Speaking of
ceramic coating, did you apply it yourself? I'm looking into doing my own, as I've always waxed my own cars, and I've found a few
ceramic coatings that are relatively easy to apply.
I'm planning on putting it on my wife's car first, for practice. Haha.
I did apply it myself. I used a product called Gyeon CanCoat which is essentially a llight version of a
ceramic coating. Basically it’s SIO2 concentration is less compared to a full
ceramic coating like Gyeon One, Mohs or other brands, and the hardness level will be lower as well. It’s concentration is 35% where as the others mentioned are 55% to 80% roughly. I highly recommend it if you have never tried a
ceramic coating before as it’s extremely easy to apply and does not require the lengthy curing times of a true
ceramic coating. Just getting my car in December it was too hard for me to properly prep and apply
ceramic coating in the middle of winter so I am waiting until spring. I’m going to be using CQuartz UK 3.0 for my coating of choice. CanCoat will give you similar results as a
ceramic coating but with shorter durability periods due to lower SIO2 concentration and lower hardness levels. CanCoat is also great on windows as well except the windshield as it would most likely cause wiper blade skipping. It’s also safe on the chrome trim and the plastic
diffuser area on the lower rear area of the G70.
If you plan on trying a
ceramic coating then make sure you properly prep the paint first otherwise the coating won’t bond properly to the paint and it will be a waste of time and money. Application really is not that hard. It’s the prep part that can be difficult since most don’t have the products, means or know how to do it. Before applying a
ceramic coating you really need to make sure you don’t have swirl marks, light scratches and/or holograms otherwise they will show worse once the coating is on and cannot be fixed unless the the coating is removed first.
I’m glad I tried Gyeon CanCoat as it’s now going to be my go to product for my wife’s car. If I decide to top my coating before winter CanCoat will be my go to topper as well. I will continue to use on my windows also.
