Driving settings aren't persistent. Drive mode always resets from Eco/Sport to Standard when starting the car, for example. Probably some dumb government regulation as to why Cruise Control also begins disabled, since it's that way on all brands and models of cars. The AM/FM radio doesn't start on the presets column if that's where it was last, it begins on the station panel, which means you must manually move it back every time or else the rotator will advance by frequency rather than to the next preset.

The software is a work in progress -

I would like to have the A/V screen default to the climate control screen, for example. And then, of course, there's the nanny screen - which nobody has the faintest idea how to permanently abolish.

Auto Unlock Re: 2015 Genesis "Dislikes"

I do a lot of driving of various rental cars with my job, and notice a lot of good/bad features. One small item that I wish the Genesis had is the auto-unlock capability. Basically if you are at the some cars with the fob in your pocket and pull the handle, the door automatically unlocks without having to hit the button. It's a small thing but makes too much sense.

Nanny screen can be set to turn off automatically after a short period of time....

Has anyone consulted an automotive electronics specialist to learn whether there's a way they can locate and delete the software coding that controls the Nanny screen, so that we'd instead only see the Genesis Wings splash screen on start-up? With recent stories about hackers being able to get into a car's A/V system to gain control of major mechanical components like brakes and steering, it seems that tech savvy individuals evidently CAN access - and possibly alter - a vehicle's on-board A/V system software - so I'm thinking that this very limited alteration might actually be doable by someone with the requisite expertise.

I've been thinking the same thing - but so far - nada.

And there's no setting on my car, at least, for turning it either off, or setting the duration of the nanny screen.

In fact, the thing has a mind of its own - sometimes, I'm backed out of my driveway and down the road without ever even seeing the rear view camera display because it is overridden by the nanny screen.

I don't think that's the way it's supposed to work. Mine is a 3.8 Ultimate, but the backup camera always over rides the nanny screen, but comes back on after I shift into Drive (unless I've hit the DIS knob before shifting into R).

At least in my Ultimate, there is a setting on the Nav screen to change the Agreement Screen setting to turn off after 10 seconds. See page 145 of the big Navigation System manual. (sure wish that manual was in a PDF format as it would be much easier and quicker to find things that way.)

On the "Settings" screen, select "General", then scroll down until you see the selection for the "Agreement Screen", then set it to your preference.

Mine overrides the nanny screen - except when it doesn't - which is precisely why my post is in the dislikes thread.

Sounds like you have a bug? I'd get it checked out.

No prob., I'll have the software experts at the dealer get right on it.

There was a long thread a couple months ago which detailed wacky nanny screen problems which make mine small potatoes by comparison - I'll wait for a fix to get rid of it entirely.

No I have actually seen the same thing Kn5owa is indicating - but only under specific circumstances:

Going into reverse within a few seconds of the engine starting. If the car is allowed to "boot" (really? so sad... lol) for any real amount of time like 20 seconds or so after start - then I do not see it and the cam does override the nanny. Seems like the system needs just a moment to realize the rear cam is there before it can switch the video source.

I'm not sure if we have different Manuals, since I can't locate the page you referenced. I have 3 publications: the very large general vehicle user's manual, a Car Multimedia System User's Manual divided into 10 chapters with paging by chapter, (e.g. page 10-6); and a Navigation System Quick Reference Guide which is 88 pages in length. Do you have some other manual with a page 145? i also don't seem to have a Settings screen tab marked "General". Where is this? Is it found on the Nav screen after you press the Set Up button on the dashboard? Or is it in the Vehicle Settings screen located between Speedometer and Tach? In both of those screeens, I haven't found a "General" setting.

What trim level is your G2? Signature, Technical, or Ultimate?

That will probably make a difference which manual you have for your system.

The title for the manual that I referred to is:

It has sections in English, French, Spanish, and Korean. The English section is 172 pages long.

That's interesting - I have a G2 3.8 with Signature and Tech, and wasn't given the manual that you have. Perhaps it's because the Ultimate package includes the "dial" type console-mounted control for Nav functions, and possibly the on-screen settings are slightly different too, for the same reason. That seems plausible, though somewhat surprising that Hyundai had to publish different manuals and use different screen software for the different option packages. In any case, it appears that while you can adjust the Agreement screen's display time, you can't eliminate it completely. Thanks for the quick response - I appreiate it!

The 2015 Ultimate has a COMPLETELY different head unit, operating system and control scheme (hardware an software) versus the lower trim levels.

BTW - there are two reasons why you can't completely eliminate the Agreement Screen: Stupid drivers and Lawyers! It's there for liability reasons - just like the sign on my lawn mower that warns me not to put my hand under the deck while the blades are spinning.

Are you talking about the "P" button which is for the Parking Sensors and is located next to the drivers side Heat/Cool switches?

The cup holder being on the other side is absurd. Now all the drink condensation will drop all over the controls. Horrible design.

Maybe it's just me but I have great difficulty discerning the edges and corners of this car. I'm super-paranoid about scraping up the right-side wheels (many hundreds of dollars to fix or replace) or bashing the front spoiler on a curb/wheel stop so I end up far too far left/back when parking the car.

Maybe it's just me but I have great difficulty discerning the edges and corners of this car. I'm super-paranoid about scraping up the right-side wheels (many hundreds of dollars to fix or replace) or bashing the front spoiler on a curb/wheel stop so I end up far too far left/back when parking the car.

One of the very few disappointments for me is that the car doesn't offer a "Bird's Eye View." I believe it is offered on some of the "lesser" Hyundai models and should be available on the Genesis.

One of the very few disappointments for me is that the car doesn't offer a "Bird's Eye View." I believe it is offered on some of the "lesser" Hyundai models and should be available on the Genesis.

Sounds nice. I recall surround view being available in other countries.
