  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

Agree 100%

I completely agree with you. The back of the car is a bit of a let-down. I think at least some chrome at the top and bottom of the rear trunk lines would have helped.

Maybe they are saving the "real" looks for the new Equus coming next year. That's what I'm into next. If the Genesis is this good, imagine what the Equus will be like!!!

Had a chance to use the Genesis app for an appointment today. Impressed.

The app read my outlook calendar and had the address for two appointments and a recommended leave time based on traffic the evening before. In the morning, received an alert that I should depart earlier - sure enough a beltway accident had effect traffic. Arrived exactly on time. Once at the first meeting place for coffee, I had the other meeting down the road in my calendar. Got an alert to leave and that the outside temperature had risen and did I want to start the car now and turn on A/C to cool it down.

Technology that works and is useful.

My list of likes:
Soft closing doors, as in the doors that close fully if you dont give enough of a push when closing the doors (I believe this is only available in the middle east?)
The seats are extremely comfortable, and the headrest is soft.
The ergonomics/placement of buttons
Around view monitor when moving below 20km/h and while parking (again middle east)
Rear Cross Traffic alert
Panoramic Roof
The bass in the car
the style. OMG THE STYLE. In my eyes, Genesii are just as beautiful as a ferrari
The head turning
The details in the HUD
No mention of Hyundai anywhere (genesis come rear winged from the showroom)

To summarize: Everything in the 2015 Genesis

My best like happened this weekend.

My car is Manhattan brown but when it was registered, for some reason the papers show "Red". I got pulled over speeding and the cop said;

"This car is registered as a red Hyundai".

I said, "Yes, for some reason it showed red from registration".

He said, "No I mean it says its a Hyundai"

I say; "it IS a Hyundai"

He was, " whaaaaaaaaat...................???" and proceeded to check the VIN tag to confirm.

This may seem trivial, but I like the 4-spoke steering wheel. Too many cars are 3-spoke because that's supposedly "sporty", but I like to drive with one hand palm down on the bottom of the wheel, which a 3-spoke wheel interferes with.

It's been a while since anyone has said what they like about Gen on this thread, so I'll give it a go....

I really like the seat extender on the driver seat. I've been obsessed with it since I first sat in a Genesis at the NAIAS in Detroit last year. It was Tech package or bust for me since I had to have it. I ended up in a 3.8 Ultimate, so not only did I get the awesome HUD, wood trim, a dial knob and 3 extra speakers, but I have the seat extender that supports my thighs during long rides through farm country every few months.

I'll second that... It is a must have going forward in any car I buy. :D

I posted my “dislikes” in the other thread. I agree that it’s easier to count the few specific dislikes, as compared to the “likes” (basically, everything else). I’ve only had the 5.0 a few weeks and still have to familiarize myself with all the features, but compared to my first gen 4.6, my favorable impressions so far are:

Much better exterior and interior styling/design to my subjective eye. Masculine front fascia. A more refined, even stately looking, interior. Love the matte wood and aluminum, too.

Much better handling. Feels night and day.

Much better tech/safety features. Collision warning already saved me from a rear-end incident. Really appreciate little touches like the auto folding mirrors and Genesis logo-outlined puddle lights. When driving on roads where the speed limit changes without rhyme or reason, it’s nice that the LCD display shows the current speed limit.

Better seats (quality/design). I particularly like the adjustable side bolsters, adjustable thigh supports, and the contrasting color accent trim around the edge of the seats.

Carryover superlatives: standard adaptive cruise, smooth-shifting powerful engine, value-to-dollar spent

My European Genesis also have soft closing doors and 360 degree monitor :)
Those are not only for the middle east. I think the only option we don't have in EU is the Air Suspension

There is no air suspension on the G2.

Take a look at this web of Hyundai Europe

There is ECS

Interesting - I stand corrected as that shows that the European Genesis does have an air suspension. No such feature here in NA.

that's why Im wandering, in the offer I received from the dealer, there was written "adaptive suspension controlled by the drive modes"

I got my 2016 Genesis (AWD, Ibiza Blue, Ivory interior, Ultimate) a couple of weeks ago and almost daily I find something new I like about it. My favorite things so far are the heads-up display (exceeds expectations), the seats (side bolsters adjustments and leg extension are the highlights to what is all around the most comfortable vehicle seat I've sat in).

The entertainment system and corresponding controls are great, and I regularly switch between the dial control and touch screen depending on the task, so the flexibility to use both is much appreciated.

Today's first time use feature was with a component of BluelInk. I remote started the car using the Gensis app, then while in it it showed the event I was going to (since I had synced the app with my calendar), and it showed the time it would take to get to the event and that I should warm up the car before hand. That part I knew, however this was the first calendar event I had an address associated, so out of curiosity I clicked on the event in the app and sure enough there was an option to send the address to the car as a point of interest. I did this and when I got in the car (which was nice and warmed up), the NAV system notified me it had received the location and wanted to know if I wanted to set it as a destination. A few clicks and done. Very smart, very intuitive.

Feeling great about this purchase.

:welcome: aboard piratejack and congrates on your new ride. You will enjoy the next few months as you learn the car. It has a lot of bells and whistles to learn which is the fun part.

There is a lot to like about the 2015 Genesis including the fact that they fixed all the issues I had with the 2012 generation:
Sooty exhaust tips
Accelerator lag
Jittery suspension
Cheap looking dash buttons
Fuel filler funnel that kept tripping the vapor cut-off on the fuel filler nozzle every 10 seconds

Keep up the good work Hyundai.

A feature I just read about today and was unaware was on the Genesis - per Hyundai's website:

"Active hood system-A hood that protects the pedestrian's head in the event of an emergency. That's what you get with the active hood system, to absorb shocks as an actuator lifts the hood. Protection for pedestrian and outside it, too."

I couldn't find a Genesis video, but here is a Mercedes with the same feature:

Start at 1:05 and watch the hood pop up slightly.
