of them.
It is clear to me that this system was designed for large cities and major interstate highways, not rural areas. The auto zoom works perfectly on the interstate and when exiting from the interstate to the city. Even in the country the zoom level chosen by auto zoom is appropriate for the speed of the road, but it shows too few streets at that zoom level, and often shows a nearly blank screen (usually just the road I'm on).
Given the size and resolution of the 9.2" screen, it can certainly support showing more side roads without cluttering the map. During my last service, my loaner Elantra had what looked liked very similar software on a much smaller screen. I suspect the system may have been designed to support smaller screens.
The road on which I was driving has only disappeared on a couple of occasions. I believe I had auto zoom off each of those times. Each time it happened, I could see the road if I zoomed in close enough, but that was too close anticipate upcoming turns.
