I am on the market for a RWD sport sedan right now, a little background:
I used to have a 2007 Mazda MX5 that I loved and that is my benchmark for everything in terms of driving. I have been driving a BMW 128i Manual with sport pack for 9 years. The car was the closest thing I could find with a back seat that brought me about the same fun as the MX5. I love the 128i but it is getting old, and so am I and starting recently, I am dropping my kids at school in the AM so the added convenience of rear doors would be welcome. I am a car nuts and I have been following the arrival of the
Stinger and the G70 very closely. I am at the point that I will finally pull the trigger on a new car and so far here is what I am considering:
- Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Sport: the looks, the chassis, and the steering are fantastic but it is over 50k loaded and I am having a hard time to spend that money for a 4 cylinder. Remember, I come from a NA straight six (with a BMW performance
exhaust) and sound is a big part of driving fun
- Mercedes AMG C43: love the sound with the AMG Performance
Exhaust but it is VERY pricey (>65k), contemplating a slightly used one but they are hard to find with the optional
exhaust. Not in love with the idea of a used car though (I am very picky). I have even considered a used C63 but concerned about the cost of maintenance (they eat their brakes very fast) and the total discomfort (they are rock hard).
- BMW 330i/M340i: no way for the 4 cylinders and the M340i is going to be over the top in prices, plus I don't care for the looks and they are going to be EVERYWHERE in a few months.
- Jaguar XE: they just announced the 2020 but pricey, especially for a 4 cylinder, plus I don't care for the interior,
-
Kia Stinger GT2: I like it but it is BIG and I find it less luxurious.
I am narrowing on the G70 that checks all the right boxes (haven't test drove one though since there is no dealer in Nashville): love the looks, all I have seen in reviews, interior, the 3.3t engine and all the equipment you get for the same price as the Alfa.
