If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I can't quite put my finger on it, but that dash looks dated in some way. Reminds me of 1978 - 82 cars back in the day. Especially that gold interior. Still waiting to see in person.

I agree...... Love the seats and the improved electronics, paddle shifters and the wood color choices however the design of the dash is overly conservative IMO. Black would be my only color interior I would want. That gold looks a lil' cheap to me...
Look at the new Mercedes C-Class interior. For 45k that car looks like a mini S-class.

Honestly debating if the new design is worth the premium over the current R-Spec considering I am not looking at AWD. Decisions, Decisions....

I agree and it will be an even tougher choice in a few months when 2013's R-specs are down in the upper 30's along with likely finance incentives to get them off the lot as the new design moves in. The old design will take a massive hit on resale out the gate with the old design, but it will come down to how far the cost gap is when they price out the new platform.

Mmmmm.....

The 2G Genesis looks better, inside and out, than the 1G IMO. To each his own, but I think the technology and improvements in driving dynamics is more than worth the premium.

I am not trying to compare the RLX with Genesis. But there are no cars that can match the Genesis dollar for dollar, not just the RLX. The RLX has its own set of problems, including FWD, and also terrible front grill styling that still is dragging down all Acura sales numbers.

Regarding the figure 8 times, RLX has a similar size engine to Genesis (both V6) and is FWD, so I would say that their 4 wheel steering does help if they can beat the Base model Genesis figure 8 time. The Dunlop tires have always performed well, they just go bad very quickly. That doesn't mean I think the RLX is worth the $20K more than the Genesis, just that the 4 wheel steering does seem to work.

When the Acura RLX gets the Acura SH-AWD (super-handling AWD) it should perform even better from a handling perspective. But it is going to be even more money than the Genesis.

That figure 8 time was merely adequate 5-6 years ago. Now, it's unacceptable for a so-called sport sedan. Everything else I agree with.

Do you figure that those white DRL angel eyes change to amber when the parking lights/headlights are turned on?

I am getting used to the new design. Blow up doll, or Miley Cyrus "open mouth to receive" silly Audi grill knock off design aside.

I wonder what 2.5mph bumper is behind the open mouth grill? Massive damage to repair for any small fender bender. Worse than what a 66 Caddy from end cost back then to fix a small parking lot spot bump by someone in front of the car.

Thanks alot. I can never look at the car again without having this spring to mind ;)

; There was a group test drive in South Korea for car bloggers(I guess)

Can't wait to see in person!

US version headlights ----- :(

My two asks: bring the KDM dual projectors over as an option and offer a black headliner. The tan against the brown leather looks horrible.

I hope they bring over the LED version headlights as a package like we seen at the beginning of those spyshots earlier this year.
They randomly vanished with the regular version headlights and we haven't seen them pop back up again at any of these release events in korea.

Ever since I got my prada lights, it is honestly hard to go back to the basic looking projector lights. If they don't offer it, I hope a supplier will have them available like they do with the Prada ones.

Agreed with the last few posts. I want at least dual projectors, preferably LED's. I also want the black headliner whether alcantara or not. I would throw in wanting the electronic shifter from the k900 that was seen in some of the earlier spy shots on the genesis.

I would pass on the soft close doors for sure, the rear entertainment, and probably even the hud if necessary to get the others.

Has the RSpec even been released yet? The only materials that I'ce seen were for the 3.3 and 3.8L V6s. I'm willing to bet the RSpec has those full LED lights

It's also worth noting that there are yellow reflectors on those lights so it would have to meant for North America.

I think the full color HUD is pretty cool. I think I'd take that and leave the other features you mentioned.

That's a good catch. For those who didn't catch it, he is referring to the last picture with LED projector lighting.

might be disappointed. ran the 1st link thru google xlate, which yields this text:

See United States [export] model is not dual circular projection lamp

based on the segment they're trying to go after, it's surprising that they don't offer more goodies.

Yep. I bet we see those lights at NAIAS, along with the official launch of the RSpec. I can't imagine Hyundai would go through the trouble of having those lights with a yellow reflector only to not offer them at all and I doubt Hyundai would make such a huge oversight. If I had to choose between the dual projectors and the full LEDs, I'd choose the LEDs hands down.

Knowing that full LED headlights are pretty much expected to be at least an option in this class, I can't see Hyundai making such a huge mistake in not offering them. We still haven't seen an RSpec w/o camo. I bet it will be an option on that trim.

Are we even sure there's going to be an Rspec? It seems to me that name was a bad decision. It seemed to overstate the track-orientation of the car, and all the auto mags seemed to start their reviews saying that this is no AMG/M/S competitor. Hyundai has to target the German's to use this as a sort of halo-car to increase brand recognition, but the rspec name was never taken seriously on the Genesis sedan, and that's not good for marketing IMO. Personally I think they should keep the entire KDM naming system and just call it the Genesis G500 in the US. The other thing is that the suspension mechanics were one of the primary differences between the 5.0 and 5.0R while they both existed, and now with the "sport mode" suspension a big part of the difference will be gone.

If they choose to do an Rspec again it needs to be a bit more focused. IMO it should be rwd-only, revised front lower fascia, they should have distinct intake and exhaust that actually open up flow and produce some noise and even if it's only 5hp they should advertise the hp difference. There should also be a "track" drive mode that allows traction and stability to be totally killed without the old fuse pulling, in addition to making the rear diff lockup more aggressive. Throw in a minimum of 275 series rear tires on 19's or 20's. Programming a mild launch control into the transmission wouldn't hurt either.

As far as the lights go, I don't know what to expect. At this point we're not far away from finding out, but if they do give us the LED's that will be a pretty major departure from their previous generation business practices. While it is true that the KDM didn't previously get the Rspec the BH 380 was significantly better equipped than the US version in terms of goodies.

After all said and done when the RSpec came out all it had was badged floor mats, dark smoke headlight inserts and a tighter steering feel. There was no difference in the engine or transmission. No settings that really made it an RSpec standalone. IMO at least they could have done is to add some carbon fiber to the console and steering wheel to make it stand out from the other 5.0 non RSpec.

Just my opinion !! :)
