  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Pics of my G70

@danygenesis
how light/dark is the grey interior in person? most pics I've seen appear to be really light
It's lighter than I thought. Compared with my old 2016 Hyundai Genesis 3.8 with grey interior too, the G70 is way lighter.
Here you have a pic.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Wow, that red looks really rich and elegant! Nice!!

Hard to photograph the Nürburg Green to show off what it actually looks like but some of the close-up shots show how much metallic there is in the paint and how green it looks in certain angles!
I'll take some proper pro pics on the DSLR instead of iPhone in the spring after a proper hand wash with wax.
Winter wheels are Genesis 18x8 G003 Titanium.

I'm thinking a black interior will look newer longer and can be cooled easily with the ventilated seat option.

Very true and not even debatable. The light colors deteriorate quickly even with heavy maintenance.

True but with the hot summer we have in Florida is always better to have a light seat color. I know that from first hand.

I hear you. We spend lots of time in SWFL. Do the light seats really stay noticeably cooler?

Seat colour is only 2/3 of the equation when it comes to inside materials. The headliners matter too.
In Canada, with the brown leather, the headliner is black so while the seats may not be as hot as black seats, the inside of the car will be warmer than the lighter coloured headliners!
On my Acura, I could press and hold down my unlock button and all my windows will lower and my sunroof would open. That used to release the heat before I got into the car. Wish the G70 could do the same!
Would be extremely useful in the summer if I didn't want to use remote start to cool down the car!

Took in a late night wash to feed my OCD a little. It's not easy to do when it's -30*C (-22*F) outside. Being a diehard detailing hobbyist I will only ever wash my car properly as well, so I head out very late to the self serve car wash and bring all my gear with me. I pretty much had the place to myself tonight so it was pretty relaxing and quiet. He are the before and after pics. My light version of a ceramic coating is holding up like a charm so far this winter.

Result sure made it worthwhile. Seems like the self serve car washes are pretty much gone though. I used them a lot in winter. Cheap, fast, no nasty brushes scraping your paint.

^ reminds me of when i lived in Edmonton for University. i'd go to wash my Vancouver-origin MX-6 in the wand wash place with my own mitt/soap. worked great and saved my paint from the steel wool brushes they had. only problem was that the car doors would freeze shut when i went to get in the next day or so...even in a garage (unheated). i'd have to get a heat lamp set up an hour or two before needing to leave.

Speaking of ceramic coating, did you apply it yourself? I'm looking into doing my own, as I've always waxed my own cars, and I've found a few ceramic coatings that are relatively easy to apply.

I'm planning on putting it on my wife's car first, for practice. Haha.

I did apply it myself. I used a product called Gyeon CanCoat which is essentially a llight version of a ceramic coating. Basically it’s SIO2 concentration is less compared to a full ceramic coating like Gyeon One, Mohs or other brands, and the hardness level will be lower as well. It’s concentration is 35% where as the others mentioned are 55% to 80% roughly. I highly recommend it if you have never tried a ceramic coating before as it’s extremely easy to apply and does not require the lengthy curing times of a true ceramic coating. Just getting my car in December it was too hard for me to properly prep and apply ceramic coating in the middle of winter so I am waiting until spring. I’m going to be using CQuartz UK 3.0 for my coating of choice. CanCoat will give you similar results as a ceramic coating but with shorter durability periods due to lower SIO2 concentration and lower hardness levels. CanCoat is also great on windows as well except the windshield as it would most likely cause wiper blade skipping. It’s also safe on the chrome trim and the plastic diffuser area on the lower rear area of the G70.

If you plan on trying a ceramic coating then make sure you properly prep the paint first otherwise the coating won’t bond properly to the paint and it will be a waste of time and money. Application really is not that hard. It’s the prep part that can be difficult since most don’t have the products, means or know how to do it. Before applying a ceramic coating you really need to make sure you don’t have swirl marks, light scratches and/or holograms otherwise they will show worse once the coating is on and cannot be fixed unless the the coating is removed first.

I’m glad I tried Gyeon CanCoat as it’s now going to be my go to product for my wife’s car. If I decide to top my coating before winter CanCoat will be my go to topper as well. I will continue to use on my windows also.

Would you mind sharing what type and percentage tint you have? Thanks!!

Thanks for the info! Looks like I'll have to do some more reading.

Without looking at the product you mentioned (yet), I was thinking of using this one...

https://www.amazon.com/McKees-37-MK37-260-Coating-Enhanced/dp/B074WPDR4W?tag=theartofclean-20&psc=1

From the reading I've done thus far this one is supposed to be fairly easy to apply with decent results. Any thoughts?
I’m familiar with that product but have not used it. It would be very similar to Gyeon CanCoat with probably a bit longer durability. I’ve read good things about it. I’ve considered trying it myself as it’s also easy to use. It may be what I try on my wife's car at some point.

Here is a video showing a 5 month update of 4 different coatings. The Mckee’s is actually a 10 month update though. It still appears to be holding strong.

It certainly would be a good coating to start off with as it's easy to use.
