2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

You could spend less than $56K on loaded 5.0 OR you could spend $72K on a loaded M56 or $73K on a CTS V-Sport or $80K for a 550i. By the way, none of these cars have AWD. This is just for the RWD versions. As I said, you(after all, you did reply) and everyone else need to take a deep breath. Even with the price bump(which is almost exactly what I was expecting) the Genesis stiil represents a tremendous value in this class

A tremendous value in this class will not be won on more features. Buyers in the $50K+ market don't simply add up features and value or they would be buying Honda Accord's. The competition between BMW and MB has lowered selling prices - and the fact the Genesis has a V8 does not put it in the BMW 550i segment. Again, much depends on what the new cars sell for, but I do not think it is safe to assume buyers of premium sedans will cast off the prior economy status of Hyundai because the new one has more gadgets.

7th on CTS V-sport? Doubt it will b that high

I am very serious. To a large extent (depending on the person) people are not buying features and equipment with a car purchase, they are buying image and status. Very, very, few people are going to notice that a loaded Genesis has more features than a moderately equipped MB E350. The only thing most people are going to notice is that one is a MB and the other is Hyundai (or best case scenario, they may not be sure what it is).

I'm still trying to figure out what your point is. If we all were chasing status, none of us would be here. Most of us bought a Genesis because of its value proposition.

...Ido not think it is safe to assume buyers of premium sedans will cast off the prior economy status of Hyundai because the new one has more gadgets.

But thats precisely the reason the previous Genesis was bought. People want a RWD that delivers the features that the Germans offer at a more palatable price.

Yes, value proposition when compared with a Lexus ES or GS, or MB C class. But when you starting getting up in price to where a MB E class is (with their current discounts of about $10K off list) then there is going to be trouble in Hyundai land.

After all, most of those fancy features are ridiculous overkill, and only meant to impress people. But it is a lot easier to impress people by getting a brand new MB E350.

You see, when people start making comments like this, I have to chuckle. Not only are you comparing smaller, less powerful engine options to the top spec 5.0, but you're entire argument is based on how much you can get off sticker for cars that have been on the market for 1+ years. Of course there is wiggle room for those cars. The dealers are trying to get rid of them. As I mentioned in my previous post, the value is still there. The Genesis is at least $15K cheaper than its competition. I honestly don't get it. You wanted Hyundai to give you a better driving experience, better interior amd more technology, but you don't want to pay for it. Truly mind-boggling.

I stand corrected, unbelievable! So they plan on pricing the V near My and E63 AMG. Bad move

Looks like I'll be going with the 3.8 AWD Ultimate package at 49k sticker. I get the heated steering wheel, rear heated seats and AWD on an adequate power package.

I lose the fog lights which is a head scratcher and the 19" wheels, which I could purchase later aftermarket. Probably would go with 20s because they are cheaper than 19s.

The value is still there for me to upgrade from my loaded Maxima which I hate.

Just priced out MB 350e $68k. List so around $62 discount

I came to that same conclusion. $68K loaded, compared to $50k for a Genesis 3.8. Seriously, if you rpice out any of the competition, you'll see that the Genesis is a pretty good value. And I'm not just talking about the Germans. Try optioning out any Cadillac(including the ATS) and see how much it costs. Option up a Lincoln MKZ and I guarantee your jaw will drop. Motortrend just tested a 300 SRT8 that stickered for for nearly $62K. I think some of you could benefit from configuring cars from other companies.

I don't understand why you are so concerned about what others think? I notice you don't own a Genesis now, so are going to get a 2015? Are you associated with Hyundai directly or indirectly?

But to address your question, I already stated that most people are not going to notice that one car is loaded (Hyundai Genesis) and the other one is only moderately equipped (MB E350). They are going to notice that one is a Hyundai and one is MB. That is OK if one is significantly less expensive than the other, but a loaded 2015 Genesis is probably going to sell for $50K. IMO, that is just too close in price to a moderately equipped E350. But each person will make their own decision.

Why are you so concerned with what I think? You keep replying to me. And you've asked me that question before, to which I responded "no". It seems you ask that same asinine question to anyone who has anything positive to say about the 2015 Genesis.

To address your question; who cares? Your entire position is based on what other people think about the car you are driving. As I said, if any of us cared much about status and other opinions, none of us would be here in the first place. The 2015 Genesis is significantly less expensive than all of its direct(and some indirect) competitors. You keep going off assumptions and that someone could, maybe, possibly get a moderately(not even loaded) equipped E350 for around the price of a loaded Genesis 5.0. If you can't see the absolute idiocy in that comparison, then I give up! You win!

BTW, yes I intend to buy a new Genesis(mentioned that quite a few times, strange you missed that) and I don't care one bit that if somone else isn't able to tell that my car is loaded as I drive by them.

I appreciate that you and others may have different ideas about this than I do. I was just expressing one point of view, but I understand that others may have different opinions.

My opinion is that buying a car is not a rational experience for most people. Getting V8 and having most of the other fancy options on the Genesis are mostly emotional choices, and not rational ones. No one really "needs" all that stuff. So if people are going to be irrational just try and impress others, some will purchase a MB E350 if it is close in price to a loaded Genesis (even if the MB is not loaded). Obviously, not everyone will do that.

Here is my 2 cents...

For one, I don't own a Genesis (YET). I test drove one back in 2012 and fell in love with it. The ride. The power. The fact that it is a sleeper that flys under the radar.

We couldn't make the deal work so fast forward to 2014. I am now ready to buy one. I don't care how it compares to any other car out there. I liked what I seen back in 2012 and it can only be improved upon in the 2014 and 2015 models.

Based on the MSRP I will be picking a 2015 up sometime in August when the discounts are available. It is not about what others think you should drive but what you know you want to drive. It is you and only you that must be happy, and for me, that car is the Genesis.

My story is somewhat similar. I initially wanted a used Genesis. I finally found one I really liked at a dealer not far from me. I scheduled a test drive. The next day, I set out for the test drive inly to find I have a flat tire. No good spare so I wait for the tow truck and for the tire to get plugged. I finally get to the dealership, only to find the Genesis was just sold. The guy was transfering his things from his old car to "my" Genesis as I pulled up. I decide to wait a little longer. I get around to testing a 2012 Genesis and really like it, but the deal falls apart. The next week, I lose my job. Fast-forward to 2013 and I see all the spy shots of the 2015 Genesis and I'm intrigued. I decide to wait to see if I would like the 2015 Genesis more and I do! I cant wait to test drive the 2015 Genesis

Always,
What kind of discounts are you anticipating. Im probably am in the same boat. I'll have to wait patiently until they are discounted too.

Your logic is flawed. You are comparing the prices of the base 2014 and 2015 3.8 to that of loaded prices for the 5.0. Optioned out, the 2014 and 2015 Genesis 3.8 are seperated by much more than $1500. In fact, the 3.8 Genesis got the bigger jump in price than the 5.0 did and there are still features included in the 5.0's Ultimate package that can't be had on the 3.8(staggered wheels and tires and CDC suspension). You guys seriously need to temper your vitriol.

What on Earth are you talking about?

3.8 Base vs Base went from 35.2k to 38k. That's an increase of $2800 raw... however the base 3.8 now has the nav that was previously part of the premium package at added cost as standard, so the EFFECTIVE increase is more like $~1500.

5.0 Rspec vs 5.0 Base went from 47.4k to 51.5k. That's a difference of $4100. Now the '14 Rspec came with the top Nav and the 17 speaker lexicon system (which have both been moved to the ultimate package on the '15). The heated steering wheel and heated rear seat that were also standard on the RSpec are not included in either 5.0 package. If anything I was being too nice because IMO the '14RSpec would slot between the '15 5.0 and the '15 5.0 Ultimate once you take out standard evolutionary changes.

TLDR: Learn to math and learn what vitriol means while you're at it.

The real problem is why would I want to pay 50k for a V6 AWD without fog lights or 55k for a V8 RWD with no heated steering wheel and rear seats...just doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

+1... Hello, Hyundai are you listening?

I have been in contact with Hyundai and they said Factory Discounts won't be available until the inventory is built back up after the initial release. They expect that to be a couple of months. I am hoping by August (if I can wait that long)... They are estimating it to be a few thousand dollars so to me, it is worth the wait.
