In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. 2015 Genesis Tech Package - Front turn signal bulb blown - LED Replacement?

Ugh. My turn signals are constantly burning out. I was just googling it to see if I could find a guide to swapping them for LEDs. I often get them to be replaced since they often burnout within a few months of my last visit. This has to be the biggest issue I have with my car. I was thinking it was some sort of short. I have replaced bulbs in this car more than every otter car I have ever owned.

I have a very early production 2015 3.8 Tech.

I just bought a pair of LED's from Pep-Boy's for my turn signals for $15 to give this a try. Not sure if my Canadian car is different from the US Ultimate V8 model, but its turn signals are ONLY for turn signaling. Daytime running lights utilize the LED strips underneath and along the outer edge of the light assembly - not the turn signal bulb. I haven't taken the air boxes out yet to get at the bulbs/base, so am not yet sure if it's a single contact on the bottom as previously mentioned or not. Even if it's a single, it would make sense that since the turn signal base is only energized for the flashing signal it should work for flashing my new LED's (unless Hyundai reversed the wiring polarity). The LED bulbs I have apparently have the resistor built in, but that's also a shot in the dark!

Same problem here- Hyundai Chantilly VA acknowledged the problem, replaced the L headlight assembly - so far so good. The DRL/Turn indicators usually burn out for me after a 5+ hour drive and usually the L first (since I am always using it to pass!!). Dealer also gave a small indication Hyundai was "working on it" - like the pano no doubt. ugh.

I've had my 2015 Genesis for about a year and haven't blown a bulb yet. That includes a drive from Maine to Florida. I did rewire mine so that the DRL is on the LED strip and the blinker is just a blinker. That may be why mine haven't blown as they're only on when I have the blinker on.

Well, finally got around to doing the switch to LED's. Felt like I had to take most of the front end apart to get to the light housings! As it turned out, the passenger side worked fine, but the driver's side had reversed polarity. After rewiring that side, I tried the blinkers. They began to hyper flash after flashing slow two times. Damn! But read on...

Taking advantage of having the two air filter boxes out, I adjusted the headlights up, put the intake filters back in position and went for a drive. Once the car was running - NO MORE HYPER FLASH. Odd. Good, but odd. It's been two days now and the only time the turn signals hyper flash is when the car is not running but the ignition is turned on.

Alternator versus battery? Voltage would vary slightly. Odd, but there is probably a logical explanation if you are and EE

This is why I run my headlight setting to 'off' instead of 'auto'. Doesn't run the bulbs all the time and hopefully will extend their life (y)

And I don't like the amber DRL look

My turn signal lights went out. I took car to dealer to have them replaced since the passenger side is difficult to get to.. they charged me $30 bucks to do it, including the blbs so it was a go for me. About a month later, the passenger side signal went out again. Verdict, short in the lighting system. I was out of warranty by 6000 miles, however dealer contacted Hyundai and they replaced it under warranty.. glad they did, becasue that was almost 2000.00 repair as the entire lighting unit needed to be replaced.... 2 mos later same thing happened with driver side and 3 weeks ago, that was also replaced.. under warranty again, thankfully (I now have 72k miles on my car). There is evidently an issue and Hyundai must know about it.. they probably don't want a recall as it would be costly considering the price of the light housing unit.

Could you elaborate on how you rewired to fix the polarity? I want to get it done right and not mess up my warranty. TIA

To fix a polarity issue you simply mark one of the two wires powering the bulb with a marker line, cut the wire in the middle of the marker line so that both ends have the marker line showing (since they both look identical). Cut the non-marked wire and bare all four ends for reconnection. Now - simply reconnect the cut wires, but each to the opposite one (ie. marked wire to non-marked wire and non-marked to marked). Due to space restrictions I suggest splicing in a 3" piece of wire to lengthen the overall available movement of the bulb base for easy installation back into the housing. I used some quick wire connectors that have dielectric grease in them to prevent corrosion in the future.

12 volt current is like a water hose. The water is directional within the hose. Think of the wiring as being like the hose. One wire brings power into the bulb and the other one allows the power to return back to the car. Existing bulbs don't care which way the power is flowing, but LED's can only work if the flow is going the right direction. You might luck out and have both bulbs with he proper polarity and not have to do any wiring changes.

Hope this helps!

Just a quick note about polarity again. My car is a Canadian model and doesn't use the turn signal bulb as a daytime running light. If your's does use it as a daytime running light you may want to hold off on the LED's. My daytime running lights utilize the LED strips around the headlight assembly, so with the turn signals just working as turn signals it made the issue much simpler.

I am having the same issue with my front turn signals. Am taking my car in on May 18th. Hoping this should be covered under warranty.

Where did you get the (right) bulbs and are they still working well? I asked the dealer (after the 4th burned out) to swap to LED they won't do it - claiming it messes up the electrical....
After the third bulb burned out on my 3.8, 2015 Genny, the dealer replaced the wiring harness on both sides. That was several months ago, so far so good. Its possible that the old wiring harnesses were for LED bulbs that didn't make it to production in time(?)

So which models are effected by this. I have a 2015 5.0. havent had the problem yet but I just bought the car cpo

My passenger side bulb just went out yesterday. This is the third time a turn signal bulb has blown. The passenger, then driver, now passenger again. :cautious:

I wouldn't cut the wires to revers polarity, just depin them and repin, shouldn't take more than a few minutes each side.

Are either of these the bulbs that are being used to help prevent the burnout?
SYLVANIA ZEVO 1156 Amber LED Bulb
SYLVANIA ZEVO 2357 Amber LED Bulb

Those bulbs do last longer. I had them installed for about a year and they never went it. Regular bulbs lasted about 6 months for me. However, I do not recommend installing those LED Sylania bulbs. On my car, they hyperflashed.

After reading this tread about a month or two a ago, I bought the ones from Pepboys (in white) and no longer have the hyperflash issue.
