  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hyundai Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

Re: 2015 Genesis: post up your compliments/stares/double takes thread

So far after 3 weeks since buying my 2016 Luxury 3.8 H Trac I've had 2 comments suggesting it was a Chrysler 300 & one" It's an Aston Martin".

Its always Bentley or Chrysler, nothing on this car yet that uniquely identifies is as a genesis, but I guess time will tell when the Korean finally find some unique body cues for their brand.

Nothing? I think there's many distinctions it has.
- Grill
- Parking lights and LEDs around the headlight housing
- Tailights
- The sunroof (which is used by KIA also in the Stinger)

I have not once saw a Genesis and though it was something other than that. This car is very distictive, IMO. However, the G90 from the rear screams "S-class" and they shouldn't have made it that way. As the saying goes, which I'm sure they said at one point, "If you can't beat them, join them."

Take a good look at Audi grills and see the resemblance. front side marker LEDs scream late BMW 5 series, LED DRLs are from 2014 era lexus, audi and BMW. Tail lights is probably the only unique item.

Had another guy I work with see if for the first time. He thought it was a Chrysler... Made me cringe

The 2018 refresh with the new revised bumper looks like a Chrysler even more lol.

I've noticed that all of the cars mentioned also have the same round tires! :cigar:

I drive for Uber every now and then with this car. If I had a dollar for every compliment I got....

I've been driving in the US for 10 days now [ in a horrid Chevy Cruze, it's a economic wee car with a surprising bit of grunt, ,
but it's a small hatchback, death to the hatchback, no good will come of such abominations ]

Anyway, in the dozens of lonely hours on the highways, byways and interstates, I ain't seen one Genesis, or a G80 or a G90, where the **** are
they all ?

Depending on the area, you'll see some, many or not at all haha. Here in Indy, I see maybe one a day so it's kinda cool. I like having a car I don't see everywhere all the time.

In the Chicago area I see several fairly often. On average I would say that I see at least one every other day. One day I saw 5 throughout the day.

I've made three trips to Florida in the past year. each exceeded 3000 miles. I see them in Florida but I don't recall any above North Carolina. In my usual travel area around home, I rarely see one.

I'm in the eastern states, Manassas VA today, heading to Lancaster PA later , maybe The Amish drive them ?

It's strange not seeing any, loads of Chrysler 300s, but no Gennys , that front grill is very recognisable.

I'll keep a look out today.

The Black Bumper Mennonites may have them. Look for a model with no chrome. When cars had whitewalls they were turned to the inside.

Yesterday, as my wife and I were heading westbound on I-80 out of Sacramento in stop-n-go traffic for miles, a smaller black sedan pull up alongside to my left, and the front seat passenger (young guy with backwards cap & sunglasses) has his window down and is waving to get my attention.
I lower my window, acknowledge him as we roll along slowly, and he exclaims,
"That's a GREAT lookin' car, man! My girlfriend (the driver) spotted it from way back there!"
"Thanks,"
I replied with a smile, "I just washed it this morning. Black cars show every spect of dust!"
"I know, right?,"
he said, "Looks awesome, man!" as they pulled away while giving me the thumbs-up.
As they pulled ahead, I noticed she was driving a black KIA.

First time in 40+ years of freeway driving I've ever had another car's passenger holler something positive at me. ;)

The look I got from a new Mustang owner next to me when I rocketed from a stoplight next to him. I only accelerated to 40 mph but the car got there fairly quickly. He looked very confused at the next light.:)

I do not think that he knew a Genesis sedan could move that fast. Hell, I only learned recently that the Genesis 5.0 had 420hp just before buying this one.

The 5.0 is a sleeper sports sedan which is very comfortable to drive.

Hmm, does it count if it's your own double take? The other day, as my new car honeymoon hasn't wore off yet, a pole caught me doing a double take while I was walking away.
