Any high mileage Genesis owners out there??

Wife's car, 2011 4.6 bought new and now has 127K and still running fine. Had the alternator replaced a month ago. Yesterday car behind bumped the rear and the headrests deployed. Although I prefer to let the dealer fix the headrests and other slight damages, I couldn't let her drive around with the headrests like that in the mean time. So I searched this forum and found the reset procedure to fix the driver side's one only. Didn't want to reset both as there were some broken plastic bits.

My car was involved in a rear-end collision and both headrests were deployed. There were broken parts from both. I had them both replaced and the dealer had to reset them and do something to get the new ones recognized in the cars system software. There is some question as to the SRS system working properly if these headrests are not installed nor configured correctly. I just didn't want to risk it.

I had the control module brake problem that many had and while it happened really late they still covered it after I complained a bit. It has been a bit hard on tires which might be my fault but otherwise I have loved this car. My goal is to get her to 200,000. My only real current issues are if I go out of town and she sits for a week or more it acts like a value or something sticks and it runs really rough for a bit. I have slight concerns about the tranny. Sometimes acts like it doesn't shift as smooth. Trying not to be in denial about it. Should probably get it checked out. The passenger side lock has to be locked/unlocked manually. Change oil every 4-5K and routine stuff. Overall, been a really good car for the money. Not sure if I'll get a new one because they have changed so much and a whole new program. Love the V8. The car is still fast!

My 2011 4.6 is at 169k as of Jan 2020. My trans has slipped on occasion for years. the 1-2 is getting a bit worse I guess. Interesting about the brake module. I've not had that replaced. Every once in a while if I have the brake hold function active and I sort of inch up a little bit and slow down, the E brake engages and the car has to be turned off/on to disengage the brake. I bit disconcerting but has only happened maybe 6 times since I bought it 6 yrs ago with 20k miles on it. The engine once in a while does that rattle when starting and check engine light comes on. It seems to me that once the oil gets circulated a bit better (10-30 sec) the rattling subsides, the light goes off and all is well. My tires usually last 40-50k miles with a lot of highway miles, so quite acceptable. Not sure if I'll make 200k, but hopefully at least through the NJ winter. Thinking of a G90 as next car, provided used prices come down..

Just turned over 150,000 on mine. 2013 with 3.8. Transmission was replaced at around 50k on a recall. Other than regular oil changes, battery, tires and some very minor things the car still rides and performs like the day I bought it. Need to get two more years out of it before I retire but I drive 25 to 30k a year so that might be tempting fate. By far the best car I've ever owned. Don't care for the 2015 and newer body style so will start the search for something different in the Spring.

202k miles, tranny still on the same fluid...I dont drive it like I stole it though, I know what the car is for and its not for 0-60

Curious as to you mileage and how the car is holding up....
I average at the bare minimum 3000 miles a month...will a Gensis hold up to this abuse for several years?

purchased mine in October - 2018...…. It has currently 108, k (Kms) and drives handles like charm. I had a couple of oil changes since then. My daily driver. 2015 Technology package. 3.8

1. Some issues such as rear camera was intermittent in/out for a couple weeks. It was a sudden change to cold temperature? Replaced battery because approaching winter yet output was good. Just preventative with sub zero temps coming.
2. As of late -- 11 transmission codes P0974, P0977, P0980, P0983, P0986 Shift Solenoid A-E Control Circuit High, P0963 Pressure Control Solenoid, P0971, P0967, P2763 Torque Converter Clutch Pressure, P0707 Transmission Range Sensor.
3. C1204 Wheel Speed Sensor. May need Wheel Hub Assembly replacement.
4. ABS light and TPMS lights when changed to Snow Tires.

I do not have a answer to these questions yet, but have been thoroughly pleased with this car. Concerned about the tranny right now, but need to check a few things out first.

I have a 2010 Genesis and have been amazed at how little I have spent maintaining it! When I got new tires recently the TPMS light came on as I was driving home. I went back and they reset it and again it came on driving home. I have a little over 100,000 miles. He said it might be a low battery in the device??? He said they may want to change out the whole thing instead. I will find out when I go to the dealer. If it is real pricey, I'm old enough to remember how to periodically check my tires before we had all this fancy stuff.

One of mine went on a 2011 and I don't think that it was more than $50. Pep Boys found it bad on a tire change but I beleive that they had to get the part from the dealer. Cheap insurance I think, and good to have.

Most likely a bad sensor in one of the tires. I had a bad one that was brand new with a new set of tires and it was no good right out
of the box.

2009 Genesis 3.8 Sedan with over 176k miles on it. At about 172k the alternator and the starter went out. Replaced those and haven't had any serious mechanical issues. I bought the car with 88k miles on the dash and a questionable sunroof that grinds really bad but works. I don't use it at all though. My ability to make calls via the bluetooth stopped working maybe about 3 years ago. Other than those issues it's been a great car!

I too have 12 pending codes relating to powertrain (solenoids and torque converter)
After replacing battery. No check lights at all. Transmission feels smooth through out gears. 153k miles on car.

I think I have those same codes as well on my 2011 3.8. Just remember seeing like 15 odd electrical-related issues with solenoids and tc on my historical codes. Didn't think much of it, sometimes weird electrical things happen in modern cars and trip codes momentarily. I have no check engine light and the transmission shifts smooth throughout the gears. I only have 90k miles on my gen, but the 09-11 3.8s have Aisin transmissions (mostly owned by Toyota) so I'm not worried about the transmission blowing up anytime soon. Mostly just concerned about engine life with the way I drive it!

Yes I still have it. My 2011 Genesis 4.6 V8 is on the road everyday. No oil use, runs smooth, tranny shifts like new. Most reliable car I have every had. Much better than the Acura it replaced. 184,560 miles.

I have a 2010 4.6 with 70k miles, I love everyday I get in and drive it. These vehicles where tested to go 800k miles, rountine maintenance.

My car was totaled at 97k was running great! Thankfully everything custom/aftermarket on the car was removed when i say everything i mean everything the car got picked up with no brakes and sitting on 16" oem mazda 3 wheels the only thing ilost was my autoflex job but i can always re do that.

Incredibly i found a MINT condition 13' w/ premium pckg just like my previous one only it had the saddle Brown/black leather interior get this 10,945 miles haha basically brand new car! single owner all services done at hyundai dealership w/ records. the dealerhips' owner had a friend going througha divorce and instead of losing the car to the ex he put it up for sale on the lot and it sat there for a year till i found my way to it!! dreams of having a turbo'd 3.8 BH Continue on an 11k powertrain wooohoo
