  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015/2016 Generation Genesis "Dislikes"

I don't like that you need to pay a subscription to use remote start. I will not pay a subscription to use remote start, so my $55K car does not have remote start.....
You can still get an aftermarket remote. I've had them on a couple of cars.

I contacted someone about that and they didn’t want anything to do with it. Did you find a system and for how much? It’d be nice during the winter months here - you know, October through May?

compustar has systems compatible with Hyundai Genesis 2015 . But they usually deal via dealers only.
You would have to lookup a dealer and call them up.

I have a remote start. Don't remember the brand but it's integrated into oem key fob. Push lock 3x and it starts. Shuts down after like 15min. It's out there folks. Absolutely no problem

Ya that was kind of a rip, having a vehicle capable of remote start but not being allowed to use it is quite the jerk around.

You may have to contact a few people until you find a shop that is comfortable working on late model car smart key electronics. The job will not be for the techs with limited knowledge of modern systems.

I dislike that the map lights in the Genesis are special LED bulbs that only Hyundai makes which cost about $12 a bulb online.

Whole story; my passenger side LED map light is flicking and needs to be replaced, however the only solution is the OEM LED special type of bulb which like I mentioned cost $12 a bulb. I usually can buy several small 194 type LED bulbs for that price.

I ordered two of the OEM LED map light bulbs since the driver side will go out eventual as well I suppose.

Hey I noticed you're in Canada - I got my 2015 set up to use the factory key fob at this place: Our Locations | Action Car and Truck Accessories™
Maybe there is a location near you that will take your car? It was reasonably priced too.

I have a 2015 3.8 sedan. All three major packages 2wd. The owners manual is very confusing. Must be in the car when using it. Just about every item seems to have choices. Type A or B or is it Type 1 or2? I need to look in car to see which type I have. Its not my everyday driver and some icons are a puzzle. I must be getting too old for this stuff!

I really dislike that the headlights protective UV coating on my 2015 started peeling only after 3 years and really look bad now after 5 years. I will now have to polish off the old UV coating and apply a fresh UV coating to get my headlights looking new again.

The only plus is that my headlights are still clear looking and have not yellowed. The headlights just have a old film cover peeling look to them, which looks bad on such a nice looking car.

Dislike: For a while, when I went around corners I could feel a click, like the driver's seat wasn't completely tight. I could not hear it, only feel it and it was very slight. But in a car that everything feels so tight, it was an exception. Then one day, it was gone! I've gone through winter and summer and it no longer does it! WTF!!! Something lose doesn't tighten itself!?! But there you go! It's gone and I'm happy.

It's probably just mine... I have a rattle in the left side of the driver's area when I hit rough patches in the road, even at slow speed. Sounds like something metallic bouncing in a vent or other area inside the door or dash. I assumed it was a coin that had gotten into a vent or some such but I can't find anything. Any thoughts from y'all?

No idea. My 2015 is very very quiet on the road. You may have something in your door map pocket or console area moving around. Worst case, is that you actually may have something that is loose inside the door or dash that making the noise.

I've got no noises in mine. The click I was getting was a feeling in the seat with no noise.

First off, I love the car and plan on buying one once it becomes more of a buyer's market. I could write more than most would want to read on what I liked. Having said that, there were a few small things that I thought could have been better.

1. Rear view visibility. The sight lines out the back were very limited.

2. Hood rigidity near the windshield. I drove a black 3.8 Tech AWD on a sunny day and the reflection off the flapping trailing edge of the hood got really annoying. I'm a tall guy (6'5") so maybe it is below the view of most drivers, but it was annoying to me. Afterward, I popped the hood to take a look. The reinforcing ribs on the inside of most hoods (that provide rigidity) were only present in the front corners. As a result, the rest of it is considerably floppy. I plan to test drive another color as I expect Black on a sunny day was the worst case scenario.

3. Throttle response*. The asterisk is because my drive was limited and I only squashed the gas a few times, but when I did, it seemed like there was a deliberate delay before the acceleration came on. The acceleration seemed fine, though. Maybe this is something that improves or goes away as the computer learns my driving style? Hope so...

4. Not so much a dislike as a concern. The under body panels are not made of typical plastic. Instead, they look like some sort of pressed non-woven material. I'm guessing it is for sound dampening and I'm sure it was tested, but the materials engineer in me isn't buying the long-term durability.

2015 3.8 Sedan. Hood quivers like the others. Worst owners manual I've ever had! Should be split as most items have choices A or B type. Must be in front seat when reading it to see what you have. Also, the ventilation system is touchy in cool weather.

Many of us found it easier to download the manual rather than handle 516 pages. Rare that I have to go to the carto look at something to understand it.

As for the A -B. there is usually Ultimate or non and you will know which you have.

Not sure what you mean by touchy ventilation system. Try just leaving it in AUTO and let it do its thing.

I'd guess that it's something that fell into the chair rails. I have a bunch of small things in there and have no idea how to clean it out. My wife and kids regularly get my phone charger cord stuck in there as well.

Another dislike for the LED lights used in my 2015, because I just noticed today that my inner rear LED taillight on the passenger side is out. Luckily the signal portion of the light still works. A new inner rear taillight housing cost over $300, so I purchased a used one from Ebay for about $200.

I will take apart my failed unit and see if the circuit board can be repaired like on other cars with similar LED taillight burnout issues like BMW. The fix is usually a $2 component.

If I can correct the issue then i will just fix the issue myself before buying a taillight again if it happens on my driver side next or if the used taillight fail also.
