  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

A feature I just read about today and was unaware was on the Genesis - per Hyundai's website:

"Active hood system-A hood that protects the pedestrian's head in the event of an emergency. That's what you get with the active hood system, to absorb shocks as an actuator lifts the hood. Protection for pedestrian and outside it, too."

I couldn't find a Genesis video, but here is a Mercedes with the same feature:

Start at 1:05 and watch the hood pop up slightly.

They may have this on certain models outside of North America however I have never heard or read about this feature on the Genesis in North Americe. I am sure they would tout it if it was there.

I think it is all G2 Genesis as it is likely built into the hood design - not an add on feature. I saw it mentioned on the Sonata and Elantra too.

From the link below:

"All-New Genesis has also been designed to help protect other road users – when imminent impact with a pedestrian is detected, its active hood is lifted to absorb shocks and minimise the risk of injury."

I would think the mechanism should be fairly easy to locate if this feature is on the U.S. version. I will check this evening if I remember and it's not blistering cold out. I also have an oil change tomorrow so I will inquire.

I've got roughly 3,500 miles on my 2G so far so I figured I've had it long enough and driven it enough to list some of my likes. I have not had any issues with this car up to this point yet and I like many, many things about it. Below are just some of the highlights that seem to stand out for me on a consistent basis. I have a 2015 V6 AWD Empire State Gray with Signature & Tech packages.

Styling - I love the way this car looks. It's obviously one of the main reasons myself and the rest of you have them. I can't think of the last time I saw one on the road other than mine to be honest so the fact that they're fairly unique in that aspect makes me appreciate my purchase even more.

Drive modes - 90% of the time I am either in Eco or Normal and between those two I don't notice a big difference but there is some. I do like all 4 options though, especially Snow. I know in another thread on this board that several people have gone so far as to say they hate the snow mode as they think it is unsafe in certain situations. My experiences have been the complete opposite. I don't use Snow mode very often, only when roads in town are snow covered or a highway/interstate has ice/snow sporadically. In both scenarios I've found it to be very beneficial. It really does a great job of keeping the RPM's low to do everything it can to avoid any tire spin. In any case, I like all the drive mode options.

Sound system - This is another one where some people seem to maybe disagree on. I personally love the sound system. I will say that whatever music you're playing does sound pretty bland when the volume is at level 15 or below. It just seems to take any bass out of it at those lower volumes. Anything above that though and this sound system kicks ass. I've found it to be very clear and just the right amount of treble/mid/bass. It also does not have any distortion when you crank it up to high volume which is great and in my opinion really where the sound system shines.

Seats - They are all very comfortable and I love the amount of adjustable settings on the drivers seat in particular.

Adaptive Cruise Control - I know that this isn't unique to the Genesis but this is my first car with this functionality and I absolutely love it. I won't get another car that doesn't have this feature. My only minor complaint would be that its response time on accelerating is a little laggy. Overall though, love this feature.

Grocery bag hook thingy - This one is obviously minor but I love this little engineering thing that they've created. I use it every time I get groceries. It does exactly what it's supposed to. Long gone are the days of getting back to my place, opening the trunk and half of my bags have tipped over and/or spilled its contents.

I immediately noticed that my 2016 has more bass at lower volume settings than my 2015 did. There is now the same bass at a volume of 10 that was requiring 15 - 20 on the old car. Perhaps a small change was made or maybe just unit-to-unit variation?

Agreed - I just wish there were 3 hooks as the trunk is wide enough to accommodate that!

I would be surprised if Hyundai would go back to Harmon for changes like that when they have touted how much went into the tuning of the system. Sound perception is such a tricky thing and dependent on so many factors.

You mean Lexicon, right?

Edit: Nevermind, I just saw that Harmon owns the Lexicon brand. Carry on...

I literally got out of the old car and into the new one within a half hour and immediately noticed it (same source material and same settings). My wife even made an unsolicited comment and she typically doesn't notice stuff like that. Maybe unit variation or firmware?

Just turned in a week long rental, oh man did I miss the Genesis experience! A year in and still loving it.

This has probably been mentioned in the 50-some pages of this thread, but I really like the brake feel. Smooth, like fartin' through silk, as a friend of mine says.

Hi everyone - new owner here ('15 AWD Ultimate.) My 100 day review:

This car has actually grown on me since I bought it. In no particular order:

1. Incredible value for dollar. Not sure Hyundai is as happy about that as I am.
2. Body shape. Aggressive from the front, flowing from the side (but generic rear.)
3. It is both easy to drive and has enough power (for me.)
4. The HUD. This should be in every car - it's a safety issue.
5. All the other driver aids. It's good to have some backup in case I f**k up.
6. Geek factor. So many bells and whistles, so little time!
7. Interior space, and the comfortable and roomy rear seating.

And I could go on. I like this car so much I try to get new people to drive it whenever I can, I just love showing it off that much!

And well you should. After 15,000 miles it has not lost any of its charm for me. Congrats and enjoy the ride. ;)

:welcome: aboard and congrats on the new ride. At just over 24,000 miles and still enjoy it as much as I did the day I brought it home back in September , 2014. What color combo did you buy?

I got black exterior and the grey interior. That was almost one thing I was going to add to the dislikes; there's an awful lot going on in that interior texture and color wise. I probably would have picked black/black myself but higher powers chose it so I love it!

Hey Ernie, didn't I run into you recently?

Yes we did meet at the “Dislikes” thread with minor points. I can appreciate the color thing my first choice was red and second was black but as you say the powers to be preferred Empire Gray and Black (which is really like dark gray) interior. It would have been my third choice anyway.

Guys, I went with the Black and Tan......no regrets...yes, I wash it at least 2x a week but it get.s such looks....I believe I'd wash it that often regardless of the color.
A great car. A great value....nuff said.
