I have been a Hyundai owner and enthusiast for many years now.
My first Hyundai was a blue 1989 Sonata GLS.
I purchased it new with a manual transmission and had over 200K miles on it before I had to part ways with it. It had the 2.4L engine back then and people swore it was a six cylinder because it was so fast (with the manual transmission). I drove that car across country twice along with numerous trips to Arizona, Las Vegas and the Bay area (northern California). That is what "sealed" me to loving Hyundai's. Over the years I watched as Hyundai steadily improved their product, building their brand reputation and cornering more of the market share.
Twenty years to the month, In 2009, I purchased my second Hyundai;
A used, 2009 Champagne Sonata Limited 3.3L V6.
This car had 11K miles on it and just made me fall deeper in love and become even more committed to the Hyundai brand. As you can see, I did a number of exterior (as well as interior) modifications. One thing that really frustrated me about this car was the fact that I couldn't find any
aftermarket performance upgrades for it.
In late 2009, I saw the Genesis Coupe and swore I would get one; so...in July of 2010, I purchased used, my third Hyundai;
My 2010 Mirabeau Blue Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track A/T
This car only had 1.6K miles on it so it was practically brand new. Once again, as you can see from the picture, I've done a number of exterior
mods, as well as interior and performance ones. This is my blue eyed baby, lol.
As time progressed, and with the introduction of the new generation Sonata's, I contemplated what I would do for my next car. I've always felt that there is no replacement for displacement so getting a new Sonata was out of the question, as my Sonata was the 3.3L V6 so my next logical choice was the Azera, which basically had the same engine that the Sonata had. But while looking around at Azera's the Genesis started to peak my interest.
So with that in mind and the fact that purchasing the sedan would make me a "total" Genesis owner, I began a search for a sedan. I actually found the car last week, had it taken to where I could view it on Friday and on Tuesday of this week, I became the proud owner of my fourth Hyundai;
A 2012 Silver Genesis with Premium Package
Once again, the love and committment increases, LOL. I traded in the Sonata to get this car. The only thing left for me to do now is to upgrade later to the 5.0 Tau V8 as far as the sedan goes, and then when they put that engine in the Coupe, I'll go for that!
