  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Recall/Free Tire Replacement???

my wife made a phone call to Atlantic Hyundai to replace the tires and the rep on the phone said that she would have to bring it in so the Tech could inspect and he would determine whether they would need replacement ,so my wife said thank you and immediately call Hyundai USA and they said they would call the dealership . This is why Genesis should separate themselves from Hyundai ,not the same service you get from MB or BMW or Audi

Links to the used Equus options ... not sure why the miles are low (the dealer said that these are bought at some auction, and are demo cars)...

Ultimate Model, 2015. Used....offered at $52888

So the Ultimate Equus comes from the dealer with the Contiprocontact tires, are they exactly the same as the 2015 V8 Genny replacement tires? Did they also have a recall first or use these for some time?

i already have verified the date with hyundai NA and I have my letter as well, every owner has 3 yrs to get this done if need be..Dealers in my area tend to know NOTHING, I prefer to get my info from the regional Hyundai office in New Jersey..Actually very easy to get a regional service manager on the phone which is what I did

WELL ... as to the three years there may be an issue with this ...

Took the advice of wonderful forum member(s) and WROTE Hyundai to confirm the three years ...

Here's what I said: "Hello! I got the recall letter on the Hankook tires for my car (which I love BTW) but I want to confirm what I've heard elsewhere, that I have three years to do the tire replacement. I'm disabled and I want to take my time to make the decision about the change. Thanks, Alley - a Satisfied hyundai Customer!"

Here's what I got back:

"Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your Hankook tire replacement inquiry.

Our offer to replace the factory installed tires will remain open for the foreseeable future, although we do not have a set expiration date on this offer at this time. We do encourage you to replace your current tires with the new factory approved tires at your earliest convenience to improve your car's drivability. Please contact your preferred Hyundai dealership to schedule an appointment."

So huh. Could be longer ... could be shorter!

Well…..that clears things up considerably.

Somewhere back, oh 20 or more pages ago, someone asked a question that I've not yet seen an answer to. Please let me ask the same question again in the hope that someone who has made the swap might now know.
What tire pressures are being recommended for the Conti Procontact TX tires on the V8 5.0? Are the staggered front/rear (33/35) pressures being recommenced as is the case with the HKs?

Got my Michelin replacement letter last week. Hadn't really noticed a problem but my trade-in was an Infinity G-35 Sport which had a generally harder ride than the Genesis. Love the Genesis. Don't even miss my manual transmission, thanks to the paddle-shifters.
Does anyone know how long the offer is open? Didn't mention a "respond by" date in the letter and, since I was blissfully unaware of the problem ("If you don't think too good, don't think too much") I wouldn't mind wearing a little more rubber off my Hankook's.

I am continuing to inflate to 33/35 as indicated on the door pillar - I did a search and found nothing to the contrary - as far as factory specs.

Of course, personal preferences are all over the place - usually in the direction of higher pressures.

Just go to your dealer. They gave it listed in the computer as a recall. It should be for everyone.

Does anyone know the email address where I can email Hyundai about the recall. I only use my mobile and the site just redirects me to the mobile main webpage. Can't see the "contact us" information.
I don't know why but the webpage is blacked out. Can't click on it and when I use the "try it" option it doesn't show me the contact info...... Weird

my replacement tires came with the following tire pressures 40, 38, 39,and 39. I lowered the pressure to 33 for all 4 tires.

Just out of curiosity, why not to 33/35? I notice that you are driving an Equus. Is 33/33 called for in your vehicle?

I'm just always trying to learn something from the wisdom and experiences of others.

I spoke with the service manager at my local dealer today and asked how long the offer remains in effect. He said 2 years from the date of the letter. I got mine in May 2015 so.......to be on the safe side, in early 2017 it becomes time for new tires.

I'd get that in writing, signed by the GM.

I have an email saying 3 years from hyundai...I'm good with that.

Getting my Continental tires installed today. Dealer told me Gennys with 18 inch wheels get Michelins and 19 inch get Continental. There is no software flash for Continental replacement tires.

has anyone replaced their 18s yet? i just took delivery of a base 3.8 genesis and must say that i've noticed a fair amount of road noise from the hankooks; and was wondering if the michelins are quieter or not?

I personally found the Hankooks to be the most quite tires I’ve owned so far providing the pressure is correct and there is no alignment problems. I did have the tires replaced as per existing tire campaign replacement. While the new Michelins are good tires they are not as finely attuned to the characteristics of the new Genesis suspension. That said I found them to be a bit nosier and provide a harsher ride. Surely not a ground shaking difference but never the less noticeable.

Just curious what percentage of Gen 2 owners have gotten their tire replacement letters. as of today, I have not. I was lead to believe, by local service manager, that all letters would be out to all by end of May.

Can you post a pic of that email?

I tried this morning but for some reason it didn't work. here is cut and paste. if you really want a picture I can try again.....

thanks for the feedback. i'm just surprised how noisey the hankooks are on the coarse pavement around here. i think it might be even louder than my 2012 regal was, which did have michelins (can't remember which specific tire).
